I truly respect the amount of work the chef puts into their dining experience. The dishes are works of art. Unfortunately the food was not satisfying. In fact, something in the 16 course meal made me physically sick later that day. In addition, we paired...the dining experience with the recommended wine, but the wine was far too young and did not compliment the meal. I would only recommend Cepa 21 if the chef goes back to basics and focuses more on taste. Until then, I would not recommend Cepa 21.More

Alot of effort obviously went into the food. Couple of dishes were tasty , seemed style was more important thank flavour. I went expecting to have a Cepa wine experience and and i have to agree with previous reviewer why go to a winery too...have Cocktails, French Chamapagne and some horrible Hazlenut thing to finish. I would have been better off staying in Madrid and eating at a nice restaurant for a third of the price. Have to say the most dissapointing experince of my tril to Ribera. No wifi either???More

In region with my brother from Australia to introduce him to wines of the Ribera so strange to be given wines that were not even from Spain. Some of drinks were positively disgusting and cannot imagine anyone choosing to drink. A lot of effort clearly...goes into the food preparation and is clever but aim seems to be on style rather than substance and little had any memorable flavour.More

During our two weeks in Spain, my husband chose to be in this area, Ribera del Duero, for his birthday so I booked this restaurant to celebrate his day. We chose the 15 plates. Most of the items were delicious, some did not make sense,...like the combination of the rabo de toro in a pastry shell. It was good, but the pastry took away from the flavor. Also, the chocolate desert at the end was a bit strong and powdery and the petit four ended up being a cracked crisp that was supposed to be chicharron, but had no taste. We also received a macaroon. I guess we expected something more elegant and artistic for desert. My favorite of all the ones we ate, was the pastry filled with cheese. We tried a few of their recommended wines that were very good. The servers were wonderful. Everything was perfect and they made sure we had everything we needed. It was only the two of us and another couple that came in about an hour later. So it's a shame that the chef never came out to at least ask how we liked the food. It would have been a nice touch.More

After a visit to the modern winery and cellar, we went up to the restaurant, which we had booked a couple of weeks in advance. The tasting menu included 15 courses, so consider a very light breakfast. The food is not just delicious, it´s also...beautifully presented, considering the shape, disposition and the dishes, so please take a look at the pictures. It´s a mixture of nouvelle cuisine and molecular cuisine that makes a great experience. My husband and I spent 4 days in the area and this was the top restaurant. The tasting menu includes a Cepa 21 wine bottle and during July 2019 was 60 euros per person. Take in consideration they don´t take American Express.More

Cepa 21 provided us with a learning journey in tasting food and wine from Ribeira del Duero based on the aromas and region itself. Each dish is beautifully presented, even down to the delicate, patterned glass tableware, and was accompanied by an explanation from our...hostess who gave us an insight into its origins and what we should expect upon tasting. The Chef provides a whole new innovative EXPERIENCE on what can be created from this magnificent region. We had the MÉNU CEPA 21 and highly recommend it. Absolutely a MUST to try!!More

Outstanding service and very good food. It felt like a really special treat, would definitely recommend this place for a special occasion. The staff recommended one of their red wines to go with the food, turned out to be excellent. We basically went on a...journey through Spain, discovering various regions & specialties. However we went for a larger menu, and it was simply too much for me for a lunch. I am sure the standard menu would have been plenty !More

One of the best Restaurants ever. We had a eight course lunch menu after the vineyard visit. Absolutely fantastic. Usually these menus start good but fade in the end. Not now! The food just reached new levels with every new dish. The desert was the...ultimate ending of the lunch. The desert looked like chorizo, calamari, aioli, blood pudding, eggs and bacon but all dishes were sweet deserts. Fantastic humor:)More

We opted for the grand menu (€60) and unfortunately didn't enjoy the "out there experience" the chefs were trying to capture. For the North American taste, the items were just too strange. Thank you very much for your confidence in the C21 experience and for visiting the Ribera del Duero.

If touring the Ribera wine area make sure to book this restaurant. We had done a wine tour at their sister winery, the famed Emilio Moro, earlier on. Cepa 21 is about 20 km away and very different in style. On Sundays you can only...have a tasting menu, we opted for the smaller one at €45 for about 10 courses. (The bigger one is about €55). Since I was driving I could only have one glass, and I had the excellent Cepa 21. But if you really want to indulge, the wine pairing is only another €10 for an artisanal beer, 2 glasses of wine and 1 dessert wine (a Moscado IIRC). The food: started with some appetisers, including delicious croquettes, a tiny pastry with mashed potatoes, a chocolate "pebble" filled with cheese, a squid sandwich, and our favourite, lobster in a rich seafoody broth. Then came "Autumn" (that's all the menu said). We discovered it to be dried mushrooms, bonito and other root vegetables, over which was poured a cream of pumpkin soup. Followed by another soup, this time fish. We thought we were doing ok, portions were small, but then came the main, a humongous plate of extremely tender, rare steak (the menu listed as cow loin), with a side of delicious creamy potatoes!! After this was the dessert, cheese and "macaroni", followed by chocolate "sausage" to go with your coffee. Needless to say we had to skip dinner. Awesome food, great service with lavish presentations of each course, even though English was not that strong. The menu was in English and we were each given a small card printed with the courses so we could follow.More
