Our Restaurant is in the heart of the CBD in Palmerston North. We have a well established menu that caters for all customers. Our very experienced Head Chef Dean Harris can cater to all dietary requirements - given the right amount of notice. On our recent stay in New Zealand we visited ‘Aberdeen’ restaurant with my son and family, to celebrate my husband’s birthday. The restaurant has a lovely atmosphere - airy and spacious - with a very relaxed feel. The service was very good - although busy, we were looked after well. We began with cocktails with mixed breads and pâtés We all chose the steak (which was fabulous) served with a wide selection of vegetables We all had different desserts again fab! The service was very good all evening. All in a all, a celebration to remember.

We just had a lovely meal here. I had the lamb and my partner had the steak. The lamb was delicious with a lovely combination of veges, lentils and sauces. My partners steak was cooked to perfection and he loved the truffle butter. It was a superb meal and we can’t wait to return :-)

The four of us were very happy with the awesome service and the quality meals. My steak was cooked to perfection and the prawns for my entree had wonderful flavours. The two wines I tried being a pinot noir and a chard were above average.Thankd to Sarah and the team

Extremely disappointed in the meal and the service was appalling.No vegan option was offered except the beef salad without the beef and cheese. My son had a glass of red wine and a bottle of beer spilt on him over his new clothes and over a hard covered book he was given for his birthday. We had to clean up and try and dry the book. My husband ordered potatoes on the side and one was dropped on the floor before it got to the table. Apology was not sincere and no offer of anything to compensate. The fish was very strong and was cold. I have never written any review before but I could not let this go.
I have always really enjoyed Aberdeen but I won't be going back.

Came in to Aberdeen to have a lovely evening with some of my friends and was really looking forward to having a nice night out. Was told by the waitress looking after our table the ice cream trio of the day special which was affogato ice cream (as well as vanilla and black Doris) which sounded incredible, so I ordered it. Ice cream came out and was boysenberry, vanilla, and black Doris, disappointing as I really don’t like boysenberry ice cream. Waitress came and meal checked our desserts and I told her I thought I was getting a different flavour, and that I don’t even like the ice cream, to which she awkwardly replied “sorry”, and wandered off. No following up with her manager, no fixing the bill or any compensation. Three small scoops of ice cream was absolutely not worth $17 either. Disappointing, quality of the place has evidently gone down in customer service. Used to be a gorgeous and luxurious place to dine, now I would say it’s the level of Lonestar.

Great food, but atmosphere and service below par. Disappointingly the table was not ready at the time of the booking. The place was busy, and the table cramped. No drinks list was provided with the menus, and had to be requested twice. When the wine was ordered, it arrived after the main courses had been served. The entrees of Duck parfait and NZ Salmon were fine. the main course steaks were all cooked to our orders, and all were enjoyed. The prices aren’t cheap, and the quality of the food is up to standard but the shed like quality of the dining area, and the service are more chain restaurant quality.

Absolutely the worst place for Service. Since New ownership it’s the worst I’ve seen might as well go to the nightly roast house. Over priced with terrible drinks and low quality food ($55), the poor staff who only have a small handful on working per night.
I have seen the owner come out to complain to another table in front of everyone wearing a basic ugly tshirt, but don’t worry he illl still serve his ‘regulars’ in full class. Apsolutle joke of place can’t wait for new ownership who know what they are really serving and will serve with real class.

Visited with a group of friends for a farewell.
We were seated in an open area which was great, particularly in Covid times.
Unfortunately we were in direct line of the air con which was blowing cold air, the server did change the temperature on request saying she would put it on 18. Goodness knows it’s original setting.
Drinks menu didn’t have soft drinks and I ordered a sparkling water (off menu, no price). On paying at the end my bottle of water was $15, exorbitant compared to other restaurants.
$72 for steak, dessert and water for 1. I’m glad I didn’t bring the family.

This place used to be one of the best in town but the quality has gone downhill. Garlic bread at the start felt like it was microwaved not toasted. The eye-fillet steaks ordered were below a premium quality cut, and both mediums came out too raw and bloody, and one dessert we wanted was not available. Service was okay and friendly, even though one waiter was walking around in shorts and sneakers. Disappointing that this place seems to have lost its premium restaurant standards it used to have.

Firstly the chairs we seated at were not comfortable or suitable to dine from, they were arm chairs that were more suited for a lounge as they tilted you back, had to sit on the edge of the chair to eat. The music was too loud and not easy listening background music. The entree's were very basic, garlic bread was supposed to be ciabatta and wasn't and there was no garlic flavour. The steaks were OK, but the vegetables were disappointing. Carrots and broccoli more al la dente than would like and the potato au gratin tasted precooked and reheated as were the duck fat potato's as they were not crunchy or crisp as you would expect. I suspect they have a cook as a opposed to a 'chef' but the prices are 'chef' prices.

Great service and food. We had lamb rack and fillet steak which were both lovely- we felt the steak was a little under and I ordered the lamb medium which was perfect. The potato gratin was so good and a great wine selection too. Wait staff were super friendly and we had a great experience - too full for dessert!

Great evening out in what has become our preferred restaurant for special events. We both had the eye fillet steaks which were cooked very well. However the only glitch this time was the cheese cake desert in which the cake was too dry. The waitress was exceptional very courteous. Waiting time for food was not great but I appreciate the restaurant was nearly full. We booked for 6.30pm and arrived in time but didnt get our meal until 7.30pm and we were supposed to be out by 8pm according to booking information. Overall though we will be back

This restaurant lives up to its reputation. The meals are delicious and my fillet beef was cooked to perfection just the way I like it - no pink - well done. The wine selection is not extensive but what they have is well priced and very good. We would return again.

We arrived a bit before their official opening time. We were greeted by a friendly waitress, who led us to a table with very comfortable seats.
While we waited for our food, we noticed that everything was spotlessly clean, until we looked at the ceiling lights. They "were equipped with natures fly-catchers".
If we had researched their prices before visiting, we probably would've gone elsewhere, as their prices are a bit outside of our budget, but it is probably a good thing that we didn't know their prices before entering because we certainly got value for money.
Their chef is a true artist with flavours. My wife's pork was flavoured with herbs that most people wouldn't dream of using with pork, but the result was out of this world. She was blown away by the beautifully combined flavours.
My fish was cooked to perfection, and the accompanying salad was excellent.
Last, but not least: Most of the restaurants at Aberdeen's end of the scale only give you a tiny amount of food. Not so at Aberdeen. We have a healthy appetite, but we had to concede defeat, and ask for a "doggy bag".

A lovey setting and friendly welcome. Our waitress was quite nice while seemed abit frustrated that we were treating the dinner as a catch up and taking our time. We ordered a nice red which was put in a decanter and tasted lovely. A bit surprised the staff passing didn’t check or fill up glasses. Food was nice and I would go back.
