Being a Brit I’ve had a hard time finding some good fish and chips. These were really good - crispy batter and really tasty fish (blue cod). We took ours to the lookout point as there wasn’t much of an atmosphere at the place. Staff...not overly friendly but good food and not badly priced.More

We had driven up from Queenstown, were tired and were glad to find somewhere still open for dinner, with easy parking for our ute and trailer. They were busy which is always a good sign. We had takeaways - my husband chose seafood chowder and...said it was great though a little strange in a cardboard bowl. It came with several pieces of buttered toast which was an unexpected bonus. Our son and I chose fish and chips and went with the standard, which was elephant fish. We had never heard of elephant fish but were assured it was good. I found it a little dry, not the best fish I have had, but the chips were good. Would definitely go there again.More

Purchased the half cray meal asked if there was chips they said yes then showed up with none. Asked if there was sauce supplied they said no so I purchased some then it showed up with sauce for $57 it was pretty crap and the...girl serving was very rude I would not get this again. Only up side was it was dog friendlyMore

Skidded in just before closing time to order Standard Fish and chips. It was awesome... Our first time and we'll definitely be back. Maybe try a burger 👍

Disappointing. Was expecting great things but from the lacklustre service to the very average chowder, very disappointed. Very expensive for what it was.

Love coopers catch - best fish n chips in kaikoura. It’s an institution and for good reason. Friendly service and really crispy tasty chips. Excellent fish.

We chose to eat here as it was highly rated , if this is the case, then I feel sorry for KaiKoura. Our experience was pretty average. The lady who was serving at the time, was more interested in her phone, took her a while...to even acknowledge we were there. When asked if the meat patties was a proper "Meat pattie" and not one you get in Christchurch which is mixed with Potato, no one seemed to have a clue, clearly not made their. Over all the chips were average, no flavour under seasoned. However I will say the fish was really good! that was the only saving grace. We won't be in a hurry to go backMore

Love this place. We had a family pack of fish, chips, hot dogs and some potato scallops. Everything was lovely, especially the batter which was so light and crispy. Great service too.

I understand the only place with crayfish quota that sells to the public in a restaurant situation is the Pier Hotel, kaikoura - and that this is about to change hands so this may no longer be true.
