We went because of the ratings. Perhaps we ordered the wrong things. Very basic food and presentation. Hubby had steak and eggs, he said it was ok, not great but ok. I had what was called the steak sandwich - this was the real let...down, it was on cheap white bread, inside had small cut size portions of meat (I guess portions of a piece of snitzel) and some fried onions - imagine a piece of snitzel and then half of that is cut into small pieces, this was the amount provided. Even with the price low this was terrible. The staff are very friendly. Its a warm type of environment, but our food experience means we wont be back.More

The Raetihi pies are delicious, some of the best around i reckon. And the all day kids pancakes were a huge hit. Very good strong coffees as well. Haven't stopped in here for a few years but will come again. Good access on SH.

Really smiley chatty staff. And very accommodating, making me a sandwich to order when I didn't want what was on offer! The cafe is a treasure trove of old stuff, worth visiting for the memorabilia alone!

We stopped for a snack and couldn’t go past the pies on display. And they tasted as good as they looked! We all agreed they were the best pies we had all had in a very long time. Presentation, quality of ingredients, flavour - 10...out of 10. And all served with a warm welcoming friendly service. Oh and the coffee was also great! Highly recommend this cafe and looking forward to our next visit.More

Stopped in for a pie and a drink. Delicious pie and friendly staff. On the way to bathroom staff member told me my pie would get eaten by the birds as i was sitting in the courtyard, When i came back the staff member had...sat by my food to shoo the birds away. You can't get better service then thatMore

This café was a great find as we travelled through Whanganui. Very friendly service, quite exception from the owners. The food was great. Excellent service and menu.

The best thing is the absolutely yummy gourmet pies. The coffee is not great and the decor is dated.the staff are nice and helpful.i was able to take my dog into the courtyard.

This cafe's Raetihi are unbelievablely good. The pastry is crisp, the fillings are FULL of a tial meat! , heaven on a plate (can you tell I enjoy a good pie?) We enjoyed their coffee too. It was hot with good crema. At $8 a...pie it's not cheap, but they are defiantly value for money.More
