My boyfriend booked us a table at Aosta to celebrate my birthday/the end of our 4 week trip to NZ and it was the best meal of the whole 4 weeks hands down! The service was personable and attentive, the food was absolutely spectacular, the...flavours and presentation of the venison carpaccio in particular! We had the lamb, bavette and ended our meal with coffee and desserts. All just absolutely delicious. Would highly recommend booking a table here of an evening, and just sit back and savour the experience Thank you guys! I just wish you weren’t so far from the UK.. 😭More

We had the chef's special taster menue with matching wine. The food was beautifully presented and tasted excellent. The service was outstanding. We had a fabulous evening and enjoyed it very much and it was worth paying for it.

We were very much looking forward to our dinner at Aosta having read good things about the restaurant. The ambience was pleasant though the music was turned up to a level where we could barely speak soon after we arrived. Our waitress appeared immediately. She...had little knowledge of the menu. I asked what kind of cut the Bavette was and she said it was beef! I told her I knew that much and could she ask the chef as I rarely eat meat and like to know what it is I’m ordering. She came back saying it was just Bavette. I gave up and looked it up in my phone and found out it was flank steak. I ordered the sole instead. I was served a 4” by 2” piece of overcooked sole, not sure how it was cooked as it had no signs of being pan fried or seared. The potatoes which came with it were undercooked so much that I could barely cut them with my fork. After this experience we decided not to chance any further dishes so we were in and in and out in 45 minutes. Definitely not worth the half hour drive at night from Queenstown. So many much better restaurants in town.More

So sad, Aosta used to be my favorite restaurant but no longer and won't be back. Everything was a letdown. The seasonal menu had a slight tweak after approx two years of being the same, the food was average and there was little care with...the presentation. Picture this - a dinner plate with rice risotto spread over the plate no more than 5-10mm deep and not dressed with anything. Weird. That wasn't the only meal that was a little lackluster. The service was slow, 10min plus to have table cleared, not offered anything else to drink or dessert which we wanted. So we went elsewhere. Just disappointing.More

We were delighted to finally get our 8 30pm Booking on February 29th. Our first small venison dish was Beautifully delightful. My husband's Lamb medallions to follow were a bit tough and salty.! I choose the Paua, with wide pasta for my main course, the...dish was tasty, but again too salty.! Our shared Turimso Italian dessert was beautifully presented by our waiter and sp delishis. Stuart enjoyed their Beer and I enjoyed the Gin Cocktail and Amisfeild Rose.More

Beautiful meal in a casual atmosphere. The pasta dishes were incredible. Like all good restaurants the menu changes with the season and we are vegetarian and had good options. We are told to not go past the Tiramisu and we were blown away!

Just a superb dinner all round. The bread was a particular highlight as was the duck pate. Great drinks, and the tiramisu was a real treat. Highly recommend, wish we lived closer!

We stopped in here hoping to get a take-away which was not allowed. That is disappointing. Their pizza was really great and we shared a starter. The waitress seemed not very happy that we didn't order a bigger meal but we didn't want a bigger...meal - we wanted something light and tasty and that is why we had hoped for a takeaway. Good food but it felt a bit pretentious to us.More

Don’t be fooled by the fancy menu if you’re an average Joe Blow; the food is amazing!!! We were super worried we’d not like anything, especially because we had to google heaps of words from the menu, but our talented waiter Griffin explained everything so...we had nothing to worry about. Prior to entering the restaurant I thought my marriage may have been in jeopardy because of a poor restaurant choice; how wrong was I! We loved everything, and when we return on our next trip, Aosta is on the top of our list for a visit.More

We live locally and had friends from Sydney join us for dinner at Aosta. The food was excellent, however what made the night a speical experience was our waiter Griffin. Griffin did an excellent job explaining the menu and wines, he was enthusiastic and knowledgeable....Nothing was too much of a problem and even though we ordered too much food, we had a lot of fun with his witty exchanges and good nature. Griffin - thanks for the brilliant evening - you're providing guests very memorable experiences and we're lucky to have you in the district.More

It never ceases to amaze me how fabulous the food is in New Zealand although it really shouldn't as we've had so many great meals over the years. With every great culinary experience, though, the bar is set just a bit higher and this trip...it is Aosta in Arrowtown that has pushed it up another notch. The menu is not extensive but is one that's hard to chose from as every dish looks fantastic! We chose 'A Taste of the South - 9 dishes, Chef's choice, Family Style' and would do again in a heartbeat as all the dishes were just outstanding and cooked using locally sourced produce. That said, the organic duck liver pate, Kina pappardelle and Provenance lamb rib were on another level again. To top it off, the wait staff are brilliant, really knowledgable and always there when needed. If it weren't for the small matter of a 4 hour flight, we go back in a flash!More
