Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.

Stumbled across this gem, beautiful quiet location which was so relaxing sitting outside. Had the Pea and Mint Fritters and they were simply delicious and quite a surprise with how they were plated. Also had the Chilli Scrambled Eggs which were such a taste sensation and also presented so beautifully. Both foodies and these dishes were up there in taste, portion size and value. Staff friendly and welcoming..

Cafe was set in the most beautiful gardens and fruit trees and was lovely sitting outside on a perfect day. There was a little bit of a wait on the food (and to order) but we were not in a rush and we’re catching up with old friends so was a great excuse for more quality time and to earn our appetites! We had the iki mata (think South Pacific ceviche with coconut milk) which yes was a little expensive but absolutely delicious. My friend had the chilli eggs which looked yum and other the smoothie bowl (which was nice but wasn’t quite enough food for her). I had major envy of the person next to me that had the fried chicken as we were leaving- it looked amazing. In short- it’s not dirt cheap and you might wait a bit but if you’ve got time up your sleeve and want to enjoy a nice meal in a beautiful setting in a cool old historic gold rush town then this is the place for you. We chose this place based on its reviews and were very happy

Beautiful food in a lovely peaceful setting attended to by Benny who was attentive and helpful re choices of food and drink available. All four mains were a joy to behold. I had the belly pork which was amazing. Food was reasonably priced (in comparison to UK). Would also recommend the IPA drink brewed locally. Happy to recommend

Nice location, visited 0950 for coffee and hot chocolate. 20 mins late had a like warm coffee and a cold hot chocolate, despite specifically asking for a very hot hot chocolate. Takeaways were being prioritised over ‘dine in’ customers. Will not visit again .

Overpriced!! Asked for one coffee (6/10) & 2 cheese rolls (5/10) to go = $25:11c - seriously !! If someone asks for a couple of cheese rolls to go - you shouldn’t automatically charge for 3 + relish + 4 lettuce leaves - perhaps tell customers that is the deal first

Unfortunately Arrowtown is gaining a reputation as an overpriced tourist trap and as a regional local I agree. $5.50 for one small cheese roll is extortionate. Great location, staff were great but not sure you can justify $11 for lunch of two pieces of white cheap bread and cheese mix. The rolls were over done and squashed too. So inedible really.

Thank you for your feedback. As you are well aware food prices inckuding butter cheese and all dairy products have increased by more than 12% in the past year along with around a 20% wage inorease over the past couple pf years and so our pricing reflects this as we endeavour to pay our full time team the living wage.
I wish you had passed your feedback onto our team when you were here as we would have been only too happy to retoast your cheeserolls to your liking
I will pass your feedback onto our kitchen team as we try our very hardest to look after our customers and meet everyone’s expectations

The coffee and cakes are absolutely delicious and the setting is lovely. Arrowtown is a little crowded and touristy in our opinion but this cafe is just slightly to the edge with a quiet, pretty outdoor garden area. The reason for 3 stars is the service which was surly at best. The first time we came, the staff were a bit short, and I wondered whether this was because we arrived at the same time as a group of cyclists. However we dropped in again, when it was pretty quiet, and the staff were repeatedly incredibly rude. We wouldn't have come again had this been our first visit. I was told "I need to get in that fridge" as I stood trying to put my order in at the counter (the fridge was right behind me and it wasn't possible to open the door while someone was being served). I was looking for the sugar to be told "its on the table" in a very grumpy tone of voice (and there was none on our table so we had to take it from a neighbouring table) - just a couple of examples of the interactions.

This has always been our favourite Arrowtown restaurant for lunch after bike riding. We have been many times and the food has always been plentiful and delicious. Today they were super busy which was not a problem. There was not much choice for lunch. We had the Parsnip soup which came in a mug accompanied by a small bread roll for $19. The soup was warm and the consistency of tea. Not recommend.

Got some cheese rolls to take away, took one bite and thought they didn’t taste right, unrolled the bread they were filled with an awful spread didn’t look or taste like cheese and thick bread had been used that made them worse , returned them got refund, the lady behind the counter seemed embarrassed when I showed her why I was returning them. It’s not hard to make a decent cheese roll using proper
cheese. We support Provisions a lot because we love their coffee and sticky buns but they really do need to up their game on quality control!

What a gem of a place, a short walk from the main town centre. It was a bright sunny day, we sat outside where a lot of seating choice was on offer. The staff were attentive without being obtrusive. Service was quick and friendly. The food.. oh wow just wonderful. We were with our son and his partner who had flown in from Scotland. Their experience at Provisions was reminisced for the remainder of their holiday with us. They go out for Saturday breakfast most weeks around Edinburgh and the surrounds and they said they couldn't remember having a better breakfast!

We had parked at the other end of the town and walked through especially to have coffee at Provisions. A beautiful spot where we have eaten before. A rather officious lady, front of house asked us to sit at a table and wait for service. A delightful young waitress came and took our order for coffee but not knowing what pastries to choose, we asked her to come back for that part of the order. My partner tried to enter the cafe only to be told to go back and order from the table. He insisted on entering and asked staff for two slices, to be told to order from the table. By the time he came back, the coffees had been delivered and the waitress never returned for the order of slices.
We had requested extra hot coffee and it came lukewarm. It was all a bit of a disappointment especially as we had passed many other places we could have stopped at. I doubt we will return.

We've been here before for morning tea and thought we would try the breakfast menu. Eggs bene at $24 is standard but I've never had a place balance both eggs on a tiny piece of gluten free bread in lieu of a wodge of sour dough. Eggs were large, local and delicious. Anyone who has ever ordered corn fritters from a NZ cafe will probably be expecting something other than 3 beautifully presented but tiny 50 cent piece size blobs. Especially for $27. I admire you for paying people properly and using local produce but I can't justify $65 for a breakfast again this trip.

Quietly & unassumingly set in historic Arrowtown, Provisions deliciously delivers fresh organically locally sourced & uniquely created breakfast dishes.
Several weeks since our visit , our taste buds are still craving the Provisions Benedict & Brioche frangipane Bread French Toast.
I requested Salmon be added to the Benedict which added to the already uniqueness of the meal.
The staff were friendly & focused on the customers on a gorgeously sunny &’memorable day in the courtyard of this Gem of a restaurant.
Kudos to the staff, management & ownership for their dedication to deliver the best on the heels of a pandemic that continues to adversely affect the service industry
You deservedly get 5 BIG Stars from us !

We were told this was a great spot and the food was very good, slightly small portions but very good. Only disclaimer, the senior woman behind the counter was clearly overwhelmed and became bad tempered, I tried to charm her out if it but it flavoured our experience. Later she was chirpier so hopefully the change of ownership will be sorted soon.

Daylight savings ended a couple of nights ago so we were up early. The gates were open, signs out and staff at counter so we went in and were strictly told “we dont open til 8am”. Why does a cafe have signs out, gates open and tables set at 7.30am if customers arent welcome.
We did come back the next day after 8am and it seems locals and regulars welcome but we got blunt reception. No smile or welcome. Asked for cheese, spinach, tomato scones and when we got to our accommodation they had just given us a cheese.
Wouldnt go back as two visit and two bad experiences.
