This is a small building with picnic tables under umbrellas outside. Prices are cheap, and the food is good and plentiful. It's not a place where you'd want to eat in inclement weather, or if you're looking for a comfortable sit-down meal, but it's very good at what it's good at.

My family had just driven up from Christchurch only to have our Whale watching tour cancelled. Looking at a sad return trip back, we stopped at this place near by with fish and chips on it. No frills when we first walked in. Lots of seating outside but it was raining, few tables inside. Large menu with reasonable prices (i.e.... More

The chips were the crispiest I've even encountered and the fish (we tried the blue cod) was so creamy and buttery in taste, wrapped in a really crispy shell. The tartar sauce was also brilliant. Simply the best meal of this kind I've had.

The fish they use here is fantastic, and the serving sizes are very generous! The oil used to cook the chips could be a tad fresher, but overall a great spot for fish and chips!

We were only in Kaikoura for two evenings - and we ate here on both of them - which is high praise indeed. Very good quality fish and chips. Perfectly cooked fish in an excellent batter and lovely chips. The burgers are also very good.

The title says it all. Our group of four holidaying in Kaikoura bought a takeaway order. The thick cut chips are very tasty. The seafood - lemon fish in decent portions and very small scallops - were let down by a thick batter that rapidly cloyed. While I have had worse, I have also had a lot better.
