Took a little bit of time to be acknowledged but I could see there was only one waitress working. Ordered a butter naan and a hot Dahl Makhani, the food came out fairly quickly and was hot and fresh. The bread was good but the curry was lacking flavour; just a bit bland in general and definitely wasn’t hot, maybe a medium but only just
Didn’t like that the glasses were turned upside down on the table as that’s what’s going to your mouth, not very hygienic! Was going to order a wine whilst I was eating, I waited for her to come by to ask how my dinner was but there was no service check at all. Also note that the menu on their window is an old one - the prices have all gone up on the menu’s inside the restaurant

The interior of Priya Indian Restaurant was surprisingly large and adorned with interesting ethnic decoration. Service was efficient throughout. The poppadoms were rather disappointing as they broke too easily. However our curries (Jalfrezi and Kadai) were really good and full of flavour and spice. They reminded us of the curries we have back in the UK which in itself is recommendation enough for why you should eat here.

This place was unfortunately deserted when we visited on a Sunday afternoon, but it shouldn’t have been. The food was really lovely and the guy who was working there was very friendly. We had the vegetarian share plate to start and the $15 lunch offer of curry, rice, naan and a drink. My wife had the veg korma and I had chicken tikka masala. The sauces were both really tasty and everything was very well cooked. I highly recommend this place and it is a real shame it was so empty!!

We needed a good Indian meal to boost our immune systems and when I requested “medium as though I was travelling in India, not NZ” the chef was spot on – enough heat to smack my head cold, but not enough to lose the flavours. This was had as a takeaway, because we ate early (after a day of travel) and wanted the comfort of our hotel room – no one wants a cough in a restaurant! They also had a lovely range of vegetarian dishes, which suited us perfectly. We even had enough for leftovers the next day, which was great! Really enjoyed this meal.

Excellent spot for authentic and delicious Indian food. The decor may be a bit sad, but we had a fantastic lunch there last week. The service is quick and efficient and the food is fresh and tasty. If you don’t want a sandwich or deep fried food, this is probably the best spot for a cooked meal in Hoki.
Whether it’s a quick stop on your coastal journey or a planned visit, the consistently gratifying meals make it a go-to spot for me.

Our large party dined here on New Years Eve. We had great service, we chose a wide range of curries from Malabar Prawn to Butter Chicken and Lamb Korma. All curries were delicious and different. Highly recommend for a food option in Hokitika

I went to Priya Indian Restaurant in Hokitika with my sister for dinner earlier this evening.I'm so pleased we did.The onion baghees were lovely as was the chicken biryani I had.A great sized plate too! The yoghurt gave the biryani a nice soothing flavour.
The staff member who served us Maia was really lovely, and made us feel welcome.The restaurant was really clean and immaculately tidy, and the coloured decorative lights gave the restaurant a really warm cosy dining atmosphere.I highly recommend this establishment for fine quality Indian dining in Hokitika.

Would friends who reside in Hokitika suggested we head here for dinner and what an awesome decision it was.
We eat Indian frequently as we enjoy it however after dining at Priya in Hokitika, feel we will find ourselves disappointed with our Papamoa local restaurants.
The flavors were out of this world .... next time we are in Hokitika will definitely be back.

One of THE best Indian meals Ive and and we have had many. The staff were friendly and the meal just amazing. We sadly couldnt eat all of it as there was so much, but what we did was excellent. There were many people getting takeaways but Id recommend eating in as it is nicely decorated and warm. Totally recommend

Walked in and service was pretty poor. Wine glasses and water glasses were dirty. Queried why the prices advertised outside were different than than menus (Garlic Naan was 33% higher), rudely advised that the prices outside were Takeaway prices (no dine in prices advertised). Didn’t end up staying to try the food based on the service and misleading dine in customers.

It was my first time to travel to Hokitika and I wanted to find a special restaurant. I found this Indian restaurant and ordered chicken and mushroom masala, as well as cumin rice and butter Naan. Every dish was delicious😌 Delicious and authentic 👍🏻

Around Christmas is a busy time in Hokitika and with other restaurants in town closed this place was very busy.
If in Hokitika around Christmas/ New Year service may be slow due to the number of customers but they let you know waiting times which is good service.
Maddie is sensational. She rushes around trying to keep service moving, always
smiling and not being flustered and keeping everything under control. Great service!
The food was very good. The Haryali chicken starter was superb and the Lamb Handi excellent.

We dined as this restaurant on the 19th January on a stopover in Hokitika. This was recommended to us by the host of our motel, it certainly didn't disappoint!
The food was great and the service equally as good - the young woman who served us was working alone and doing everything, hats off to her for all her hard work.
Highly recommended if you love Indian food!

I dined here with my daughter and 3 teenaged grandchildren this week. The kids are gluten intolerant and the staff went out of their way to change the kids menu so we could all enjoy our food. The curries were delicious and servings generous. Thank you for making our holiday meal so pleasant.

There were only three restaurants open on a Tuesday night in Hokitika, and luckily for us this was one of them.
The menu had all our favourites - the onion bhajees and butter chicken were delicious. The naan bread was crispy on the edges, and soft and chewy on the inside, yummy!
The lamb saag was a hit with my youngest son, and the kadai chicken had a good level of spice.
The waitress was friendly and the food came quickly, we would definitely fine here again.
