I booked this meal at a time when I thought four of us ( me +hubby +2 adult daughters) would be having brunch on a busy Art Deco Weekend. As it transpired, the Deco was officially cancelled due to risk of Covid, and our 2 daughter pulled out. But we went ahead with our brunch anyway. The setting is lovely- just a little out of Havelock North, down a driveway. Big pavilion of a building with an expansive lawn and an adventure playground an trampoline for the children. In fact, there were many young families enjoying a brunch there, knowing their littlies could run off to the nearby play area.. We sat in the conservatory- shaded and with cool breezes blowing past- welcome on a hot summer day. We enjoyed a lovely coffee, a surprising chocolate & peanut butter milkshake, a Caesar salad and a classic Eggs Benedict with salmon. Food was lovely, service was friendly and relaxed. Nothing too surprising here and all very enjoyable. Recommended.

We visited here for an early lunch while on a short holiday based in Napier. We had been here several years earlier and really liked it, so we chose to return. We arrived just after 11.30am on a Tuesday and were greeted by a very friendly staff member, who showed us to a table right by the window. We both chose the Beef and Bacon Burger, me with hashtag fries and hubby with normal fries. It was really lovely, a big meal that neither of us could quite finish. There was a good choice of items on the menu. It’s not cheap, but I’m very happy that it gives very good value for money. The burgers had double meat patties, cheese, lettuce, tomato, bacon, aioli on a brioche bun. We chose to have just water with our meal, but there is a large range of wines/beers etc should you wish to have some. There is ample parking right at the door, and the restaurant has both indoor and outdoor seating. The toilets are light, airy, and very clean. Would definitely recommend. Oh, and there was excellent music on the sound system, lots of Motown tracks, my kind of music. And even the bloke on the ride-on mower was nice, he gave us a wave as he buzzed past the window!

Booked at the last minute and got the table at 7.30pm. The table was very well positioned right by the window so we could see the kids playing outside. Didn't have to wait long for the meals to arrive and "surf & turf" was delicious, the prawns were particular very nicely cooked. The kids had steak and cheeseburger from the kids menu and really enjoyed them, generous size of the kids meals. Overall was 10 out of 10 visit.

Food very good great lunchen menu reasonably priced for a party of 10 Had ordered a Cake and was lovely well recieved. Staff happy to take photos and pack remainder of the cake up to take home. As we were out in the Conservetary we had to catch the waiters eye once or twice, other than that perfect.

We are regulars here and we thoroughly enjoyed our recent visit. Big restuarant with a lovely atmosphere (and a good view of Te Mata Peak when its not dark/raining. The service was attentive and the food was excellent - especially the lamb shanks and the passionfruit cheesecake. The menu is smaller than in past but still plenty of appealing choices. We will be back!

This visit we had a lunchtime catch up with old friends for a special birthday. They were very patient with our dragged out decisions about what we wanted. The food was well cooked, presented and very tasty. Because it was lunchtime and they weren’t busy they were quite happy for us to sit around and chat after our meal

My first time to Off the Track and first impressions is that it was lovely and spacious. The art work displaying the walls was very nice too. I was starving, I ordered pork belly for entrée and scotch steak for main, both were tasty, although if I had one gripe it would be that the pork belly was missing the usual crispy crackling atop and instead 3-4 little squiggly pieces of crackling were garnished around the plate, but still tasty nevertheless. For dessert I had kahlua cheesecake which was also nice however a new spin on this didn't work for me and that was the cheesecake was missing the usual crumbly biscuit under the cheesecake and instead a bit of crumble was displayed around and just not enough to cut through all the cream and so then you were left with a wobbly bit of flavored cream cheese though the Kahlua flavor was yum. The chocolate wafer was delicious but the added ice cream and cream were just a little bit too much. Maybe a side of berries or coulis would do. Service was great and our waiter was excellent. The background music volume was perfect too. Overall it was a lovely evening with full tummies when we left. 6 dishes and 2 drinks $170

Positives: Nice view, the food was tasty and there were generous portions. Negatives: Our mains arrived immediately after we had finished our starters. By immediately, I mean they were taking away our starter plates (which we had only just finished) at the same time as putting the mains on the table. It was actually worse than that. My other half could see the kitchen and they were going to bring the mains out while we were still eating our starters. Apparently, the waitress sent them back (kudos to her). I had the lamb loin which was tasty but VERY undercooked (I like my meat pink but this was far too far on the rare side, especially for lamb). After we finished our mains, we waited to have our plates cleared and look at the dessert menu. We were ignored (despite efforts to catch the eye of staff). After about 20 minutes, we left. My other half raised our issues, but he said they didn't seem too bothered about them. Disappointing. Also didn't see a Covid QR code at the door (but may have missed it). I did a manual entry on my app to record the visit. I think this would be a lovely place for a few drinks and snacks. They need to work on their systems if they want to be a restaurant serving meals.

This out of the way place is a gem if you can find it!! I never would had gone there except for a recommendation from family. The service was exceptional and the menu (while not huge) was very good for the group I was with. The food was amazing and the atmosphere was very good - not too loud so could actually have a conversation. I will definitely be back!

We booked for dinner here last week and unfortunately was not the best. It was a bit of a barn, but could see how it would be popular with families given the outdoor space and playground. We ordered dinner husbands was okay the pork loin, a bit on cool side, but vegetables hot, mine beef cheeks cold, gravy bit congealed and vegetables really cold - anyhow, I did say something when waitress came back to check and she took meal away to be heated; returned with meat and gravy hot vegetables cold can’t say I ate a lot. Anyhow told waitress when she cleared plates, she came back and offered a free dessert, but given experience with main it was last thing I wanted to try. Paid for our meals and left, never to return and never to recommend to anyone

We hadn't booked so chanced our luck and staff found us a table. They did apologise that they had a very large group in and things were slower than they would like but they could accommodate us. They took our drinks order quickly and did say food orders couldn't be taken for a little while. No problem - being warned is good, you know what to expect. There were several larger groups there and staff were extremely busy. One group was completely over the top - or at least their kids were. Kids allowed to roar through the dining area disrupting patrons and generally creating havoc. Not really sure why parents think this is acceptable but this lot did. One larger group of diners near us told the kids to clear off and were greeted with absolute cheek and rudeness (this from preschoolers!) Staff were amazingly tolerant and kept apologising but this was way beyond their pay grade! We eventually had our orders taken and food delivered. My steak was absolutely divine - melt in the mouth deliciousness!! Husband had just as good an experience with his dish. Staff were attentive making sure we had drinks and clearing plates etc, and offering the next course or desserts. A winning team and a great dining experience.

I took myhusband, son, daughter In law & grandchildren out for lunch to celebrate my birthday whilst in Napier. We went here because it was child friendly and recommended by my daughter In law as a good place for the children. My Grand daughter had a beef burger that was dry, the bun hard and so all that was eaten was a few of the chips and her fruit drinks, the menu handed out (4) 2 were old ones and 2 were new and the entree that we ordered was not available as it was on the old one. In place of this we ordered wedges as an entree but was so big that it was shared between all 4 of the adults & grandson, hence when the main meal was brought out most of the family ate only a small portion of it and I asked for mine to be made as a takeaway to go. I must say the playground was wonderful for the children to play in, the food apart from the childs meal was nicely presented but overpriced. My daughter in law said it was disapointing as in the past the meals they had had were good but agreed that this time t was not the best experience.

We had the pleasure of celebrating our 50th wedding anniversary at this restaurant last Saturday night and the service and food was exceptional. Would like to mention one staff member ( Gunika ) who was the most attentive and professional lady I have ever had the pleasure of serving me. Our guests commented like wise. Everyone’s meals were cooked to perfection. A huge thank you to all the staff for making our night run smoothly and my husband and I have no trouble in recommending your restaurant to anyone.
