Delicious Pizza after a 45 min wait

This place has delicious pizza and very nice outside seating area. It is on the beach street. Service is very friendly. I took away one star because we were told he pizza will take 45 min to be ready (and it did) and I thought it was a bit overpriced.

Food ok but lacks atmosphere

This pizza place was recommended and it was very busy when we visited on a Friday night. The food was fine - pizza & pasta at sensible prices - but the place lacked atmosphere despite being very busy. We wondered if they were short staffed that evening as the staff seemed very busy and a bit harassed, not particularly friendly or welcoming. Perhaps we just caught them on a bad day.

weekend away

stayed in hokitika for the long weekend and ordered a pips pizza now we waited 1 hour for this pizza which was a medium whitebait and a medium hawaiian. now im not the most patient person but i can say its the best pizza we have eaten in awhile .we had several dishes of whitebait this weekend and this was the only one that had heaps of whitebait on it and wasn't buried in cheese or egg was worth the wait it was excellent cheers pip pizza

I ordered 2 large pizzas for myself and two friends. They were good in flavour. I was pretty gutted when I opened my box to find a tiny amount of pepperoni... the slices were cut in half and for $70 bucks I felt ripped off. But the taste was okay and I ate it. Just be aware it’s pricey considering pizza Hutt and dominos you can get pepperoni pizzas for $5 ..

Not so pronto!

Waited an hour for our pizzas which seemed excessive even though busy. We were warned prior to ordering which was fair. Service was ok but nothing special and our table had the remnants of the previous diner’s beer bottles on for the duration. Ordered the large pizzas which were MASSIVE and good value for money considering they were loaded with toppings. My partner was disappointed that the chicken was tiny cubes of seemingly poor quality meat but nevertheless said the taste was good. I had the amigo veggie pizza which was tasty. Like that they discourage waste by giving you a paper bag to package leftovers but charge for pizza boxes! All in all, if you particularly want a pizza, order early and expect a good feed when it finally arrives. .

Worth a visit as delicious pizzas

Went here on a recommendation and we weren't disappointed. Well priced and plenty of choice. If you can't eat it all they provide bags or boxes for you to take it home. Seating inside or under a canopy through the restaurant. Very good.

Brill place to spend an evening

Had a really nice evening here whilst staying in Hokitika. Pizzas were excellent and it is a nice touch, you can have a box to take home anything you can't finish. Also, really nice and relaxed atmosphere combined with friendly and efficient service. Definitely worth a visit.

Lucky to have a table on a very busy Saturday night

Before we decided to dine here, we did some research about the place. On our way to the Hokitika beach we walked pass the place to check it out. It was just after 5:00-ish and there were not many dinners inside. That could be a potential wrong choice. Anyway, just after finishing our beach stroll we went back to the restaurant just before 6:00. There were already quite a few groups of people queueing up and as it turned out we probably took the last table available. As one can imagine with a virtually full house, we all had to wait for the pizza to be served. As it happened, there was a couple who was local residents, sitting next to our table. The man was actually borned in Hokitika! They told us they regularly have their dinner here and some nights were even busier than what I thought was "long queue". On closer observation, it looked like most dinners were tourists who had done their home work before they came. We had large size (to me it seems larger than most other large pizza) Aloha and Americano. You can also order pizza with two different halves. The pizza were amazingly tasteful with balanced saltiness and sweetness ( from pineapple) to accompany the very fresh and favour-rich base. It reminded us of some fantastic pizza we had when in Italy. Given a chance, we will definitely be back.

Really enjoyed the pizza here. We had two and they were exceptional. Cool layout for a restaurant. I did overhear one of the males workers getting angry at staff and unhappy about the dishes he had to do. I’m sure someone would have reminded him to be more professional when customers can hear and see you.

Excellent value, great pizza

If you go expecting no frills service , ie help yourself, order at the counter and with the expectation some things may not be available (eg Whitepait pizza, Cassells lager) then you won't be disappointed. The pizza's here are great, you would be hard pressed to find better. A treat for Hokitika.

Best Pizza in town

We were taken to the "Fat Pipi" last year by a friend. We couldn't wait to go back again on our last trip. The restaurant is spacious with seating outside for the summer where you can hear the waves on the beach. The pizza's have plenty of filling and are delicious. There is also a good choice of fillings and you can order 1/2 & 1/2 filling on a large Pizza. Which is what we had. Plenty for 2 adults. It is not BYO

Hokitika’s Favorite Pizza!

We eat pizza from Fat Pipi’s ~ once a week. The outdoor tables out back are our favorite, if the weather permits, but we occasionally order “take away” and take it out to the beach to watch sunset. Their menu is varied and we have several options that we enjoy.

Seriously good food in Hokitika

If you happen to be in Hokitika and looking for a good feed at a really good price then look no further. We got two medium sized pizzas for the four of us and it did the job. It’s seriously good pizza on the beach, right by the famous Hokitika beach sign

Great food, great atmosphere and amazing staff.

In town for the wild foods festival, went on a Friday night, even though they were clearly very busy, a lot of smiles, great atmosphere. Didn’t mind waiting a little bit longer for food, and when it arrived it was delicious and big pizzas. Great job, would recommend.

Relaxed and easy going

We ate here 2 out of the 3 nights we were in Hokitika! Ok it’s true to say many of the other local restaurants were closed but that’s not to detract from how much we enjoyed Fat Pipi’s. We opted for pasta both nights and it was really, really tasty, well presented and plenty of it too. Super friendly staff and we loved the vibes on the playlists. Relaxed, casual and easy going.
