A Great tasting smooth espresso in perfectly sized and heated cups and these people offer an excellent service. Surely if shelves are nearly empty in a small, local bakery then that is a positive sign? The scrambled eggs on their excellent bread had finely chopped...flavourings and were delicious. There are many good places for food and coffee in Oamaru but this is a great one. Thanks.More

Dear Aranuiboy Wonder how one could ask for a reheated croissant? Once a croissant has been baked to perfection (as these bakery consistently does) you don't ask for it to be reheated! Only Poms and their descendents would ask for this! Every decent European and...especially French would be horrified! So if you are a gourmet and know what a real croissant (with real butter, not palmoil) should taste like - go and try these awesome croissants you get here. Take it from a half French, half Swiss, half Kiwi bloke (???)More

Maybe this place has gone downhill lately. We went on a Saturday morning and there were just a few pastries in the cabinet and a few breads. A small menu offered fruit pancakes which were rather strange floury oily numbers with bits of banana in...them and some dairy whip. We ordered a croissant which was to be reheated. If it was flaky and crisp before, the burst in the microwave destroyed it. The coffee was ok. Maybe Germans don’t do French well?More

We are sorry that we did not live up to your expectations. We are surprised that you did not like our home made pancakes, as they are usually very well received, but admittedly very different to the ready bought ones. Unfortunately the microwave will negatively...More

We were staying at a relative's house nearby. We wanted somewhere close to have breakfast as we were planning a morning at home to work. We chose Vinbrux because it was walking distance and got so many great reviews. We had a lovely breakfast and...even took away a couple of extra treats for later. Good coffee. Owned and run by a lovely German family. The breads are delicious!More

Everything that you can imagine in a European Bakery, and Kaffeehaus. Only a few moments off the main North/South Highway, with plenty of parking right outside the door. Let your senses lead you! Sweet sights, and smells, and tasty treats.

If it’s coffee and a sweet treat you are after, this is a great option. Being a German bakery, the options are as you would expect - pastries, strudel, rolls, with a couple of unfamiliar and enticing new options. Although not listed on the blackboard,...when we asked for toast at breakfast time they were happy to oblige. We were offered a choice of the different breads for sale, and our toast came spread for us with jam and honey. Love the location - opposite a primary school and in a quieter part of town so heaps of parking (or in our case, walk across the street from the lovely cottage air BnB we were staying in). Also love the character of the building - a row of old shops with veranda frontages, and this bakery spread across a couple of them. Several copies of today’s newspaper were available, and we enjoyed relaxing in the natural light of our window table, drinking several coffees, reading the paper and enjoying toast and pastries at breakfast time.More

We called in for a light lunch after being recommended by a friend. The coffee and food was excellent with real European artisan baking choices. We bought the most excellent biscuits as we were leaving. We will definitely return as we need to take home...some of their awesome looking sourdough bread.More

Charming cafe run by an interesting, entrepreneurial family. I don't know what they do, but the food is guaranteed to make you feel amazing. The Vinbrux family makes food the way it should be: sustaining, nourishing and delicious. Well worth the extra charge for an...organic, wholesome food charge.More
