This was our first visit to Paolo's and we sat outside due to the hot weather. Can't fault the food and service. The pizzas were delicious. However, after we had ordered our food a couple sat at the adjoining table with their huge dog. The tables were fairly close together anyway but the dog was much too big to fit under their table. It wouldn't settle and kept standing up and walking around. It's head was level with the top of our table. Our food arrived and it was very disconcerting to have a dog so close that it could easily have reached for the pizzas. Being so big, the dog was difficult for the owner to control. Fortunately an incident didn't occur but we were very unhappy that the restaurant staff allowed such a big dog at a table. We couldn't understand why the owners needed to bring their dog out with them for an evening meal and being such a huge animal, we felt it was unacceptable. My husband gave this feedback to staff and was told that Paolo likes dogs and the couple were regular customers but she understood our complaint. It spoilt our first experience of the place and whilst we would like to return, we would hope this wouldn't happen again.

Always delightful to find a venue that crafts a common experience in their own unique style. I especially loved the Black & White pizza and highly recommend this particular dish to pizza lovers who wish to enjoy a different pie 🥧 😋 It’s the first pizza I’ve ever had without cheese 🧀 ! Yes, no cheese, and it was amazingly different. However, I would respectfully offer the following feedback to the owner; The ordering app is a great idea, but I was unable to read a full description of the dishes. Fortunately, I also had a paper menu to assist with choosing our meals. I suspect, the ordering app informs every customer that their order will be ready in 20 minutes. This might be a little optimistic on busy evenings as we, and the customers nearby, waited 45 minutes from ordering to collection. I don’t mind waiting for good food, but a smarter app might be able to better predict wait times based on order numbers 👍 All in all, a refreshing dining experience that may not appeal to folks who enjoy production line food. I look forward to enjoying more delicious meals at this fantastic venue.

Started by waiting outside for 20 minutes to be seen, finally got a table, restaurant doesn’t cater for families very well at all, were told our in laws pram wouldn’t fit inside with a 4 month old baby, after grumpy waitresses with more sass than a 12 year old girl going through puberty we finally got our orders right, wish that was the end though, they got the orders wrong three times for our mains, then after the pizzas (which were not worth the wait) they came back and forward to the table five times about our dessert orders. Left to pay and was greeted by the spawn of Satan herself behind the counter scowling and furious to even be there and breathing by the looks of her, paid and got pretty much told to move on so they could scam the next waiting customers outside waiting. Never would recommend in my life time or anything even after that.

I would like to start this negative review stating that we are not the kind of people that enjoy complaining or expect something in return when we are not happy with the food or service. But you guys deserve half a star for the service and food we were delivered tonight. First of all, we were seated outside on a table that was quickly placed after the shop next door closed. This alone would not be too much of an issue, but it was sticky to the touch and didn't seem sanitised ( i have to hope they did wipe it the night before but it didn't quite feel like). Then the waitress with glasses comes to take the order, when i ask about what sort of veggies come on the antipasto platter she states that "she has no idea as she never looks at them". Ok. Then i ask what beer they have on tap, and she says she is not sure because she doesn't drink beer. REALLY??? We just had a great couple of days at Fraser so we were in a good mood, we were ready to let these particulars go but then the food comes out. The antipasto was the only decent thing (although 80% of ot was canned or jarred items chucked on a chopping board), my partner's seafood pizza was blend and the seafood rubbery and my rustica pizza ( with sausage and friarelli) was bland greasy to the point that was dripping oil and made me sick. I know you cannot get fresh friarelli in Australia, but at least strain them and don't make your customers drink half a jar of oil. After 1 and half slice i was done, my partner also couldn't eat any more and we seated and waited for the waitress to appear. Which she didn't. So i made my way to pay, she then recognized me and told me i could pay with her. Not a smile, not a question if we enjoyed our dinner, absolutely careless. She only asked if i wanted a tax invoice. I believe times are hard for everybody these days. My recommendation to the owner of this place is, make sure you have staff that looks after your customers and your business, by the look of other people we weren't the only unhappy ones. And since times are hard for us as well we would have spent those 100 bucks somewhere else. And my recommendation to potential customers is, give this place a miss. Maybe there are other places in Hervey Bay that don't pretend to be "authentic", or maybe they do but at least they deliver half a decent service. The one positive thing of the night was the very smiley spanish waitress thet i had to wave at to get some water (i really needed it after the slice of pizza). She was lovely and maybe our night would have not been so bad if you have more staff like her.

If you want small, tasteless doughy pizzas, this is your place. Put it this way, the kids couldn’t even eat their Hawaiian so I tasted it and could understand why! Our Campagnola wasn’t any better... maybe it was the half cooked pumpkin and base and the fact it lacked pretty much any flavour🤷🏼‍♂️. All in all, very disappointed that Santinis wasn’t open the long weekend as their pizza a few nights ago was great.

Goodness. I rarely review places but i was genuinely surprised by the number of good reviews here. Perhaps we just got a particularly bad night. After paying top dollar we ended up with 2 very small pasta dishes and 1 small pizza. I couldn’t believe it. The pasta did appear to be home made which is one thing. But the sauces were bland and tasteless. We ordered the ravioli which read beautifully but was let down. The gnocchi was a plain tomato but again let down. Then the pepperoni pizza - again apart from the pepperoni it was tasteless and the pizza was soft. No sign of a crisp base at all. Even my kids were not interested in the pasta which is their favourite dish. The actual venue looks nice and the lady who served me was very professional and friendly.

We had our hearts set in fish and chips but the local fish and chip shop said it was a 2 hour wait! So had to hunt down another option and stumbled across this gastromic gem. The marinara pizza was superb with the finest seafood. 2 local scallops still attached to the shell topped off this pizza magnificently. The capricciossa was equally delicious. All ingredients seemed home made and full of flavour. The food was equally complimented by wonderful, efficient, friendly and knowledgeable service. Well priced and a magic setting outside on a perfect night. 5 stars!

This place would have to be the worst so called pizza restaurant we have ever frequented. Fat black overcooked thick base rubbish with toppings served on shells ! And very sparse toppings to boot. The service is deplorable the meals grossly overpriced - go to Dominos and give this dive a big miss !

Amazing restaurant, we enjoyed a scrumptious evening! Strolling along the waterfront we were met outside the front within a few seconds...we had high standard speedy service from the get go. We were amazed, particularly being a booked out night! Our waitress Kylie went above and beyond to make a very memorable experience, suggesting 2 delishiously delightful mouthwatering pizza's. We indulged in a couple of cheeky cocktails, absolutely brilliant. The ambience, cuisine, and service was above and beyond. Will be recommending to mates and be back soon! Josh and Hannah

Great pasta really flavorful. Lovely Waiter. Remarkably rude manager. When the waiter made a simple mistake..(pizza instead of pasta) the manager insinuated it was our fault. Just very ordinary hospitality

The lady on the phone (we presume owner?) was terribly short worded and abrupt, borderline rude. Got the distinct feeling she didn't want to answer our questions about the pizza or make any changes at all to the pizzas on the menu. We somehow still managed to order a pizza with scallops but... that has to be the strangest pizza we've ever seen. There wasn't much seafood on it, and there were 4 big flat scallop shells in place where the toppings would normally be.

You know, I rarely write bad reviews. We visited here in April and had terrible service. We were given our entrees and forgotten about for our mains. We thought we'd try again. This time the service was awesome. Food came out on time and our waiter was friendly. However, after dinner (but before dessert) I got up to go to use the bathroom which was outside. I left my husband and kids at the table along with my phone. As I walked out the back, I saw a man following me which made me feel uneasy. I contacted my husband via my smart watch while in the bathroom. He came out and left our older kids sitting at the table. As soon as he stood up, the older female behind the bar (we think was the manager as she was bossing people around) followed him. He walked outside and waited for me and she asked him what he was doing. He told her that he was "waiting for his wife" and she proceeded to stand next to him, babysitting him to ensuring that he didn't "dine and dash". Our kids were still sitting at the table inside the restaurant! If "dine and dash" is such a common occurrence, why don't the fix it by enclosing the back area instead of treating their customers like criminals.

We had dinner at this lovely Italian restaurant while we were staying in Hervey Bay. Staff are very helpful and friendly. Great service! Pasta meals are made from local fresh produce and very delicious! Will definitely go back for a meal when we travel to Hervey Bay again.
