Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Great venue with plenty of parking and good outlook outside. Friendly staff. Wonderful selection of cabinet food. Ordered the seafood chowder and have to say I have never seen it like this. It is a thin seafood soup that needs more seafood and more oomph....Very overpriced for a soup. Great coffee though.More

Café clean but felt the prices were very high for a café off the menu. My food was dry and salad was just Lettice which looked a bit sad with 1 half cherry tomato. Had to order at the counter and pay which i don't...mind but again with high prices we are doing all the work as no table service .Also had to get our own water glasses only with no water bottle that I saw to take to table so had to get a refill as small glasses .Staff were pleasant.More

Some friendly staff but weak knowledge and poor service. Coffee was disappointing and light food of mixed quality. On other hand, clean and fresh look after reopening.

The cafe itself is welcoming and lovely and bright with a view out onto some of the golf course. The staff were friendly and very lovely. The food was delicious, tasty and very appealing. The coffee was just perfect. I highly recommend No.5 cafe for...a get together with friends or family or just on your own. It is a beautiful spot.More

Want to buy a milk shake. Don't. $8 for 1/2 cup off warm, fluffy, flavored milk. Don't think so. What a rip off.

Was not impressed. Seafood chower was a very thin soup. Eggs Benedict has steamed bacon not grilled. Service was bad. Waitresses reaching across you to take plates and spilling knives and forks on ground when they could have walked around to get them. Will not...be backMore

Yesterday I enquired for a High Tea for granddaughters 8th birthday for this afternoon. Pretty cheeky request (I thought at late notice) …. but not for the wonderful chef and staff at No.5 Cafe - they went out of their way to produce two beautiful...tiered plates filled with yummy treats. Carrot cake to die for! Coffees and hot chocs all delicious. We will return!More

This was my third visit to No 5. There is a lovely selection of cabinet food as well as a table service menu. I have had brunch and lunch and both were delicious. Lovely gift shop to browse through too. Just be prepared to wait...a bit as they are a bit under staffed.More

I ordered the Cashew Nut Curry when I was having a family reunion lunch. When my curry came out our collective faces dropped. The curry consisted of a bowl of rice with a bland uncurry-like sauce topped with (and I kid you not) a cup...of Watties frozen diced veggies- corn, peas and carrots. There might have been 10 cashews. For this I paid $23.More

This has to be the worst meal I have had in a long time. My sister had cashew nut curry. This was topped with Watties carrot, peas and corn diced frozen vegetables. When the Hawkes Bay is known for the freshest vegetables it is beyond...belief. Tasteless too. My meal was Asian pork. Pork cooked perfectly but to use Asian supermarket salad mix which they cooked and supermarket packet crispy noodles is appalling. Also tasteless. Changed top dollar as well. Don’t go.More

As a group of friends (2 couples) we booked a table for 12.30 on Saturday 29th Jan. We arrived half an hour early, and were a little disappointed that our table was very small, and right in the centre of the restaurant. We asked if...we could move to a larger table outside, as it was a beautiful day, and this was accommodated without any issues whatsoever. The restaurant was fairly quiet, and as a result, we weren't rushed at any point, and enjoyed a long leisurely delicious brunch, watching people on the driving range. As an added bonus (in my opinion), Abba was playing throughout our whole visit, which was perfect for me (I accept that not everyone is an Abba fan!). The food was fabulous, and the service was great.More

Family and friends x 7 with a 2 1/2 year old grandson. Service was excellent and staff great, and drinks came out quickly. Food range from Gluten free smash avos to big breakfast. Though they forgot the bacon on the big breakfast it was quickly...rectified. Also yummy berry smoothie which I could had a jug of the smoothie. Coffee delicious. A great stop whether playing golf and a quick bite or friends and family outing.More

Don’t go if you are gluten free, no food in the cabinet, except for dessert which would have been better. Can order from the menu at double the price.I couldn’t believe how bad it was
