Two extremes for our meal at The Carrington. Both of the entrees were fantastic (soft-shell crab and three cheese croquettes). Mains: Rack of Lamb was fantastic. BUT: The Duck. Oh dear. The two small pieces of breast were both WAY over-cooked. Tough to cut and...so dry. I should have sent it back! Dessert: The white chocolate and mango fondant was awful. The top was baked nicely but when I put the spoon inside it was a mix of runny sauce and sort of an un-cooked pudding type consistency. Left extremely disappointed. Didn't want to mention the dessert to the waiter as I'd already mentioned the duck! The chef seemed to spend more time in the main room speaking to a group of five women at a table than in the kitchen trying not to over-cook a piece of duck! The waiter was top-level. Very attentive and helpful. Sorry, but we won't be coming back here again.More
This restaurant is stunning... it reminds me of the restaurants from the 80s that liked to take fine dining to the next level. Everything is exquisite. Service was professional but also, pleasant. Our waitress was amazing. Six of us ventured here for dinner recently. It's...across from Victoria Lake and it was easy to walk here from our accommodation. One of our group had actually stayed in this hotel a week or so earlier. The menu is just the very best choices that you want to see, they have everything covered... I hovered between three choices when it's usually easy to make a choice. I chose the steak and it was utterly perfect... everything about my meal was mouthwatering and delicious. Of course the group I was with are always great company, so it would have been difficult to have a bad night...but still... The Carrington is a really special place. I saw it as quite romantic... shame I was here for business. :)More
One of the funnier hotel experiences I’ve had. Felt like I was in an episode of Dynasty with Crystal at the front desk and the owners should really build on that. Rooms spacious and comfortable with Lavazza pods a nice touch. Easy parking. The location...on the highway across from the SAM art museum is excellent with an easy walk across the park to many of Shepparton’s best restaurants and cafes.More
I have stayed in many high end hotels and this one Is not deserving of its rating. Stayed king spa room $270 per night Very quiet good size room with lake view but that is where my praise stops. Minibar sparsely stocked. And not suited...for 2 people. Few snacks. Tea/coffee Not replenished for second night stay. Minimal bathroom toiletries with no body lotion and no bubbles for a spa bath. Need to log into wifi repeatedly. Most programs on smart tv need a subscription to open. Inaccurate breakfast menu with fruit platter featuring rotted fruit and label still on the plums. Based on this I did not dare to try the hotel restaurant. Coffee served in paper cups. Gives me the overall impression that staff do not really care about their jobs and that costs are being cut wherever possible while maintaining a high price to the customer.More
We booked for dinner here on a Saturday night. Everyone arriving had their Covid vaccination status checked which was a good sign. We were able to select our own table, menus were on the table and water brought soon after we sat down. Our orders...for pan fried trout were taken after about 10 minutes, and the meals arrived piping hot and well presented. The only tiny criticism we had was the crispy skin was a little salty.More
We dined as a couple last night and had a lovely evening. They were busy but service was friendly and efficient. We were told they were trialling a new menu and we really enjoyed our choices. We shared our entrees - duck coquettes and arancini....We then tried the ocean trout & rack of lamb. All meals were delicious & my lamb was cooked perfectly. We will definitely return to try a few other menu items.More
Food good price not so good. Had oysters Kilpatrick garlic bread steak and the beef ragu. Nice amount of garlic just a bit dry. I had the beef raguwas good
Stayed in the king size deluxe room and had dinner at the restaurant. The room was first class with large TV and 7 foxtel channels. Bed was comfortable and it had a couch you could sit on to watch telly. The restaurant had fabulous food...at a reasonable price and a good wine list. Staff were very sociable and gave great service. The cooked breakfast was done very well with poached eggs cooked to perfection. Recommended highly.More
An overnight stay and a meeting here. Older style motel- comfortable, clean, and friendly. Also had a meeting here. Facilities very good as was food and catering.
We stayed and arrived on Australia Day - not their fault but the only thing I got told was that the hotel restaurant would be closed that night and to my question, if anything else was open I only got a shoulder shrug...well not the...least bit helpfulMore
This was a great little stay for a few days, the staff were always nice and helpful. The venue was clean and presentable, the pool was great to cool off in .
Clean, quiet rooms. Friendly service from Check-in, through to checkout, including breakfasts and dinners, there is no reason to leave!! Directly across from the lake, this is a beautiful location. Will definitely return here!!
The room was clean and the on site facilities were in good condition. My wife and I had dinner in the restaurant. The food was great and although the restaurant was quiet, it was warm and the staff were friendly.
Meals prepared and served well. There is a depth to the food which deserves experiencing. The setting is the best in Shepparton with the building and views across the lake working together.
