We were looking for a nice restaurant on the last night of our holiday. Tonic had good reviews so we ventured out. Everything was spot on. Lovely food, awesome presentation and on top of that excellent service and ambience. The Guava yoghurt mousse with passionfruit...puree and pineapple and basil sorbet was sublime.More

I had heard a lot about Tonic and how great the food was so I was quite excited about finally having the chance to try it for myself. Right from when we first arrived we were welcomed by such friendly and inviting staff who were...always so attentive. The food was extraordinary and it was such a welcomed take on Asian-fusion. We ate the prawn croquettes and tuna tartare for entrée, followed by lamb rack for main. All of the food was beautifully prepared and cooked to perfection. I had the chance to meet the owner and chef, Logan, who was incredibly friendly and so welcoming. He and the team are so passionate and it really shows through their delicious food and exceptional service. For anyone in search of a great restaurant with amazing food, make your next stop Tonic. I believe it’s the finest food Whangarei has to offer.More

Absolutely delicious meal, both adults loved the braised pork belly. The 10 year old really enjoyed the vegetarian options, particularly the caramelised onion and goats cheese tart. Delicious sides to share and the beautifully presented desserts tasted as good as they looked, the flavours popped....Great service, lovely wines and a pleasant ambience. Going back next week.More

The meal l had was lamb, it was ok, but l would suggest the chef try it, because there wasn’t a lot of flavour, my friends meal was the fish, potato stack was cold, very small portion, she also said it was okay, the service...was good and setting very nice, this meal could have been so much better with a little more attention, when you are paying 38 dollars, the meat should melt in your mouth and very tasty,More

So nice to go to a local restaurant in Whangarei and find everything to our satisfaction. Food , wine, music and service. The Hapuka was perfectly cooked, generous, with a delightful blend of flavours. Lamb was excellent. Everything was superb. To Chef, kitchen and staff,...thank you for a job very well done .More

We booked for the Sunday night set menu. We went for the 3 course menu. Loved the choices and the food was beautiful. Each course size was just perfect for us and we left satiated but not overfull. We also matched the meal with lovely...wines.More

Lovely clean tidy dining, great attentive service, fantastic entrees, but woefully small mains portion wise left you feeling famished. Such a disappointment as everythig did set up for a great night out, with the entrees a fantastic tempter, but the mains a let down in...size and presentation.More
