This place is probably one of the best winery restaurants we have been to and we have been to quite a few. The views are out of this world.... the foreground bathed in green and in the distance, gorgeous vistas of the Bay of Islands....We just kept saying “wow” for the first ten or so minutes we were there. The food was gorgeous too. We started by sharing the delicious sour dough toasts which were topped with whipped goats cheese, honey and shaved prosciutto. Following that we had the Kingfish Crudo and the Smoked Gemfish linguini - both were amazing. For our mains we had the Line Caught Snapper and the Crayfish Risotto - the snapper was beautifully cooked and went extremely well with the accompanying artichoke, red onion and nduja relish and citrus butter sauce. The risotto was packed with crayfish and was very indulgent, my small critique was that the pieces of fennel were a bit too big. We had a number of wonderful glasses of the Paroa Bay Chardonnay, the oaked and unoaked as well as the Omata Pinot Gris. It was a lovely lazy lunch in the sun. The icing on the cake is that the winery shuttle will do pick up and drop off in Russell so you don’t have to worry about driving. Our driver was friendly and provided us with some good conversation for the 15 minute trip there and back. If you are in the area, you must visit.More

Fabulous food. We were staying at the Paroa Bay Chalets and had been recommended to go to Sage. We ordered a selection of small dishes as we weren’t overly hungry. The Paua pot pie, cloudy bay clams, duck and crayfish risotto were amazing. The service...was excellent. Visit.More

My wife and I booked dinner at Sage while spending a long weekend in Russell. The views, food, wine and service were all terrific. Everything delivered with poise and genuine warmth and unobtrusive friendliness. We have been to several “top” restaurants in Auckland recently. This...was as good if not better. It was a great evening. Nga mihiMore

Visited with Whanau locals at their recommendation. We weren't disappointed! We all had the tasting plate and it was gorgeous. Wine from the vineyard was delicious. Courtesy coach there and back was a great service too.

Wonderful place to go for a lovely long lunch. Food was amazing and good portions and their Chardonnay was just beautiful. Fantastic views out over the bays and couldn't fault anything. The pickup from the Russell Wharf for the 4 of us made it an...easy choice. Well done we will return.More
