My husband and I had a Lovely stay at the Duke The room was stunning, with a balcony overlooking the water The food was delicious and the service was great. Nothing was too much trouble. My husband went fishing and the chef was kind enough...to cook his catch for our lunch that day Highly recommend staying here and we will be backMore

We ate here Saturday night, and once again were impressed with our meals. We are from Opua and moved here 12 months ago, so we eat here semi-regularly. We have always been impressed with the food. Service was very fast and most staff were excellent...(one waitress was a little aloof, but still efficient).More

Very pleased that we chose The Duke to celebrate my wife's birthday last Tuesday. The meal was excellent as was the service and we look forward to a return to what must be one of the loveliest dinner settings in the Bay of Islands.

We took another couple with us to dinner last night. Excellent food and very good service. All the tables were well apart to comply with the Covid 19 restrictions. The oysters were very good, the fish was great and the steak and Pork ribs were...all commented on. Thanks again for the good service and great atmosphere for a good meal.More

We have never been disappointed with the food and again, it was amazing! Beautiful fish and plenty. We ordered a side dish but didn't need as there was plenty and struggled to eat it all. The desert was incredible - best cheesecake we have had....Meal spaced out well so didn't feel rushed. The serving staff were very friendly and pleasant. Was lovely dining in the restaurant (due to Covid seating restrictions), was quiet felt like we had the place to ourselves.More

What an amazing place. I had no idea that it was right on the waterfront with a view over the wharf and Harbour. We had lunch here 😋 and both chose fish and chips, which were some of the best I have ever eaten, crisp...and delicious, with a lovely salad and dressing. The service was efficient and friendly and we thoroughly enjoyed our visit to this iconic Russell hotel.More

Beautiful setting, friendly and helpful staff, good food. Best fish I have had in a long time. Generous portions, I don't think most people would need side dishes, we ordered but could not finish.

Had read about the historical significance of the hotel in the area so thought it would be worth a visit. Went in at lunch time, although we didn’t have a booking, we were seated straight away. Lots of busy tables already. Most people seemed to...be having a seafood dish. We both had the beer battered fish and chips=it was absolutely delicious! Could not fault it. Fresh fish, light batter, salty chips and a yummy dressing on the salad. Had a ‘tropical’ mocktail, it was sweet and refreshing- definitely recommend. Two drinks and two lunch meals came in at $78, a little pricey for me but we enjoyed it all the same.More

We had an enjoyable night at the Duke. Food & service were nice. Was surprised at casual dress of staff as not as impressed as our last visit over 10 yrs ago.

It’s a pretty casual place so I don’t think there is a dress code. It’s a Tavern with salads and such so vegetarian items likely available
