Only in Kaikoura for 1 night and breakfasted at Simes Kitchen. Super friendly service. Delicious breakfast of granola with a variety of fruits. Tried Maple & Walnut tea which was a hit. My husband enjoyed a poached egg/toast breakfast with crispy bacon on the side. Rare to find anywhere that perfects crispy bacon to order!

Would absolutely recommend
We (me and 2 children) were made to feel incredibly welcome by both Julie & Nathan.
We ordered the most incredible banana bread and some absolutely delicious avocado on toast.
The oat milk latte and hot chocolates were all on point.
Service was very quick.
There is nothing I could fault

My husband and I popped in for a hot drink and a snack in the afternoon. I ordered the frittata which came with a portion of chutney that was housemaid. It was delicious and beautifully, garnished. the house brewed chai I ordered came in a hand held pottery nice and hot and again was delicious. My husband ordered a flat white along with a savory scone which was cheese and onion. He said it was delicious as well. The feeling of both the place and the people was warm and welcoming. In addition they have several gluten-free items.
We plan on going there for lunch tomorrow then back on the train after our first time in Kaikoura (weekend visit) from Christchurch,

When we wanted to order, we were told waiting time 40min, ask to order cabinet food by the gentlemen at the counter.
Later when other customer come in he said take a sit we will take your order. We are local and we go quite often too.. He make it to suit himself and he claim they are short of staff

5 of us came for lunch, we had 2H of us had the Thai special of the day, Japanese, and Korean meals, all declared their meals 10/10.
We shared a bottle of Prosecco, the service was extremely efficient.
This will become our new favourite in Kaikoura.

! I ordered from the cabinet deliberately because a friend had waited 45 mins for menu food. I still had to wait an exceptionally long time. People who ordered a similar thing after me, received their food first. When I asked about it, the waitress was very rude. Disappointing as I’d heard great things.

We expected a standard Kiwi breakfast consisting of eggs benedict and mushrooms on toast, but we're delighted with the results.
It's more than obvious that the chef has had some culinary training as the food was brilliant.
Will definitely recommend and return.

Delicious menu made with locally sourced ingredients. We had a meat and vegan dish, both were delicious. There were several vegan and/or vegan options available on the menu which was great! We took cakes to go and, again, they had several vegan options & our mint cake was to die for…we went back for another!

After being recommended breakfast at Sime Kitchen, I am so glad I tried them out. Started with the wonderful warm welcome from the lovely staff, and the immaculately clean , well maintained indoor and outdoor seating. Table service was fantastic, so far all the boxes were getting ticked. I order a Jasmine tea, and the recommended breakfast Ham Hock Benedict - words come to mind of, decadent, moorish, filling, amazing bang for your buck, a wonderfully rich yet balanced meal that will definitely have me going back again to try their other wonderful meals on their menu. To Sime Kitchen, your staff and your food đź’Ż fantastic and I can't wait to return, thank you for the experience.

Stopped here after 2pm; hungry & fearing we'd left it too late to get a proper meal. So happy to find that the kitchen was still open and offered gf, df & vegan food, Had a delicious meal, and some scrumptious fries - washed down with some excellent coffee. On top of all of that, the place is attractive, clean and airy; and the staff were efficient and welcoming.

On entering we were greeted by a delightful front of house hostess .
We chose eggs on sourdough with extra sides.It automatically comes with a delicious house made chutney.
Great service.Will be back .

Popped in for a coffee and cake today (Sunday) and its obviously a popular spot as lots of people eating lunch. There was a nice selection of cakes, biscuits and savoury items. Great organic coffee too which you can enjoy inside or on the verandah.

Visited for breakfast, got in early which was good as it got busy. Tried eggs Benedict with Esses champagne, it was different however a little too sweet for me. The venue was comfortable and quirky, great service and good coffee.

Friendly and engaging staff. The flavor combinations were great and the menu catered for all tastes.
Great to see a new business bring a fresh approach and carry on the standards of the previous iconic restaurant.
