We are an outdoor dining establishment close to many popular outdoor restaurants on the main esplanade in Coolum Beach.This is our 18th year of serving locals and tourists delicious Thai food. We have undercover seating beside a garden area and in Winter, there is an enclosed area with heating for dining comfort. We invite you to dine with us and trust it will be a great experience.

Had mixed entree, which was overcooked Fishcake had corn kernels in it. Never seen that before.Found the food bland. At least I didn't find a fly in my curry puffMeat was tough and overcooked. Friendly staff don't make up for the disappointing food.

Well that is interesting to read you find our food bland, if that is so why do we have record numbers returning to dine with us and many repeat customers who have been dining with us for 16 years? Perhaps you are used to only your favourite Thai and not wanting to try other places. Maybe only they make your favourite meals.

We were recommended to try out this restaurant by friends, and so glad we did! What delicious authentic Thai food with the perfect blend of herbs and spices that Thai food is renowned for. Phil (the owner) and his wife are warm and welcoming and we had quite a chat during our meal. It's not a big place and the weather made it a little difficult outside, however, once seated inside we had a huge choice of dishes. After my favourite coconut prawns, I ordered Thai beef salad (which I often do at other restaurants) and was amazed at the quantity of succulent beef in the perfectly prepared dish. Hubby started with the best spring rolls I've seen and followed with sizzling beef and ginger. I decided to 'swap' half way through the meal however, as I found for my current health issue, it was a bit too spicy for my delicate insides. Phil was surprised to see us 'swap' but I assured him, it was nothing to do with the cooking. We thoroughly enjoyed every mouthful and accompanying it with a little Sav. Blanc. was perfect. We managed to eat our mouth watering lychees and ice cream for dessert, ...just... It was a large serve and sooooo cooling. Great little place in Coolum. A must try if you love Thai food. Thank you guys for a lovely evening.

Looking for somewhere to have lunch in Coolum and other than the hotel they all seem to be takeaway cafes, then the Coolum Thai Spice restaurant may be the place for you. Conveniently located on the main road opposite the caravan park, it offers a range of lunch time specials at very reasonable prices; $9.90 for noodle dishes and $12.90 for curries. There are a wide range of meats, vegetables and spices to choose from and all curries include rice. We had a yellow chicken and a red beef curry and both were extremely tasty and plentiful. Spice heat, from low to high, can be specified. Licensed so you can have a mouth cooling beer if you go for the vindaloo. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED.

Went to get a takeaway last week. Asked about their noodle dishes, was assured that the pork was crispy and the noodles stir fried. When I got back to my unit, the noodles were the dried noodles you can buy in the supermarket for $2. NOT fresh cooked. The pork was a stew, with old vegetables in it. It was disgusting and nothing I have ever seen in a Thai food establishment in my life. And I've eaten Thai food all over. The pork could've been any grey meat at all. Not crisp, just a stewed up mess. It was so inedible I threw the lot away. Never again.

Came here with my partner and enjoyed a delicious shared meal with a satay chicken and pork belly with ginger. Both came with a wonderful assortment of vegetables and the coconut rice ensured we didn’t leave hungry. The outdoor setting is very pretty with fairy lights all around.

Staying across the road it was easy to get there, to be welcomed and made comfortable by the Host and Owner who has a long history with Thailand.
The menu, classic Thai, was reasonably priced, the food tasty and the beer/wine list not the usual rip-off that increasingly appears to be the norm.
BYO offered as well.
All in all a good evening that we greatly enjoyed

My husband and I were delighted by the taste, portion sizes and really friendly service. The gentleman I placed the order on the phone with was really lovely and helpful, he talked me through my options with gluten allergy and was so accommodating.
When we went back to the hotel to eat, we dished up and were very happy with the size of the portions, he had the sweet and sour pork that had plenty of flavour and generous with the amount of fillings and meat which often at other venues can be quite skimpy. The curry was delicious, the chicken satays were again a generous serving, with delicious sauce and excellent quality.
Quite surprised by the comment below, we could not disagree more. We wanted to make sure that we left a review because we thought it was one of the best Thai food we have had in a really long time. thank you!

We thought it was time to write another great review for Phil and his team at Coolum Thai Spice. The food is always freshly prepared while you wait and it is served piping hot. We have enjoyed dine in and take away meals many times over the past 20 years. The various flavours on the menu are yummy and it is always delicious to eat. This is the place to go for fresh, filling, tasty meals in Coolum Beach. We will be continuing to visit regularly whenever we don't feel like cooking at home. Just excellent.

I’ve walked past so many times and haven’t gone in simply as it’s the third one I pass.
The food is very enjoyable, we had a mix of massaman beef, pork noodles, red curry duck and a chicken stir fry. The only negative was the fish cakes which I thought were nowhere near as good as the opposition’s.
Drink prices are a positive with beer around $5.50 and wine under $25 a bottle!
Worth a return visit, will be back!

If you're looking for great Thai food at a reasonable price and superb quality, this is the place! Be sure to book a table as it is very popular. The service was first class too, and meals arrived in a reasonable time even though they had a 'full house'. We will definitely be back!

Constantly it seems when I visit the great Sunshine Coast and visit a highly ranked establishment, it’s average. As I know from looking at previous reviews the Coolum Thai Spice asks what we had on the menu. Well we both had entrees, squid balls, mixed entree and chicken wings then Pad Thai and BBQ pork. Average. Service lacking on drinks due one person working the tables and occasional kitchen hand helping out. DONT BLAME COVID. In the kitchen it looks like it’s working well. If your really ranking this place high, you haven’t had a great Thai experience. I’m not an expert by far, but know what a good Thai meal tastes like.

Hi Christian,
Thanks for your review. Wondering how to make our meals better than average. What does a good Thai meal taste like? If you want hot, need more sauce, pepper and so on, just ask and we will provide. One waitress during the week and mor on weekends as It is difficult to get staff, both places on either side of us are short staffed and many others on the sunny coast too, just ask. Some young people today just dont want to work. We lost 4 experienced staff due to school pressures and rent issues where they live so not blaming covid. We do invite you back to try our most popular dishes and there are several stir fries, salads and curries that are favourites.

My wife and I enjoy Thai and usually every trip away we'll sit down for Thai. As far as the food is concerned, the food at Coolum Thai Spice is comparable to the mid-priced Thai one may find in Sydney or Melbourne. In fact, better than many capital city Thai eateries at less the price! Fresh, flavoursome and servings were (almost too) large. With three young kids, it was a good touch to have a 'mundane' separate kids menu also, in case your children aren't gastronomically adventurous. Beer by the bottle and wine by the glass very well priced as were most of the dishes. Very friendly and personable service that treated families with young kids with the same respect as couples - which is refreshing!

Started off ok. Thai food flavour generally good, toned down like many restaurants do. However a fly inside the curry puff was disgraceful......
Left half way through the meal and drinks. Manager offered that we pay half, apologetic of course. Paid half and continued dinner elsewhere. Can accept most things but to wrap a fly inside a curry puff- no way.

As I said to you, after 16 years of making meals and in this very hot Queensland climate with no air con in the building, it was the first and only time anything like this has happened and I apologise for that. Hopefully it will not occur again as we are very conscious of food and hygiene standards and have followed food prep policy as it is directed by Q. Health standards.

We eat a lot of Thai food and this meal did not disappoint. The service was very friendly and efficient. We had mixed entrees followed by Thai noodles, red curry duck and Jasmine rice. The food was delicious. We didn’t realise they allowed BYO wine but those on the menu were reasonably priced. They were happy for us to take our little dog, which was a bonus.
We will definitely be back on our next visit.

Really good. Really fresh. Great service. Excellent consistency of quality. Just good reliable pretty healthy Thai food. We have been going here for years. Always friendly. When they say your order will be ready in xyz minutes you can believe them. And it is consistently good fresh food.
