My wife & I were made to feel so welcome at Urban, by all the staff. There is a real can do attitude here. After our waiter explained it was a sharing menu with lots of local produce we chose Japanese style fresh fish escabeche,...More

We had a fantastic meal, the food was outstanding!! You have lots of options to choose off the menu and they are all packed with fantastic flavours, with most of the produce sourced from the locals area and the staff couldnt be more helpful. Highly...More

Saturday for lunch, 4 adults, 2 kids. The service was fantastic, the 2 guys who served us were attentive and polite and had great food and drink knowledge. Some of our group enjoyed raw oysters which were delicious. Mains were shared plates and included the...More

Had to try the Oysters!! I am a fan of ‘kilpatrick’ and their version was nice to try! The tempura oysters were a hit!! The beer was good too- try NZ beer to match!

Please take at least one day of visit to Nelson New Zealand to walk the village of art galleries and memorial to WW 1 veterans and small restaurants. This small venue has fantastic service and very good selection of oysters and fresh fish items!

This place was really humming when the rest of Nelson CBD was so quiet!! Was a bit dubious about the plate sharing, but in the end, really enjoyed it. The food was great, staff friendly but not intrusive and lively atmosphere. Would definitely recommend this...More

Urban menu, kitchen and flavours exceptional, but be warned it is a simple street front bar, high stools rustic setting. No fancy tablecloths, no maitre d, but boy the seafood is cooked or not with perfect love. Id generously recommend and dress casual. Be surprised.

Urban Oyster Bar & Eatery is Nelson's newest and most innovative dining experience. Don't be afraid to put your elbows on the table and engage us and your fellow diners. Get to know us and what's inspiring us today. We'll be delivering the things we're currently passionate about on each plate we serve. We hope you come with a curious spirit ready for the experience of what an eatery is all about. Our menu changes regularly with respect to what we are into at the moment, whether it's an ingredient, band, chef or current event. Our goal is to make everyone feel like whanau - whether it is your first or fortieth time. We believe that serving up good juju isn't just in the food and drink, but in the attitude and atmosphere which makes Urban the perfect place to stop in and refuel. Our menu is innovative and fresh .. Enjoy a freshly shucked oyster or for the more courageous crispy pigs ears! We have no reservations which applies does not apply to groups of 8 or more. Feel free to share a table with some locals, or visitors for that matter. Eating is a sharing experience!
