About

We are the oldest Thai Restaurant on the Sunshine Coast and have been established since 1996. We are located on the Coolum Beachfront and offer great alfresco dining in a chilled out atmosphere opposite the beach 7 days a week for lunch and dinner. If you are a lover of good Fresh Thai food you will love our meals, mostly Gluten and Daily Free. We do not add any MSG or stock powders or fillers to our dishes and are extremely Vegan and Vegetarian friendly!! Our restaurant is fully licensed for Beer, Wine, Spirits and have a great Cocktail Menu. We also cater for children with their own menu too. We are easily accessed with wheelchairs and have a 60 bay car park in our complex for easy parking if needed. Please don't forget to book your table for evening dining to avoid disappointment :)

Eat in and takeaway.

We had a few takeaway meals from here and they were very competitively priced and generous servings. The quality of the food was also of a high standard. We also had a sit down meal and the staff were attentive and very helpful. The service was quick and the food was great. We also noted that when passing during the day the tables, chairs and condiments were regularly thoroughly cleaned.

Great Thai place

Great Thai place across from the Coolum Surf Club. The food is delicious and authentic: we had yellow curry, massaman, duck red curry, cashew nut chicken and starters and all were fabulous. Fantastic range of options for vegetarians and vegans, and the dishes with meat also come with nicely-balanced vegetables. Portions were generous. A couple of interesting cocktails, too. It was very busy on a Friday night beginning the Australia Day long weekend, but the service was prompt and the food came quickly.

Delightful surprise

We dropped into Hot Chili Bean Thai at Coolum for lunch & were delighted to sit in a very simple & relaxing dining area In front of the Thai restaurant. Meals were as clean looking, healthy, tasty as any Thai place we have been to. Green chicken curry in a serving bowl for me spoon over my large serve of rice, & satay chicken sticks for my wife. Delicious. Thai Food always makes such a enjoyable meal. Efficient & friendly service with daily specials on the menu. We will be back.

Meal portions for general

Meal portions for general curries did not come with rice and did not indicate this on the menu. When discussion was had with staff the standard response was ‘I’ve worked here for four years and the menu has been the same’...however we are Locals have have dinner here on numerous occasions & this was not the what was not what was on offer on previous visits. A mai meal was not missed from our order & had to impress upon them that they had not delivered a correct order.

Ordered from there for our wedding anniversary dinner in September. Chicken satay were fine, sauce beautiful but chicken grainy (perhaps microwaved). That’s where the meal stopped. Thai salad a hot mess, curries defied logic, phoned but M hung up on us. Took the barely touched meals back and she phoned the owners. Owner B quite approachable and authorised a full refund although we only accepted part refund, owners were heading off on a trip. Turns out manager is their daughter! Very young staff. Didn’t receive the promised follow up call hence this review. Lift your game and don’t let inexperienced staff man the desk. Frequent visitors to Coolum with interstate and overseas family. Won’t be back. Thanks for spoiling our fifth wedding anniversary, stayed at the Coolum Caprice, sensational accommodation, we ended up putting together a cheese platter.

Very disappointing

Dinner for 79th Birthday celebration. Lovely food, when it eventually arrived. Waitress service beyond bad, it was appalling. We started with a cocktail, intending to have at least 2 or 3 each. Food ordered, cocktails long finished. Still no food. After asking having to go to the counter to ask, entree turned up 10-15 mins later. Fish cakes were rubbery 😒. We were never asked if we would like another drink, and we drank water for the rest of the night. In fact getting one of the 4 waitresses attention was difficult to say the least. Mains arrived, and were delicious. But just plonked down. I would say give this place a BIG MISS.

Staff did not advise anything about main curries not coming with rice. One main ordered did not arrive and when we queried this staff said we have worked here for 4 years and meals are the same! No sorry we are locals and curries always came in a large bowl not a entree size bowl that we had to use someone’s else’s bowls and someone’s else’s rice to complete the meal. Never again will we revisit. Meat in Beef curry so chewy most inedible. Crap

Looking for a great Thai meal when visiting Coolum, you can’t go past this restaurant. Our family of 4 adults and 2 young children sat at the outside tables which was very pleasant. Our menu choices ranged from chicken pad Thai, duck salad, Thai green curry, beef noodle salad and chicken and rice skewers for the young ones. All were of large servings and mouth watering! Service was a little slow but with just one attendant, this was understandable. Good lunch menu and blackboard specials at good prices. Would highly recommend!

We’ve dined here a few times in recent years and have enjoyed the experience. Tonight, with the benefit of hindsight, we should have been concerned when we had to order three different beers from their list before we found one that was in stock. Our entrees were fine and arrived promptly. My “signature” prawn dish and our shared rice arrived a while later. I waited for my husband’s duck curry to arrive, but eventually started eating so mine wouldn’t go cold. It was mediocre but edible. When I had almost finished and my husband’s meal still hadn’t arrived he went to check what was happening and was told his meal won’t be long. Ten minutes after I’d eaten everything and the rice was cold, he went back to the counter and cancelled the meal. They then said “sorry but we don’t have a chef tonight”. Seriously! We went home and he had crackers and cheese for dinner. Never again.

Best Thai in Town

We have eaten here many times and always enjoy the food. My faves are the Pad Thai vegetarian and the peanut sauce stir fries with chicken or seafood. The drinks menu is more than adequate - a nice selection of beers and wines and my partner like the mock tails. The food is a bit pricier than some other Thai places but the excellent cooking and nice surrounds listening to the rolling surf make it a place to visit next time you are in Coolum.

Great atmosphere and beautiful food.

Where have you bean! Hot chilli bean was a spur of the moment dinner while visiting the Sunshine Coast. While waiting for a few moments as the staff were busy as a beehive, we were seated and ordered within a few minutes. Amazing selection, we had the specials beef masammun and pork belly. On a cool winters night the food really hit the spot with beautiful flavours in both dishes. These guys were extremely busy but still handled the pressure of a Saturday night service. I recommend you put this place on your radar!

Terrible service

Ordered takeaway and they told us it would be 40 minutes. At the 40 min mark we were told it would be another 30 minutes. Meanwhile diners in the restaurant and take away diners who placed orders well after us were served their meals. Management who not come and discuss the poor service - it was left to a teenage worker. We won’t be back - terrible service

Customer service is dead

We had a reservation with friends and on arrival were told we could only get take away, at 7:30pm! The young staff clearly did not want to seat us dining in as they wanted to pack up early and go home. They reluctantly gave us a seat and both entrees and mains arrived at once. Then when we order wine we told it’s too late - it’s 8pm! I raised my concerns and was barely acknowledged. It ruined our night out.

Best Thai in a long time

Arrived from Melbs, tired and hungry, called this place and they don’t normally deliver ( even thou web site says they do - need to fix that) they did deliver for us as we ordered early. Food arrived and it was delicious, I had the coconut prawns and chicken pad Thai and hubby had the pork and basil stir fry. Little one had the chicken fingers - she said best in her life... haha. Would recommend 👍

Love the food but not the service

Just to be clear, the foods great. We were the only guests seated at first, we had to ask one of the 4 staff members standing around if we could order, had to ask for them to clear the table and again for our dessert. Not one staff member walking the floor checking on anyone, no second drinks . Could do with some training in customer servicing.
