We had looked online for somewhere in Westport to go to for breakfast. There were mixed reviews for most places but this is one I would definitely cross off the list.
Coffee was from Sublime in Nelson so the expectation was good but the delivery...was disappointing.
The pancakes were not light and fluffy, more heavy and stodgy and covered in icing sugar which was most unwelcome. The unadorned food should speak for itself if it is good enough.
The tables were sticky. I think they are always sticky due to the old wooden tops rather than a lack of cleanliness.
The staff were pleasant and other than the sticky tables the cafe was clean but these would be the only good points.
Go somewhere else....better still keep driving to Murchison where you are spoilt for choice.More
After a long ride we were desperate for a cup of coffee. Very quick service coffee came very quickly and it was delicious. We also had an brownie in a mint slice gluten-free was also very delicious. Next time we are definitely going to stop...here again.More
Stopped at J's for a quick lunch. Great toasted sandwich with curly fries, tasty filo for my wife and nice sublime flat whites for us both. Food was very good, price reasonable, staff friendly. Overall an excellent lunch.
Arrived in town and ready for lunch so in we went, madam went for the turbot with salad and while it didn’t set the world on fire it was quite acceptable but a little more fish would have been better. I had the best value...meal in NZ for the last two weeks, tomato and capsicum soup with a couple of pieces of ciabatta toast thrown in, it was delicious and only $9. Would gladly returnMore
Came here after hearing good reviews but was left disappointed. Waited 40 minutes for an eggs Bene with over done eggs and very bland flavour. Wouldn’t even know there was sauce on it. The cafe wasn’t overly busy either.
We came here twice in two days. First time, we had three grandchildren with us, and all of us found something nice to eat and drink. Good service, prompt and friendly. There weren't many customers that first day, but next time the place was packed....We still found a booth (this time there were 7 of us), and once again the food and drinks were excellent. I should mention the Sublime Coffee, that the adults really enjoyed. Overall: Really very good.More
