Try this runway for a pleasant surprise

We were overnighting at the Heartland hotel before flying home. Decided to eat at the Runway basically because it was booked out and the other choices were sparse. The food was of excellent quality, good sized portions, reasonably priced and very friendly staff - one of the best meals we had in NZ. It was a big surprise to us WELL DONE!

Decent dinner at an airport hotel restaurant

Staying one night before we fly to Australia and of course we need dinner. Lots of good choices on the menu and we both choose the salmon. Cooked perfectly and the side dishes went well with the salmon. A NZ Sauvignon Blanc paired well with the salmon. Dessert was shared and it was the banana bread. Good service as well.

Excellent Meal

We wanted a nice meal for our last night in NZ to end our 3 week holiday. We had been driving all day so decided to try in-house instead of going to Auckland CBD as planned. Wow all the meals were lovely and very tasty. Our party of 4 were all impressed which was a pleasant surprise for an airport hotel. Well done.

A good stopover meal

Just staying overnight at the Heartlands Hotel. All very convenient to have a restaurant on site as we are a little off site here. Good value yummy food.

Very Good Food

We had dinner here while staying at the Heartland Hotel where the restaurant is situated. The food was very good, ample size portions and reasonably priced. The staff were excellent, helpful and friendly.

Good Food and Service

This restaurant is about average for a quality motel to operate. Food was good and prices as expected. Service staff were pleasant. Only fault was that end of meal was a fizzer as cheese plate ordered hadn't arrived by 30 minutes and restaurant only had 8 guests. I had to be elsewhere and left. Management were very apologetic and matter was resolved amicably.

Only ate at this restaurant as it was part of the hotel we stayed at due to having our flights cancelled two days in a row. The food here is great and Reasonably priced, the staff are very efficient and attentive. Would highly recommend eating here.

Nice enough

Good food great service

We ate at this restaurant which is in the Heartland Hotel. The menu was not large but there were several choices that suited us. The service was outstanding. The food was good and we didn't have to wait long for our meals to arrive. There was also a large school group staying in the hotel and they were in the restaurant at the same time as we were, for dinner and breakfast and the restaurant coped very well with the large group. I can certainly recommend this as a good place to eat.

Better Than Most Hotel Restaurants

The Runway is the Heartland Hotel's in-house restaurant. The actual restaurant area is not a very flash room but the table settings were nicely done. My food was surprisingly tasty. The market fish was fresh hapuka and it was prepared nicely with a crayfish sauce. The gnocchi was not pillow light but t'was flavorful. I'd recommend room service if dinning alone or if traveling as a couple.
