Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Nice place to visit, food was pleasant to look at even better to eat. Scallops wrapped in bacon was delicious to eat and reasonably priced, well worth a visit

Excellent service and delicious food. We called 10 minutes before we arrived and they were very accommodating and great service. Thoroughly enjoyed everything.

I like this venue, and find staff to be responsive when you attend the bistro. However it appears that both winter and COVID have significantly restricted menu choices (the menu used to offer two pages, but is now limited to one). Our family includes vegitarian...and herbivore eaters. We haven't attended recently due to menu changes, but have hopes for the new seasonal menu.More

We've been eating here regularly for dinner and have been so impressed with the 5 star cuisine (especially the Risotto and the Thai fish dishes) Dessert is another thing altogether - divinely decadent and oh so delicious! Chocolate Brownie and the Dom Pedro particular recommended....Behind the unassuming and down to earth ambience (located in one of the most historic and character filled buildings in Thames) lies some serious gourmet cuisine . Oh and don't forget to sample the World famous award winning Awildian Botanical Gin - very special!More

So glad we got a table here without a booking as the food was excellent. I had the Kung Ki and it was full of flavour and delicious, hubby had the fisherman's basket & he really enjoyed that. We shared the garlic bread which was...huge & also came with extra butter. Dessert was yummy, the snickers brownie and afogato were the best. Would come here again.More

We stopped in Thames on our way to Coromandel in one of the only places open and found the best food ever. Quick service, friendly staff and well run. A gem in Thames.

The meal was delicious. The waiters were very friendly and attentive, in fact we rate is as up there with the best service we have ever had in a restaurant.

Had a lovely meal last night. The garlic bread was amazing, and the Rooster burger was great. The whole family had lovely dishes and were all full up! Drinks were a little slow but overall we were very happy.

Very busy on a Friday night. Friendly service and a fixed menu plus blackboard specials which we ate off. Drinks were way cheaper than Auckland! Had the mussels which were delicious. The Chef came out for a chat and we sat with one of the...locals because there weren't any free tables. Definitely recommend.More

A quick trip up to thames for the evening and a great meal here. We both had the salmon and risotto and it was amazing. Alothbof younger staff on that night but they were great. For a Thursday night the place was pretty full and...we were in early. Was filling up when we left.More

We had a fabulous lunch this week at Grahamstown Bar & Diner. Service was outstanding - friendly and very helpful. We had a very lovely seafood chowder followed by braised beef cheeks on polenta. Succulent and fine dining standard. Well done to the chef and...team there. We will be back as we live in Whitianga..More

Our waitress was incredibly friendly and the food was overall very nice! I ordered the chorizo and prawn pasta, the quantity was massive and quite flavorful. My partner ordered the steak, it was cooked well and he loved the sauce. Very impressed at how friendly...and welcoming the staff was.More

We both enjoyed our food here. I had the chicken burger and my partner the beef burger. They were tasty and a good size with chunky tasty fries. However the service let the experience down. The woman who seemed to run the place visited every...table but ours. If she had visited she would have seen another drink order was needed. When the waitress bought our meals another drink needed to be asked for but it never arrived. On paying we mentioned this to the bar man. He did not apologise or indicate he would actually do anything to prevent this happening again. Where was the manager then?More
