Clearly liked by the locals this café has a lovely ambience and offers good café-style food with an Argentinian twist (it is associated with Cucina next door). The potato cakes were a nice touch (full of flavour with a crispy coating) but the tiny poached...eggs served up with it were a disappointment.More
I had a solo breakfast here and chose the potato and smoked fish hash with watercress, salsa verde and poached eggs. The watercress and salsa verde were a small garnish, but most disappointing was the singular poached egg when the menu said eggs. There were...plenty of cubed potatoes, though these were also not what I expected of a hash. My mistake probably.
The decor is quite cool with pot plants.More
From the moment we phoned to make a booking we had difficulty with the staff person. They literally did not know the date and tried to book us in for the following week. The same staff member waited our table (at dinner at Cuisina, the...evening brand of the business) and did not know what the meat specials were. Mentioned that she thought it might be pork. We went to Tees St for lunch, sat down and waited. No one bought out a menu and we were ignored. We eventually made our way to the counter after 10mins and were sharply told that the kitchen closed at 2pm. Would have been good to know when we walked in at 1:55. All in all pretty good food but suffering a little on the customer service.More
We'd read about this cafe in the travel supplement of our local paper. It was said to have the best coffee in Oamaru so we decided we had to pay a visit on our road trip south of Christchurch. We were singularly unimpressed, the coffee...we were served, a long black and a flat white, were pretty mediocre. The cafe was busy at the time so perhaps a consequence of the barista being rushed but should not happen in a well run cafe. Also thing the food is a bit overpriced, based purely on paying $22.00 for a small Reuben sandwich. The next day we had a coffee at the Badger & Mackerel Cafe and it was absolutely Top Knotch. Sorry Tees Street, but you need to lift your game.More
We visited this site twice, once for brunch at Tees Street and once for dinner at Cucina. The staff were exceptional both visits, the food was high quality and great value and the coffee was delicious. Definitely the best spot for brunch (and dinner!) in...Oamaru!More
Went here for lunch in the weekend with a friend. Luckily we managed to get a seat! It was busy in there. Loved the decor inside and the bright turquoise wall. The toilets were really nice and clean. Cabinet food was good and the menu...was really well put together. We got a donut each and I got the lamb shoulder and my friend got the super bowl. We were both very happy with our food. Lovely place and would recommend.More
