They do other meals, but I'm here for their fried fish. They will grill your fish order for a small surcharge, but again, I'm here for a fried fish meal - Spot on, and fresh oil in their fryer.... pick the gurnard if they list it as fish of the day - always a good fried fish. Good chips - a bad chip experience will kill a meal. Next door to Sprig and Fern, who no longer allow the Chippy to send your order over to be eaten in their pub - but their beer and cider is good. This Chippy is the top pick for me in my home town of Nelson.

Fish and chips

Just moved to the neighbourhood and been here a few times now, the food is good, however, at first I found the staff to be stand offish and rude and thought it was an isolated incident but these attitudes apare consistant, given the relatively high price and customer experience I would recommend as a last resort option.

Good but overpriced.

The chips are probably the best I've ever had, but the fish is always disappointingly small, compared to virtually every other fish and chip shop in Nelson. Still, they make an effort.

Ok food not so good service

We were a bit late ordering but were told we could still order fish and chips but not pizza or burgers. That was fine, so I put in order. When we returned the two young girls working there smirked at each other when we came back to pick up order. Not friendly at all. Won’t be back.

Nasty chicken

We had our first takeaway for weeks. What a disappointment. We ordered 2 pizza as we usually do. Service was good under lockdown. But the chicken and brie pizza was horrible, with grey, strong tasting chicken. The Italian was so greasy it was dripping as we ate it. Not sure what happened, but I don't think we'll be back.

Best fish & chips in Nelson!

Batter was tasty and the fish cooked to perfection. The hand cut agria chips are amazing. I've also had their pizza which was delicious. Can't wait to try other items on the menu but it's hard to not just order the fish & chips! Highly recommend going here. AAA+++

Looking forward to a blue cod meal and found it along with fresh gurnard Beautifully cooked and presented the batter was light and delicious

Would not go back!

Not Gourmet at all, The Fish and hot dogs barely had a batter on them & Nobody liked them. They were extremely oily and soggy as were the chips and we had only driven down the road. Would not return back

We are locals and have tried many of the fish and chips shops in Nelson this is by far the best. The chips are golden not brown like you get when they don’t change the oil in the fryer often enough - we always order the gurnard and chips the portion is generous and the price reasonable - they have pizza, salads, and burgers - we usually just go for the great fish n chips. The place has easy parking out front - in summer you can get takeaway and go across street and hike to Center ofNZ to enjoy your food with a view!

Very clean and tidy

Decided to get fish and chips from the Milton Street the other day and had them on the table up at Walters Bluff in the sun.The food was well cooked,the scallops were a good size, the mussels were ok,the fish was a bit dry,,but the chips were real good.The first fish-chips shop that I have seen the owner check the temperature of the scallops to confirm they were cooked.

My partner and I got fish and chips from the Milton Street fish and chip shop, Friday night it was busy and we waited half an hour for our order, this wait was not advised when we paid. At home we unwrap our purchase, 2 pieces of fish of the day, one scoop of chips and a potato flip. The package was concerning small but it is hard to tell before you unwrap, our concerns were legitimate the portion was pathetic. The scoop of chips was barely enough for one and at $5 not cheap, chips aren't even expensive for to produce so why be so stingy? The fish was fine, potato flip average. Wouldn't visit again which is a shame as we are local.

A lovely dash of fish and chips or a pizza to go ask and you shall receive as i did a must sleep in Milton motel or hotels just a cross the road swimming pool and a since of peace sighting the mountains views taking in the lovely staff and gathering of people very friendly and inviting I will return
