We had 1 night in Whanganui and this was close to our motel. It was v quiet in restaurant, although takeouts busy.
Food was yummy. Pakora prawns were tasty and a bit different. Mains - goat curry and Afghani chicken were tasty, beautifully presented and medium heat was just that!
We would recommend. Be even better with more customers - we were conscious of being last people there and it wasn’t even 8pm.

The menu had an excellent selection for a warm lunch at a very reasonable price. In fact, we visited twice within three days. Staff were attentive and friendly while dealing with several other parties also enjoying lunch.

We had a great time here in November and we found that the food and the wine were well above average. My wife's Lamb Biryani was outstanding, for example, while my Beef Vindaloo was very spicy yet superbly flavoursome. We enjoyed our bottle of Montana Sauvignon Blanc very much, too. Very good service, too!

We love a curry or two and decided to try the best place (according to trip advisor) in Whanganui. Sadly we were somewhat disappointed. The best option we had was the deep fried vege - this was quite good and crunchy.
The mains were well below what we experience at home in Lower Hutt, the meals seemed under-spiced and spices did not seem cooked off. The chicken dish we ordered was dominated with undercooked/ raw onion. The lamb dish was supposed to have lentils, if it did there was no sign of them.
The service was good.

I had a quick lunch here, had a good experience. I askes the server how long it will take, got my lunch in 15 min. Quick service with balancing the flavour. Naan was abit burn but due to the flavour of curry didnt realise it.
Definaly will come.back

A delicious Indian treat after 3 nights of camping food. Tasteful food (chicken tikka masala is very yummy), decent beers, back terrace (not the nicest setting, but o so quiet) and a wonderful and quick service. Recommended!

I enjoyed a tasty meal here. Nice sized portions, well presented with polite and pleasant service. It took a while between courses but was worth waiting for. Can recommend this Indian restaurant which is also Licensed. Prices very reasonable.

Have been coming to tasty Indian for years, always consistently good food. If dining out isn’t your preference they provide takeaway and it’s fast.
Service is always on point.

Customer service ok... food horrible.. oily... Chicken was a very strange texture. Waste or money. Worst curry or meal left us feeling very disappointed.

being in whanganui for a special event and staying the right i googled for the best curry house and found great reviews on their site...well that was a let down...we love our curry...this was average...the decor was nice though, service....the guy didnt smile at all...didnt ask if we wanted tea coffee or pudding....wont be back if were this way again...sorry

We visited Tasty Indian recently and what a delight. The service was very good and the food excellent. I've never tasted meat so tender. Highly recommend this one.
