Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Two years on from my last post, Brick just keeps getting better and better. We had the flat bread with the slow roasted lamb and it was sublime. The skewers are ace and the fish of the day cooked to perfection. Add to that a...carefully curated wine list that caters to all tastes. And all this comes with a smile and fabulous service. Thanks guys. We'll be back soon.More

Very underrated food and service. The food here is fabulous and the service was excellent. We enjoyed flatbread, mussels and a Caprise salad for starters with the gurnard and roast chicken for mains. Wow everything was delicious, well presented and the server was outstanding.

Can't believe it. All the 5 stars. Looked good on social media. Just hype, poor food, and service is average overall. regret that you have to live with forever that you paid $250 for two people's dinner for a sports bar food presented as fine...dining. I can give many fantastic recommendations for better steak places. try the pubs. Anyone would beat it. Can’t believe some people gave it five stars. Do they really mean it?More

At Bricks, we experienced a culinary delight. The selection of healthy, local dishes exceeded our expectations. The corn on the cob was perfectly seasoned, the grilled zucchini had an ideal consistency, and the flatbreads were a true indulgence. The mushrooms, with a satisfying bite, offered...a well-spiced combination. The tender lamb impressed with its robust flavor. However, it wasn't just the food that captivated us; the helpful, cheerful, and friendly staff contributed to an all-around positive experience. The location, nestled by the water, added a special tranquility and beauty to the setting. We look forward to our next visit!More

I’ve spent 6 weeks thus far in New Zealand. The Kiwi’s are great people and the friendly, attentive service I’ve received from little country coffee shops through to high-end restaurants in Christchurch has been excellent. I stopped in at the Brick Eatery on the way...back from a cycle ride. I’d really enjoyed lunch at Jellyfish in Mapua and thought I would call in for a quick drink and to take a look at the menu with a view to eat there during my stay. Whilst admittedly I was sweaty having ridden 10 miles against the wind I was polite and far from scruffy. I was happy to sit in the garden and requested a beer to drink. The Indian waiter said fine and that he would bring it out. I sat there for a considerable time. It was quiet and they readily served people who arrived after me and who were already sat there. It became very apparent that thanks to their pretentious nature they had decided to simply blank me. Prior to departing I spoke to another member of staff who must have realised I was unhappy and he also chose to do nothing. This place really needs to get over itself. In the big scheme of things it’s certainly nothing special both in terms of its decor or food. Absolutely appalling attitude!More

We called in here while out for a bike ride and we're told we couldn't park our bikes in the courtyard where they would have been visible yet out of the way of other diners. We were told to park them outside the gate where...we went but there was nothing to secure them to so we left and won't be going back. With so many cyclists in Nelson there should be at least a few designated bike parks here, it wouldn't take much.More

Have now been 2 days in a row and will be back there again before we leave Nelson to go home. Great coffee and the best cheese scones ever - hot, slightly toasted and with the right amount of soft butter! Great service and a...fabulous place to have them with great outdoor area, view etc. Right on the taste trail if you’re biking.More

Friday afternoon relaxing in the sun with lovely views. My wife & I thoroughly enjoyed our afternoon listening to Trudi Wilson. Fabulous. We shared oysters and the Pate' with charred sourdough and a bottle of Squawking Magpie Chardonnay.

If all restaurants were as good as this, the world would be a happier place. Basically perfect. Do not go if you are wanting a cheap or large meal. If you appreciate quality and do not mind paying for it, this the place for you....I will be back.More

Very, very good lunch. Loved the mussels. The tartare and risotto were also top-notch. Staff also very good - especially with managing a seafood allergy at the table. Would love to go back for dinner sometime.

I had the very best meal I have had in all my 20 years of living in NZ. Beautiful setting, friendly, professional service and superb food. Subtle flavours, cooked to perfection. I will definitely be back and fortunately live near enough to make that possible.
