Lovely little restaurant in Quality Street Whangarei. The food is fantastic and at a great price. This is my favourite place to eat in Whangarei and the staff are always friendly and attentive. Love the spaghetti meatballs!

We (two female friends) went to Amici for coffee only however we wished we went for a meal.
Unfortunately we ate at the restaurant/cafe opposite and were very disappointed so decided to step across to Amici. The coffee was great and the young lady that served us was just lovely and seemed genuinely interested in how our coffee was. One of the best things about this restaurant was the seats, after sitting on plastic seats across the road, the chairs at Amici were just so comfortable.
So in summary, great coffee, amazing chairs and great service and we look forward to having lunch next time we are in Whangarei.

This was our first experience of this place and we were pleasantly surprised how it turned out. There is inside and outside dining and the location is very atmospheric being an avenue into the Strand with many other eateries nearby. The evening was very pleasant so we ate outside which added to the ambience. The food was very good, well presented and tasty and the service was friendly and quick. Thoroughly nice place and would recommend giving it a chance.

For starters the waitress was useless, she had no idea what the pizza range was even called, very dizzy, didn't know the specials.
After waiting 45 mins the food arrived, half cooked chicken and hard potatoes.
Combine that with uncomfortable wobbly chairs, the smell of cigarette smoke and there you have it. The worst place to eat in Whangarei.

This is just disgusting. We ordered food for lunch and it took such a long time to come, people got the same food before us even though we had ordered first.
When it did come the chicken was brown and didn't taste cooked and the egg in the salad was defiantly under cooked and made me sick.
So GROSSSSSS, Don't go here!!!!
also the waiter was useless couldn't set a table properly or even pronounce food on their own menu massive lack of training.

We got an explanation of how busy they were to start with, followed by a whole number of dishes not being available.
The menu was definitely not Italian. Apart from some pasta dishes & pizza you seem to get at many places.
I ordered a lamb dish, asking for medium rare more on the rare side - it was completely cooked through, dry, tough & tasteless. No juise with the dish either, only some very basic roast potatoes & I had a mushroom sauce. My friend ordered the same dish as per menu - her minty pea mash was a tiny smidge on the plate. So essentially we had tough lamb with dry roasted potatoes. Not good, even for the average price charged.
Our shared salad was nice though - greens with walnuts & blue cheese.
The service was lacking. A couple of untrained waiters rather hectically tried to get things done & promptly forgot our cutlery & my drink.
After finishing the lamb dish we disappeared quickly after payment ... We didn't want to be surprised by a substandard dessert ...

My husband ordered takeaway tonight - 2x carbonara and 1x small Quattro pizza. The pasta was terrible, so much cheese on top and smelled very bad, the pasta itself tasted like oil, couldn’t taste anything else. The pizza was soggy and all toppings on one side. I’m not one to complain this was particularly bad. As a previous pasta and pizza chef I know this was far below standard for paying $70+ for our dinner 😔

expensive and had to get a bite to eat after as the portions are way too small for the prices. We paid $150 per couple for 1 main & 1 glass of wine each both left hungry..
Roast spatchcock we received 1/4 of a small bird. not enough for a small child let alone an adult.

Had the driest and most tasteless, yet also most expensive arancini I've ever had, which were only kind of edible because they were swimming in tomato sauce and covered with parmesan. There was supposed to be baby spinach, but didn't find it anywhere. The pizza wouldn't even have been acceptable to me if I had bought it from a supermarket freezer and baked it myself. It's been hours now, and it's still sitting heavy on my stomach and I feel physically unwell because of it. The only thing "Italian" about it was the price, as it was complety overpriced for what it was (although I would've happily paid it for a proper meal).

Their pasta is on point - exactly what I was expecting. Nice staff, cute setting, and quick service, appropriate wine-list, and delicious food. Both classics (carbonara and lasagna) were perfectly executed and portioned well. It is a little pricy though.

Ordered a Quattro staggioni pizza - the ingredients were basically split across the pizza - artichoke on a slice, mushroom on a couple of slices, meat on another. The bolognese was spaghetti pasta with tomato paste and a small amount of mince, covered in cheddar cheese not Parmesan. Do yourself a favour and make eggs on toast instead of ordering from this place. Older reviews would indicate this place must have recently changed hands.

I enjoyed a lovely lunch here outside in the sun. The seating is very calm and peaceful, especially by the water fountain.
Portions were the perfect size to eat both lunch and desert without over eating. The food here was amazing and definitely recommend. I loved the banana split because of the creamy gelato and crunch given by the nuts, 10/10.
Service here was amazing with friendly staff who were very patient and coming back during the meal to see if everything was good.

Nothing bad about our experience here as a party of six. But there were small thing around the service, lack of attention by the waitress and some limitations on the menu. The food was alright without standing out. A rating of 3.5 would be about right.

Hadn't been here before but thought we'd try it as it was a nice day for sitting outside in the courtyard area. The fountain, chequered tablecloths and relaxed, people-watching atmosphere make it a bit different from other places. We shared a large pizza and fries and it was a perfect lunch-sized meal for us. The pizza (chicken basilico) was delicious. The staff were lovely and friendly and the service was quick without feeling rushed.

I ordered a $50 dollar meal, garlic prawn and garlic bread.
So unhappy with it,!!
I have ordered this before and I received only half, maybe less of what I normally received .
I have forward photo and I have been in contact with restaurant.
I was made out to be untrue and I provided proof.... however amici were very unhelpful.
I feel ripped off... and would not recommend.
