Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

This is a sizeable cafe, quite dark in decor but with glass windows across the front and a spacious layout, it retains a feeling of light and space. There are also a few tables out front by the street. The menu is French-themed to go with the cafe name, but still offers the usual range of brunch options. We went for the pain perdu (French toast) which came with bananas and bacon, fresh ingredients and cooked well. The coffee beans are Atomic and the cups ACME. Lovely service, good toilets out back and a good space for conversation, there is a lot to like about Cafe Brie and we will happily return.

I have always driven past this hidden gem and never gone in until yesterday!
I was impressed right away with the csbi rt food, layout, atmosphere, theme, everything it's totally on point I love it. Coffee was amazing food brought out promptly and hot too, I love a higher temperature of my meal.
Loved it so much I went back and took my mum for lunch the next day too and ill be making my way through the menu items and making this place my new regular.

We popped in this morning for breakfast. They do kid sized portions of all their breakfast/lunch menu items. He asked them to split their full cooked breakfast for our daughters (age 9 and 10). Absolutely no problem and it was a perfect size for the girls. Service was amazing and all the food was delicious. Would love to eat there everyday!!

Cafe Brie has become my 'go to cafe' when friends visit from out of town and we want somewhere where we're guaranteed great service and fabulous food. I've visited a few times now and each time I've not been disappointed - the service is quick, the drinks hot and the food consistently of a high standard. I'm a fan of their Eggs Benny, the French Toast is a treat but my current favourite would have to be the mushrooms on toast - if only the chef would share their recipe ...

The first, ánd last time we follow the advice of Trip advisor.
Fish and chips with salad: only the salad was fresh and crisp. Fish was dry and had had probably about 4 days in the fridge, absolutely no taste.
Hamburger with chips: the topping was one sticky mess of overcooked onions, melted cheese etc. Not the hamburger my husband was expecting from Cafe Brie!
Cafe Brie was reported to be a French cafe, but we could not discover anything French on the menu.
Maybe we had to high expectations.

I paid $23 for an eggs Benny with bacon and what do you know the eggs were over poached again like my last visit. Can’t believe your chefs can’t poach eggs. Hot chocolate for my daughter was too hot to drink and the mocha wasn’t flash at all.
Only good thing about the visit was the lovely young girl on the counter. Friendly bubbly and helpful.

Did you bring your concerns to the attention of the friendly bubbly young lady on the counter? thought not. This is not worthy of further comment. .Robert.

First time trying here and thought it was ok. Personally I didn’t feel it had much of a vibe upon entering. Cabinet food looked good, service was friendly enough. Coffee was nice, vege breakky was an interesting make up but was ok. Had bacon on the side and given only one rasher which I thought was a small amount. The potato/kumara lacked seasoning while the overall plate was presented well.

We were touring on motorbikes and needed a tasty, filling brekkie to set us up for the day, so we went for the porridge. I have never had porridge like that before. Normally the only tasty thing about it is the fruit and toppings, but at Cafe Brie, it was a masterpiece. Creamy, sweet and flavourful, with maple syrup and fresh fruit, we loved it so much we came back a month later on our return trip and couldn't wait to order it again. We asked for the recipe, but I'll never make it as good as at Cafe Brie. Lovely people, cosy surroundings and great food. Don't pass through Palmy without eating here.

My husband and I went here for lunch pre: Covid-19 lockdown...
We both had great meals and coffees, the girls working were happy and friendly. The vibe was very welcoming.
Hubby had the fish and chips and said they were the BEST fish and chips he had ever had!!!
Side note: The russian fudge is also amazing :)
Thank you team, see you after lockdown

I have been to Cafe Brie twice now and I have thoroughly enjoyed the food each time. They have a great selection of savoury and sweet options, their iced coffee is to die for and the atmosphere is really nice in there. Prices are fairly reasonable and the meals are a good size. It’s often busy but it’s not noisy or too loud. Will definitely be returning. Below is a picture of the French toast I ordered this time.

First time to Cafe Brie in years and I was pleasantly delighted! Great service (super efficient but also friendly in the covid L2 setting which was appreciated) and excellent food!
I had the Chicken Cajun salad which had tender crispy chicken pieces and yummy salads greens complete with little edible flowers. :)
Others at table all enjoyed their meals too. One had the bouillabaisse, one had whitebait fritters, and the other lambs fry. All very tasty and generous with the protein portions.
Thank you Cafe Brie chefs and service staff for a wonderful lunch!

We had to wait before being attended, and when we were sitting we waited at least 15/20 with empty dirty dishes in front of us before asking if someone could remove them. Secondly when they were coming with our food the table was not clean at all and had to ask again if it could be cleaned. We had ordered water and had to ask again because it didn’t come. As a cherry on a cake the food is not that great. Not a good place.

We were visiting Palmy for a weekend getaway and were thrilled to discover this lovely breakfast/lunch spot. In fact the brekkie was so good that we returned again the following morning!
The decor is lovely, with good use of soft surfaces for absorbing noise, so it was great not to have the usual "café clatter". The menu was interesting with many special touches, the food was beautifully presented and the service was great.
The only aspect we didn't really like was the tea and coffee, and whilst it may be personal, we believe that they could switch to better suppliers.
We will definitely go here again in future.

Great cafe for brunch and very pleasant and competent staff. Really great selection of food on the menu. For drinks we had an iced chocolate and a cappachino which were classic and the fish with homemade fries and a beautiful fresh salad was yum!

Visited with a friend for brunch and was really happy with the food. The decor is a little tired, but the service and food was great. I really liked how orders were taken at our table with the portable eftpos machine for payment at the time. Keep this up out of level 2! I had the eggs Benedict with bacon and yum, the hollandaise was perfect. My friend had the vegetarian breakfast and was also happy. I will definitely be back.
