Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Today ... my wife had an early appointment in town so we skipped breakfast and were ready for a quick, uncomplicated and unchallenging brunch. We picked Kahvi because we'd eaten there before, but not for a couple of years. WOW! My wife went for poached...eggs with their signature toasted sour dough. Because I felt a bit cool after the downpour we experienced after the appointment, I asked what the soup of the day was. I'm not a big soup fan, but the sound of cream of mushroom and chicken sounded good, so I took the plunge. Firstly, Anne's eggs were perfectly poached. Not always the case, but perfect here. My soup was also served with their signature toast. And what a fantastically yummy soup it was. Whoever came up with the recipe is a genius. I just wish I could have finished it but it exceeded my appetite as well as expectations. The service was welcoming, friendly and prompt. I recommend it ... and the soup.More

We visited twice. The cabinet food was tasty and reasonably priced. The selection was good and there was also an all-day brunch menu available.

Loved the poached eggs I had here. The Kronut tasted old and the coffee order wasn't correct but was quickly rectified. Would def come back here.

We stopped into Kahvi for the first time Easter weekend as the place we planned to go to was closed. Ordered coffees and a breakfast item to share, coffee shop was not busy with around five tables occupied. The coffee was un-drinkable it was so...bitter didn’t even taste like coffee. Even though they weren’t busy they told us there would be a 15-20 minute wait on food. However it was a 40 minute wait. They then turned people away saying they had closed their menu for one hour as they were to busy??? Probably the worst service and cafe I have been to in a long time.More

I couldn’t fault Kahvi on anything, staff were so friendly and obliging. The food and coffee were just great. Well worth a visit when after a coffee in Whangarei!

I may have unusual tastes but the spicy chai latte was really good. My partner enjoyed her mocha also. As a shared snack the spinach and feta filo was delicious. Sign says new operator and I’ll be back to try it again.

Went to Kahvi today for lunch and was very impressed - value for money, beautifully presented food and cafe was nicely decorated. Also had very subtle tasteful music playing quietly in the background

Just had brunch here, and it was really, really good! We had the eggs benedict with bacon and the french toast - both beautifully presented with garnishes and flowers. The eggs benedict was served on a rosti, which gave it a different flavour and they...had crispy kale on the plate too. The french toast was a work of art, dipped in cinnamon sugar and surrounded by strawberries, pears, grapes and flowers - along with a caramelised banana. Coffee was medium, not the best we've had, but was fine with the breakfast. Service was really friendly and lovely, and we liked how they came out and apologised to the table next to us for the delay in getting their food out. We were impressed, would not hesitate to recommend, and we'll be back again!More

It's a small café; there are outside tables for when the weather is good; and the food and service were great. We had lunch; it came quickly and was really very tasty. It's not too far from the Event cinema and the central shopping area;...so a good place to stop and eatMore

On our way into town the worms started biting so we decided to try a cafe we'd never ventured into before. The staff were cheerful and friendly, and once again were very accommodating on my request of a half portion of eggs benedict with salmon....My half strength hot chocolate was perfect and piping hot. After that it was all down hill. They got my order wrong and it came out with bacon not salmon, they were very apologetic and fix it. Both our meals were presented well, however they seriously lacked flavour. Sorry Kahvi but we won't be back and will not be recommending your cafe to others.More
