SlamClub is centrally located in the stunningly famous coastal town of Kaikoura on the east coast of the South Island of New Zealand. We are a family owned and operated artisan sandwich and salad cafe/bar with a uniquely styled, recycled and friendly vibe. Come in for some locally sourced, lovingly created and seriously good food.

The food offered at Slam Club is unique and delicious. As a local I eat here every week. The talented chef uses a lot of locally sourced veges and wild meats to make wholesome tasty dishes. You can have veggie or meat dishes made into amazing salads or 'sandwiches' which will be the best sandwich of your life! The chef is very talented and the food is made with love. There is no run of the mill tourist rip off crap food here and the drinks sold are mostly local fare or homemade. Come in for genuinely wholesome, ethical, delicious local food and beverages at very reasonable prices. They also serves locally made craft beers. Come in and support local. Slam Club is at the far end of West End near the railway bridge.

We popped in for lunch around 1 pm. The place was full. We went in because as we were parking outside I overhead someone leaving saying to their friend the food was delicious. And it was.
We both had salads. Mine was with pulled pork and my husband had the beef on his. The salad was super fresh and varied with lovely texture, colour and flavour.
We could see others having various sandwiches and they were all chocka with fresh fillings and clearly being much enjoyed.
The coffee was excellent. The service was good and friendly.
We are in level 2 lockdown and they were observing all the rules.

We had amazing gourmet toasted sandwiches and salad, absolutely delicious. They made kids sized ham & cheese (even though not on the menu) and the kiddies loved them!!. Big portions, great service and topped off with a take-away tea of generous size made with loose leaves. Absolutely top notch, thank you very much!!!

We shared the meat platter, came with coleslaw, toasted potatoes, and toasted ciabatta. Heaps of food, we ordered extra duck fat potatoes, could not eat it all.
Local beer and wine were perfect as well. Great friendly staff,

I do not even know where to start. These sandwiches were absolutely mindblowing. We got the slow cooked wild goat with caramelized onion and then a shredded hoisin duck with pickled slaw.
I started off eating the goat and was blown away by how delicious it was, so full of flavour all balanced perfectly and beautifully crispy ciabatta bread.
I didnt think it could get any better and then I tasted the duck... my other sock got blown off with this one. Again, perfectly balanced between sweet hoisin duck and the crispy slaw. The bread again was crispy but not so much that you couldn't chew it.
I suggest coming in pairs and share so you can try each one, or just come multiple times... either way work through the menu because you wont be disappointed.
The staff were also very friendly and they had delicious coffee too! Win win.

The Slam club was recommended by my son. Didnt think I was hungry on arrival and when the pulled pork sandwich arrived decided I was only going to eat half but soon changed my mind. It was outstanding and highly recommend

Stopped here for a lovely lunch after our whale watching trip and were greeted by the lovely friendly host.
We were so impressed with this delightful quirky restaurant we booked for dinner and again food was absolutely wonderful as is the atmosphere in the restaurant. Host and staff excellent and the service is absolutely first class. If we were lucky enough to live here this would definitely be a regular.

I had the El Gringo and it was one of the best sandwiches I’ve ever had! Soft bread, nice melted cheese, tender pulled pork and delicious sauce. Despite the unexpected coriander (**pro tip - ask for without if you don’t like it!**) I can still maintain it was one of the best! A big call. Defs worth a stop! Thanks guys

I had the most delicious El Gringo sandwich which I would actually say is one of the best sandwiches I’ve ever had. It also came with a few roasted potatoes that were so good, I just wish there were more. The decor was cute and welcoming and the staff were friendly. Definitely a great lunch spot!

I’d picked this out before visiting Kaikoura. It’s a great place turning out sensational food. The atmosphere is relaxed and friendly.
We ate on our first night. Meat platter for me and the halloumi for the missus. Called in for a coffee day 2 and returned for burgers on our last night. No hesitation in recommending any of the meals.
Succulent and full of flavour.
The owner chef and his 2 colleagues are a great team and deserve all the praise they receive.

Wasn't expecting such an amazing dinner! The partner and I were toddling around Kaikoura hungry, not knowing what we wanted. We were back and forth. SlamClub was empty. We don't like people, so I said this is where we are going. We were of course nervous, thinking if it is empty maybe it's shi*. It was definitely not. This was our favourite dinner in Kaikoura hands down. Meat platter for him, Tuna steak for her. Perfection.

We stumbled across the bar on a walk down the front, the restaurant was busy but the squeezed us in. The food was unbelievable, it’s only a small menu but still hard to choose just one dish!! We had the meat platter for 2 and it did not disappoint!! Would definitely recommend, and possibly the friendliest staff we have ever come across, worth a visit if you’re in town!

Food stunning, service incredible. Places like this just make you happy. We shared the meat platter and had an apple strudel for dessert each. Just great food, done really well. We walked in on a Sunday evening and it was fairly quiet, hard to see why on this performance. Cannot recommend enough.

I had the smoked ribs, and they were made by some sort of genius. Everything was perfect - the ribs, the sauce, the potatoes and the coleslaw. This by far the best thing I’ve had in Kaikoura and possible the entire island. I am a very picky eater, but this was just excellent.
