Best place to eat in Las Terrenas

The food here is fabulous--grilled fish, lobster, camarones are the way to go. Fresh seafood is cooked to order on outdoor wood fires (you can even choose your fish from the cooler). The pina colada is creamy and delicious, served in a hollowed pineapple. The restaurant is completely no frills, with covered outdoor seating and rustic old tables and chairs, located right on Playa Coson. Cannot go wrong with this place. Heading back to DR this winter and looking forward to many great meals at Luis! Eat here for lunch, have a pina colada, then a nap on the beach!

Absolute perfection

On the beach (although you could drive) about 1/2 to 3/4 of a mile from Samana Sblime. Cheap folding chairs, uneven wooden tables, a porto potty and thatched roofs. But one of y favorite restaurants of all time. We ate lunch here three times in a week. Fresh grilled lobster with lime,grilled red snapper, dorado, rice and beans, pina coladas served with copious amounts of run, ice cold Presedentes. Can sit her four hours and watch the beach and handful of surfers. Locals and tourists a like. Vendors and musicians wander by. We bough a few trinkets, some nuts. Friendly local dogs sit near by expectantly. Just ideal. Weve been back 48 hours and I already miss it.

Outstanding Beachside Seafood!

Staying with friends in Las Terrenas, this beachside restaurant came highly recommended and it certainly did not disappoint. We got there just in time to pick our fresh grouper and lobster and with a few beverage later had one of the best fresh meals ever. When we go back we'll for certain visit Restaurant Luis.

Lunch at the Coson Beach

Great location sitting looking out at the surf breaking, whilst enjoying a fresh fish lunch. The service was excellent and we chose the lobster, shrimp and fish that we wanted. Before we ate we walked along the beach and enjoyed a swim .

Great seafood but the magic is lost with Luis

As much as Luis memory was present on custom made covid masks for the waiters (!?) and the place was not as busy as usual, the food was always delicious in particular a very large chillo with the usual condiments of platanos Fritos , fries, rice and beans... the chicken also good. The beach splendid. But a fully paved road (concrete not even asphalt) and a printed bill, makes you realize how much this place has changed in the last 15 years. Still a must

Unbelievably slow service

Lovely spot on the beach but waited 2 hours for our food to arrive. We were expecting service to be slow in this laidback environment but some staff seemed completely indifferent to our polite enquiries as to where our food was. We enjoyed the food when it did finally get there.

Great food, terrible service, cheat tourists

The grilled fish was truly great. However… beware if you are a non-spanish speaking tourist. We tried to verify the price of the fish before we sat down. We were shown the price (on his calculator) of the fish as 200 pesos per pound. The fish was 2.25 pounds weighed in front of us. We were trying to be so careful since we don’t speak Spanish and we had already been cheated a few times since our trip started (another story for another review). So, we sat down and had an excellent tasting lunch. Then the bill came. They charged us for 3 drinks (the waiter spilled a half finished drink when he bumped the table but charged us for it anyway). and charged us for 3 pounds of fish at 900 pesos per pound. We let the drink slide, and took off the extra pound of fish as “a mistake”, but refused to budge on the 900 price relying on the language barrier to justify that. This ruined the experience overall. We have noticed that the culture here is consistent… it’s ok to try and cheat the tourists. Also, the service was generally very poor as the waiters were more interested in goofing off than serving us.

Secluded beach restaurant

This restaurant is located on one of the best beaches in the Dominican Republic. You should go there primarily for that reason. This beach is secluded and having a restaurant right there enables you to have easy access. You can get a free chaise lounge and spend many hours drinking piña coladas and eating delicious grilled seafoods. In fact, you get to choose which fish or lobster they will cook for you beforehand. Super fresh. The waiters are very nice and accommodating. There is also a masseuse tent but she wasn’t there when we visited. This place is not fancy at all. It’s just a shack on the beach. It does have bathrooms and you can shower yourself with a bucket before you leave.

Good place to have a drink or a light dinner

We visited Playa Coson and when it started raining, we ordered some drinks. Good vibe, kind staff. We did not eat, however, we have seen the dishes ordered by other tables and seemed fresh and tasty.

A must go!

I went with my sister, we tried the lambí with tostones. Food was delicious! The restaurant is on the beach, very laid back, great service and portions are generous. I would totally recommend this place while visiting las terrenas.

I'll be brief, sweet and to the point like this place. No electricity. The amazing seafood was cooked in firewood. No electricity. Portable stereos playing music. No electricity. Iced cold drinks. No electricity . An amazing owner and the happiest staff

Large variety of delicious, fresh caught seafood accompanied by traditional Carribean side dishes; rice and beans or fries.

Located right on the beach, this restaurant is the place for typical Carribean seafood, fresh caught, chosen by guests and cooked toyour specifications, to perfection. Side dishes include typical Carribean fare. Rice and beans fresh salads each plate was excellent as was the service and the view of the beach. CASUAL, RELAXING. Family friendly. Highly recommend the Pina coladas served right in a pineapple.

Bad and arrogant service

Food ok, service super unfriendly! Food was nothing special. Fish ok and salad were 4pieces of tomato and cucumber with green salad. Service was super bad and arrogant. The bill he threw from some meters to our table. No idea why since we tried to speak spanish. If you want good food go to Cafe Coson.

Excellent food with a view

I found a bit weird that they do not have a menu, you need to ask what is available. But I've ordered fish filet and got a huge portion. Wash it down with nice local beer. It would get 5 starts, wasn't it for the 18% credit card fee (most DR restaurants seem to have this ripoff)

Laid back place at the beach

Great food next to the ocean. When you come in, go around back and pick your seafood, go to the bar and get your drink and find a table right on the beach. Relax or play on the beach while you wait for your food. Maybe 30 minutes wait. Reasonable prices for fresh seafood.
