Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Great atmosphere with an interesting mix of dishes. We were not super hungry so sadly could only eat two dishes. Service was excellent and would return

Some locals recommended this Hawkers bar, and it did not let us down. A great range of real ales are on offer and the ones I had were good. Food plates are to share, so you pick 3-4 items to share. The chicken and Duck...were good, with sides . The place had a good feel about.. Prices average ..More

We were made to feel very welcome upon arrival even though we hadn’t booked . They were very busy and short of space but actually this was fortuitous as we ended up in front of the open kitchen and could watch and talk to the...owner whilst he was in the kitchen . I’m not a big fan of vinegar in food which made this a bit of a precarious choice . However they made us feel very welcome and offered tastes of the sauces so I could approve . If not they could have put them on the side but there was no need as all were great . We had a fabulous meal and were made to feel very welcome and looked after perfectly. Thank youMore

Nice long and inventive cocktail list, and sake (!), along with delicious food and attentive service. We enjoyed Peking duck, pork pot stickers, grilled courgette, and super spicy squid for my husband ( who loved the fact of something so tasty and spicy that he...was sweating!). Everything was delicious.More

It was a lovely summer day and we enjoyed sitting outside, as inside it was a bit dark, I assume lovely in wintertime. The menu is interesting, plates to share - which is something we always do anyway- and the flavours were great. Interesting drink...menu! Great place to catch up with friends and have a good evening! Friendly service!More

Out of the four dishes we ordered, one was great, the sashimi. The fries were good, the dumplings and the belly pork were okay but nothing special. Maybe we expected too much. At the start we were told to order three or four dishes (we...were with two of us), so we could share dishes. To be honest, three or even two dishes woud have been enough.More

It was a big dissapointment to eat here. It looks good but it tasted not very good. It’s tapas but not like we are used to have. And expensive for wat you get.

The alliteration aside, this is a very good restaurant. We had several of the dishes; dumplings, sirloin, and chicken. All were delicious and reasonable portions for the price. As stated elsewhere, the theme is around a Hawker house which is a style of food service...I've experienced in Saigon and Hanoi where multiple hawkers are under one roof and you select from different menus. The oddity here is that all the items come from one kitchen, yet they keep the random order and timing of the items. I'm sure this gives some efficiency to the kitchen. Each of the individual items was flavorful and able to stand alone, so this is not a big problem, just different. Similarly to a tapas restaurant, the experience would be more varied with more than two people at the table. I would have tried more items, but it would have meant either stuffing myself or leaving food wasted. I had a tequila cocktail from their menu and while the drink was tasty, I could not have told you what liquor was in it (this is probably more a function of the 30cl pour in NZ than anything else). I found the description on TripAdvisor to be a bit confusing, and even speaking to three people in the restaurant, I remain unclear. The description states that there are three separate dining areas, and that booking is required to get the first two. We booked for the second seating (8:30) and received our confirmation. When we arrived we were concerned that seating in the back of the restaurant would be too loud and asked if the menu near the bar was the same. We were assured that it was. After asking our server about the differences, he stated that there was no difference. The third person who stopped by unprompted by us, said that yes, there are a couple things that were available in the chef's table and raised seating that were not on the hawker menu. All this said, exceptional food, beer was great, and if I lived here it would be a regular stop.More

What a delightful experience! Super spicy dishes from a short but well balanced menu, served engagingly and well. We sat outside early on a warm evening. Perfect!

Excellent innovative menu. Really great tasty food. Loved the things we ordered and could have had more. The ceviche was fab and the courgettes like none I’ve had before. Fantastic. Service was friendly and efficient

A great spot for dinner or a quick bite and right in town. Staff are awesome and entertaining. Sit at the window and people watch. Will return when next in Nelson.

We prebooked and good job too, it was very buzzy / busy which created a good atmosphere. Food is with an Asian twist and comes tapas style, when it's ready. Our steaks were delicious and good choice of beer and wine too

We ate here on our first night in Nelson. The menu all sounded delicious and we didn’t know what to pick. Not sure if we chose wrong but we were all a bit disappointed(3 out of 4 of us). We had the duck, the beef...dumplings and the chicken. I personally would have liked more sauce on the chicken. My fiancé thought it was all delicious. The edamame beans I couldn’t stop eating - a good one for nibblesMore

We make a visit once a year in the hope we finally understand what the fuss is about. This time the food was pretty decent - other than the fact that we had to wait over an hour for one of the dishes! We pointed...the delay out several times, only to be continually fobbed off (whilst seeing the same dish served to other tables). Admit it guys, you lost the order, and make it right! But no, they did not..........never again.More
