Our order was taken promptly. The entrees arrived soon after. The Chilli Con Queso (cheese and crackers) was both bland and megre and really just melted cheese and dry chips. The Jalapenos were deep fried, so were really hot in mouth and tasteless - hot...from being in the deep fried plus hardly any dipping sauce. What a real letdown. Nothing like the menu made them sound. Main. The tacos were bland apart from a small amount of pickled onions. No Mexican flavour, and the small amount of beans to the side were cold and tasteless. The beef was also cold. Well the Quesadillas were the worst ever. Just flattened wraps, that had been burnt in the press. There was hardly any filling and again tasteless and the megre amount of sauce to the side was pathetic. Mexican .... not even like it should have been. Maybe they should stick to Pizzas as certainly is not doing justice to Mexican. Will never go there again nor will we recommend. The decor was ok, but having young children play hide and seek around our tables topped off a total waste of money. BTW - if in Brisbane visit Pepes in Toowong or Jindalee - been there 35+ years and busy always.More

I was visiting Whangarei with my daughter and was recommended this restaurant by our Airbnb Host as it was close to our accommodation. My 4 year old was greeting and made to feel welcome by our server with a Frozen Colouring book and crayons. Winning...already! I ordered a Snack size pizza and the beer battered fries and a pizza for my daughter. My pizza sadly arrived cooked base but with very cold toppings, so didn't feel like I could eat if not heated through properly. Our server apologized and took it back to the kitchen and returned to say they were making a fresh pizza for me. Either the manager or supervisor returned with my new pizza and also apologized saying they were having issues with one of their ovens and said my pizza cost would be wiped from our bill. The atmosphere was lovely and the décor was tastefully done. Happy and very attentive servers. We would visit again and maybe try something from their vast Mexican meals from their menu.More

Had a less than pleasant experience with the takeaway service this evening. After trying for over 20 mintues to get through when the phone was finally answered the person continued to talk to other people whilst on the phone to me. Once he finally acknowledged...I was there he simply said "Red what's your order" not a very professional way to speak to a customer, especially one wanting to place an order. I ordered two pizza's one with changes as a member of my family has an allergy to pork so I needed the bacon removed which I clearly started not once but twice and was acknowledged by this member of staff on both occasions. I then asked about the quantity of a product to which he replied "maybe two or three" - shouldn't staff be familiar with the products available within the takeaway menu, it isn't the full restuarant menu so all staff should be able to confidently answer these types of questions. Once I had finished placing my order he read back a very abbreviated version and I once again reiterated the change in menu for no bacon and was again told that was fine. On returning home from picking up the order I opened the first pizza box to discover that my request had been ignored and there was in fact bacon on the pizza meaning my family could not all sit down together and enjoy our meal. The quality of the other items ordered were also less than desirable and was definitely not worth the price we were charged. I would not recommend this establishment if you are looking for a great takeaway option. Extremely disappointing especially with the allergy issue.More

I was so looking forward to this meal. Firstly, Guacamole.... is not made from fresh avocados, this was a massive disappointment. It’s was watery and tasteless, it didn’t even taste like guacamole. The enchiladas were pretty average but I have to say, the empanadas were...great and our service was excellent. Would go back for their pizza, but definitely not Mexican.More

This restaurant changed to a Mexican theme so we were keen to try. Sadly there has been a steep decline in service here. The decor looks nice as does the menu. The server gave us the menu then told us to go and order at...the counter. If we wanted drinks we had to go up and order again at the counter. Meanwhile the servers stand around talking to each other. The food was reasonable typical for “ Mexican”. Enchiladas burritos and fajitas , but pricy for serving size. If we wanted to order dessert we would have had to traipse up to the counter again to order but by that stage we’d had enough of that. We wouldn’t go back to this restaurant, the lack of service for an eatery of this quality saw to that.More

Was keen to try the new Mexican, the place is nice enough but we wont go back. Lots of staff standing around but not attentive. Food tasteless, expensive and very small portions. I got 2 tiny tortillas with mine and when I asked for more...another 2 were brought and I was charged extra! $120 for 3 people and we left hungry, I would have complained then but we were taking a friend out for dinner.More

The staff were doing their best on a busy night. Unfortunately the management were more of a hinderance than a help. They need to loosen their grip on the apron strings and stop talking to the staff while they are working. Consequently the staff ignore...the customer because the boss is the boss. Hello without customers you won’t be a boss for a lot longer. The pizza was great. Even the one we sent back looked great it just wasn’t what we ordered.More

We made a family outing to try the new Mexican restaurant. From the moment we arrived it was nothing but disappointment, * Firstly there was no table service, we had to go to the bar every time we wanted a drink or to order our...food. What was weird was there were 7 staff members standing at the bar and not one of them were able to serve us at our table. We were one of three tables inside so not like they were busy. All the staff just stand there chatting and looking at us, very uncomfortable. *they couldn't even give us a menu, we had to go ask. *no tab was allowed so we had to pay every time we went to make a drink or food order. * the food was a big disappointment, we were expecting flavour and there was none. My quesadilla was well over cooked, half of it had chicken and the other half was cheese only. I would expect lime, chillie and coriander throughout the meals as a standard base but it was all boring and bland. Our daughter ordered the nachos and the mince was rock hard. We also ordered the tacos everything was cold...Absolutely cold! *we ordered a bottle of wine (at the bar) and it was given to us with the lid on it, they didnt even open it. I'm sure this is illegal..... * no table service but they had a waitress walk around our table about a 100 times, very awkward and there was no purpose to it. Why she couldn't take our order I still don't understand. *after our entree we had to ask for new knife and forks, but were told to go to the bar and ask. I ended up taking off another table. *we also were made to sit in front of the door on a cold night when there were so many tables available. I will never go back. And would recommend others to avoid.More

Firstly we were seated right by the main door on a cold night while there were many available tables and the music was so loud I couldn’t hear the people around me. After being thankfully moved we ordered Four drinks two being cocktails form the...bar and they expect you to carry them to your table yourself if you are outside there is a closed door you have to navigate resulting in multiple trips while the wait staff just stand around and yarn. Also the man on the till was incompetent making us pay as we went for he couldn’t identify our table. We waited almost 30 mins for the below average wait staff to stop gossiping to take our order and just as long again before our platter came out. The food was amazing but The quantity was not worth $45. After another go around with the incompetent man at the bar our main arrived. Two of us got enchiladas, the stand out of the night if you could get them takeaway so not to deal with the staff if highly recommend them. The other two mains were quesadillas which were limp and fillingless I’ve seen better quesadillas made by a 3 year old in a playdoh kitchen. Only due to the enchiladas we will go again maybe in a year if they last that long to give them time to sort their service out. Until then don’t waste your time.More

No idea why the Manager turned this into a Mexican themed restaurant. Loved it as Red Pizzeria where it had excellent reviews and I gave them an excellent review. Went there on a Friday night, slow service, mediocre food and a defensive Manager. Had to...queue up to place our food order, may as well have gone to KFC as no table service. When food finally arrived the the appetizer came with main meal .More
