Pretty average, the entrees were really big and the mains weren’t that nice to eat. I normally have an amazing experience here but I feel like the menu and dining experience has started slipping.

went here for dinner, great atmosphere by the water in front of a heater as it cooled off, a long wait for the food but oh so worth it. We had the slow cooked lamb shoulder which the meat just fell off, it was accomanied...by pickled cabbage kumara mash and roast kumara so so good struggled between us to finish the 1.2 kg of meat, exstensive menu from pizza fondue to steak and lamb. not to be missed, just by clock museum and Hundertwasser.More

You don’t get much closer to the water than this and we had a pleasant post-Hundertwasser lunch. We enjoyed all of our food, especially the malfatti. Service was cheerfully good. We found the wine a tad expensive: $16.50 for a glass of rosè is excessive....However, it was good to see a range of Waipu’s McLeod’s beer on tap!More

Enjoyed a lunch here with family yesterday after visiting the Hundertwasser Art Gallery. All the food was absolutely delicious, relaxed but attentive staff. Also great to see so many vegan options available too.

Organised a party of 15 today for a lunch outside. Everyone had a wonderful meal and really enjoyed the food and the excellent care looking after a large group. Thank you

You would think that if your wife was still reading the menu, that you would not be asked by 5 different wait staff if you are ready to order. When the eye fillet arrived, the vegetables looked amazing. I was not expecting that they would...be so over seasoned that salt dominated. Over many decades, I have never had a rare steak so over cooked that it was dry and had all the flavour cooked out of it. A meal check would have corrected the problem, but there was none. This restaurant was once held in high esteem but now under the new management, obviously, no longer. Don't waste your time to only be underwhelmed.More

What a treat, it has been some time since we dined at The Quay and I have to say the experience was just wonderful. The service was great, the food was fantastic and the atmosphere just right for a date. I can not recommend this...restaurant enough. We will definitely be back.More

We ate here for lunch with family and friends. We were visiting from Auckland. We had our lunch and a few drinks and left the restaurant. Sometime later we realized we we missing our stroller pram and had left this as the Quay restaurant. I...immediately rang the restaurant and spoke to the duty manager who confirmed they had the stroller pram but took it to the police station. I rang the police station and they confirmed that it hadn't been handed in. I then rang back and spoke to multiple people over the course on a week and got different answers which indicted they indeed had the stroller pram but had not taken it to the police station. I rang the police station again and spoke to head of lost property and a constable who both confirmed the stroller pram had not been handed in. Clearly they are dishonest and we still can't believe they got away with this. I would not eat here. These people clearly do not run an honest business.More

Lovely location and the staff are always friendly but if the food is poorly cooked, you are urged to take it anyway as the "chef is really busy". Have had this happen more than once. Looks to be understaffed.
