Stopped in Mint for a brunch on our way to Wellington. The food was cooked really well and they also have gluten free options and deserts. Even though the food was delicious, the dishes felt a little bit too small for their price. Overall, we had a pretty good experience.

Mint in Wanganui always has great food. This visit was no different. Food selection was vast and covers Gf and vegan. Service was excellent, food delivery time was average. Food was tasty and mid priced. Drinks selection was good also. Mint is suitable for all, including families with small children, as they have a small playarea outside. They have the fire blazing in the winter! Only complaint I have, is the acoustics are very noisy. I find if it's busy, I leave with a bit of a headache as noise bounces all all over the multi level Cafe.

Natalie and I chose Mint Cafe because there were tables near the road so the twin grandies could stay asleep in the car (of course the little buggers woke up as soon as the food came). The staff could not have been more helpful. We had brought a vegetable sludge to feed them - "Would you like me to heat that for you?" and when I ordered - "Great choice. That IS SO delicious!" And it was (Pork belly pieces with sour cream and sauce on chips. Lovely presentation with a garnish of micro greens). I can't remember the other good things, but there were plenty; and we went away smiling and saying that we would be back when in Whanganui.

Stopped in for lunch on the 3rd of Jan, it was pretty full, but still some empty tables. We were advised it would take at least an hour to get food ordered off the menu and we were starving, so we had a couple of snacks from the cabinet which were lovely. However, it was only a 30 min wait (which was great, but wouldn't have pre-snacked if we had known). Food was ok, nothing super special, but well cooked and presented, fresh and tasty which is all you can ask for really.
Would be good if the toilets had better signage though, you can't tell where they are from looking around and have to go down a small hallway to find them (where the first sign you see is a "staff only" one!)
Great coffee, lovely servers. Quite a hot environment though upstairs and they would do well to either put in aircon, have some open windows on the river side for cross ventilation and/or some fans.

Third time to visit. First time great. Second time ordered food and coffee, no food arrived. Had to have it deducted from the bill. Thought we would try once more. Waffles soggy and very underwhelming, eggs overcooked. Only good thing was the coffee, is it enough to go back again? Maybe not

Nice food, great service and nice atmosphere. Food did seem a little pricey though. I would have given it 5 stars had there been pricing on the cabinet food, instead I had to ask for the pricing and the waiter didn’t even know and had to check on the computer.

We enjoyed an excellent meal at Mint last night (25 June) after a day at the races. The service was patient and helpful,by who I think was the Owner.
We had a wide range of meals and they were excellent. The lamb was perfectly cooked, and everyone was very happy.

Situated in the shopping court area there is plenty of parking.
The decor is simplistic and local artwork adorns the walls.The chairs are comfortable and there is outdoor seating.
Highchairs are available if needed.
Plenty of cabinet food for a quick meal on the run.
The coffee is Laffare which I personally found weak even though it was a double shot.
I requested it in a tulip cup because I like it strong but it was delivered in a normal cup, I returned it only to have barista roll her eyes st me. The matter was swiftly corrected through another staff member.
I ordered a ficelle but what I got had no resemblance to what was in cabinet. It was like a frisbee, very chewy.The flavour was there but it looked like someone had sat on it.Photos posted to show the difference.

Ordered Rack of Lamb ($38). and got 4 bare bones. Very disappointed. Our group was then overcharged for our drinks (Charged 1 and a half times for 1 bottle of wine) - the cashier was however happy to make amends. Waited 20 minutes for a beer.

So good we had breakfast and lunch here every day while we were in wanganui. Delicious food, great service, good prices, good coffee. My favourite - eggs Benedict with bacon on croissant. Service was great at both busy and quiet times with meals coming out pretty fast

17 of us welcomed and well fed in this wonderful cafe and bar. The cocktails are amazing. I tried several including the Tiramisutini. Delicious. Pizza and burgers tasted great and looked yummy. It was very busy on the Friday and Saturday nights we stopped in. The entire family raved about the quality of service and the food. A great night out and lovely venue. Highly recommended

Waitstaff were lightly rude and seemed put out when we asked for a bottle of water. Everything just had an edge of tension, as if we weren’t all that welcome or something. The food (brunch) was alright, but one of the coffees…. was…. The Worst coffee I’ve ever had, undrinkable. The barista needs to be retrained in how not to over extract the beans and burn the shot. The milk had also been burned to smithereens. It is impossible for the barista or the server to look at that drink and not know it wasn’t going to taste awful.
The food in general was ok, but you just get the sense that a strong manager needs to sort this place out. Lots of inconsistencies in what was on each table. Lightly frustrated/annoyed seeming staff..

This restaurant has a minute menu. Pizza burger and some mains. There is only one steak on the menu. Please Change the butcher, scotch fillet on the bone. As tough as nails incorrectly grilled, well mature.
Seared salmon well done!
Gin and tonic with no gin.
When one pays the bill, do not stand on top of the person come on, a bit of colture. Definitely an experience not to be repeated.

Have been coming here for a few years now and have never had a bad meal/experience.
The food is always very tasty and the food is served with flair. There is always a nice touch that makes a meal just that more delicious, thank you.
The lemon curd with my pancakes was so good! My partner always goes for the lambs fry!

We chose to have dinner at Mint due to reviews and proximity to our accommodation. The staff are friendly and the food was ok. But I feel Mint is trying to be much more than it is and actually trying too hard. The music playing was too loud and was ‘dance’ music - it was 6:45pm on a rainy summer evening; far too early for a rave. The cocktail menu is far too large for a place that is not a cocktail bar. And due to half price cocktails before 7pm it meant that drinks took far too long to be made and be given to patrons. Keep it simple and only have a handful of expertly made cocktails rather than a huge amount of poorly made ones. The wine list is limited and doesn’t seem to have been picked to match the food. As an example, the chardonnay selection were all from the South Island when Hawkes bay and Martinborough or Gisborne wines would have been better. The food was ok however the menu was mismatched and the food came out ‘warm’ rather than tasty hot. I would recommend against the vegan tacos - I really needed a finger bowl of warm water to clean myself up afterwards. The staff were so busy making cocktails that few tables were asked how their meals were, and empty plates took so long to be cleared afterwards that it wasn’t worth asking for dessert. If it could decide it’s place, mint could be a nice cafe. Perhaps stick with the daytime crowd or refine the dinner dining experience.
