Thank you for your kind words, we look forward to welcome you again 😀😊
Every time we visit Whanganui we eat here. The food is excellent and this time was no different. What was different was the poor service, caused, I think by the large number of takeaway orders.
We waited 30 minutes for the starter to arrive, and...1 hour 15 minutes until the mains. While we waited we watched at least 6 or 7 takeaway orders come and go, some with four meals and one with six! All the while, we were left waiting for our food.
We were taking about leaving just when the mains arrived.
We have been in this restaurant when it’s been busy in the past, and the service was fine. Once the takeaways stopped going out, I could see food flying out of the kitchen to tables.
I gave feedback about this when I paid, but I’m afraid it wasn’t well received; they said people call and make orders. I pointed out that they could put a message on to say they are too busy to take phone orders.
I really can’t understand why you’d make your seated customers wait for food, especially on a day (Anniversary day) when you charge a 15% surcharge, especially when some will probably write reviews, and in this case probably not eat there again.More
What a hidden gem the Thai Villa is. I went in totally not expecting the food should be to a standard that it was. Absolutely to die for. Delicious. I think it’s the best food I’ve eaten in my life. The flavours and quality of...the food were amazing. The staff were friendly. Would 10/10 recommend.More
Our Motel receptionist advised us to go to Thai Villa as we wanted a good vegetable meal after traveling for two days without them.
We really enjoyed our meal. The staff were very friendly and attentive and the restaurant comfortable and welcoming.
The best part...though was at the end of the meal when my husband went to pay our bill. I saw him laughing and smiling so went over to find we had had a "free" meal. When we enquired why the lovely young lady behind the counter just replied "It is Christmas, so have a lovely time. To say we were "gob smacked is an understatement. Not sure why we were picked and she would not say but it was a lovely end to our holiday.
Very happy indeed so a big THANK YOU to Thai Villa. Rex & PattiMore
Found this restaurant while travelling. Food is excellently prepared and tastes great. Authentic Thai and has great options for vegetarian, vegan and gluten free. Highly recommended.
We chose the takeaway option, however dining in looks great also with comforter cushions as you would expect to...find when in Thailand.
Well worth a visitMore
A reasonable OK reviewed restaurant in a town that's not super fussy to have top notch restaurants. So we went with four people.
* Not much competition
* Good location in the main hospitality area
* Close to the river
* Reasonably nice atmosphere...in a not too large space
MINUS/to be improved
* The staff, all staff -from the welcome staff, the drinks staff, the food staff- ...all staff!, were totally disinterested in us (and easy to check with some subtle looking around) and likely lacked interest in any of their dining guests
* No reason could be identified why this indifference is coming out so clearly
* The food shows this same indifference, with a bit more subtlety and attention the food could be lifted beyond what it is now: average 'take away' quality.
* Cheap tofu, cheap meat, cheap.....
* The drinks list is utterly inspiring as well, another missed opportunity
There is only one thing to say: avoid this restaurant for any dining till they have sorted out their staff including their kitchen staff. Try some limited takeaway, which i imagine they'll do, to see if their food quality is improving.More
