Craft Beer and Dinner

Let's begin with the beer. What can I say other than that it is excellent. There is a whole range of craft beers on tap as well as craft gins from different parts of NZ. I have been here before, but this was the first time under its new banner of Mothership. The front of house was efficient and on the ball. When booking I had to revise the number of my party upwards a couple of times and they took this in their stride. Our table was ready for us when we arrived and everything seemed well organised. Our waitress was very efficient and got our names and respective orders spot on. We waited for 45-50 minutes for our meals to come out. This seemed like a long time as the restaurant was not especially busy and I suspect there may be an issue of co-ordination out in the kitchen because one of our party had his main course served before he was even half way through his entree. However, the burgers were up to the usual standard and it was almost a shame to demolish them for eating. The chips were also on the cooler side of hot which suggested that some of our servings may have been sitting around for a time before being served. A number of us had desserts and the creme brûlée was exceptional, delightfully presented. I rate tonight's experience as a solid 4-star performance. There is a warm and friendly buzz about this place. The bar staff were clearly knowledgeable about the variety of craft beers. This place can only get better and it is already pretty good.

Craft Beer and Burgers Encore

This venue continues to surprise and delight. On this occasion we relocated from the bar and dining area into the restaurant proper. It was quieter there and our group wanted to have a leisurely opportunity to chat over dinner. The beers were great. The burgers were brilliant. The desserts were a particular highlight. In my experience restaurants often excel at main courses but disappoint when it comes to the desserts. But these were as great and exquisitely put together as the main courses. Our waitress for the evening (Kayla) looked after us well. I got the feeling of a happy, well-coordinated staff who knew what they were doing and ensured that we all had a great time. Definitely returning.

Further Dinners & Craft Beer

This establishment is just over 5 minutes walk from where we currently live, which is just as well because the choices of craft beers inevitably mean you would not be able to drive home! I've been to this place a number of times. Their burgers are works of art and the chef does a great job with them. The craft beers were up to their usual standard and the main challenge was to decide which ones. The same could be said by my opposite number about the boutique gins. We had a minor problem with the chips that was rapidly sorted out. For dessert we had the chocolate cheese cake (made freshly earlier today by the chef) and a brilliant Affogato which pleased me greatly. However, the big shout-out for this evening goes to our waitress Bree who talked us through our menu options, assisted us with our drink choices and di so with great humour and charm. I hope the management at Mothership look after her because waitresses this good are hard to come by. So a good result here tonight and a gladly awarded 5 Stars,

A disappointing dinner.

The dinner provided to our large group was not up to standard. We were provided with a very small selection of vegetables, boiled potatoes and broccoli, the beef and ham were pre-sliced and left soaking in water. The beef was tough, solid, and tasteless. Meat should be carved fresh. Desert was fine but many in our group would have liked an option of a fruit salad.

Great beer. Disappointing service

First off, The beer and range of beer was great, the female staff member was kind and responsive. I had a beer tasting platter which I enjoyed. My wife who doesn't drink and is my sober driver just wanted water. The rude manager, who was already making us unwelcome as we didn't want dinner, and was telling us where we could sit, then rudely and loudly told off the female member of staff for bringing a carrafe of water to us as "she should come and get her own water!" This manager (of Asian nationality) ruined my visit, and any chance of us staying for food or more drinks. If It was just the other staff member, 5 stars, not 2 as the beers were great.

Great but too skow

Been twice recently, first time was amazing service and food. Second time was busier and the staff were lovely but it took an hour and a half to get our food which seemed excessive and the food was nice when we got it but we were over it by then. Sad because my partner is not ready to come back ☹️

Great dining experience

Beautiful food, beautifully presented. Good size servings, and good value for money. 15 in our group and everyone enjoyed their meal. Table was attractively set. Timely service. Highly recommend

awesome everything!

theming was super cute. alcoholic drinks were great (according to my family) and the mr. replicator was an excellent mocktail. food. we ended up having most of the menu and it was all excellent. would love to come back on our next trip.

Crap service and food

Had to wait at one stage 10 minutes to get a drink. Rang the bell 6 times. Ordered ribs. Dry with lots of fat. Menu says best in town. Tui. Chips cold.

Birthday Dinner

First time we had visited the Mothership . My son that lives out of town loves his craft beer - so we decided to try this venue.I can't rave highly enough about the whole experience. Staff were really great .Food was cooked to perfection!! And the portions were perfect , not too big - allowing comfortable room for the fantastic desserts .The one downside was that they were out of a few of the craft beers - however they were very busy with a function - so this was understandable . I would highly recommend this venue.
