Visited the Club Buller for birthday dinner. We turned up at 5pm thinking surely they would be open for dinner by then but arrived and was told to come back at 6pm even though the opening hours on the door stated 5.30pm. With 2 hungry...kids in tow when we turned up just before 6 was greeted with "we aren't quite ready yet" for the roast carvery so we ended up having to order the steaks, very unprepared we thought. The $6 kids meals were appreciated as not many places you can go for a kids meal at that lower price. The steak, salad and chips sounded reasonable and good based from the menu but when served up my steak smelt awful and the portion provided wasn't worth $25. The "prime" fillet tasted of freezer burn and wasn't nice at all. Hubby enjoyed the mushroom sauce and I enjoyed the garlic butter and chips but the steak was not good. The soda we ordered was so flat and not bubbly too. The meals were served really quick but there was nothing special about their service or food.More

Roast Pork. $16.00 excellent value. Large size. I also saw...the fish and steak. Heard they were cooked beautifully. Definitely reccomend.More

My partner and I came to Westport and he wanted to support the local club, so we went for dinner. The restaurant offered half sized meals so this is what I requested - then got charged for a full size - we questioned this and...got told that yes you will be charged the full price.......so we got the full size. Unfortunately the scallops were not cooked properly so I didn't end up eating them......while we were there another 2 meals from other tables were sent back to the kitchen......as for the service of the waitress......perhaps a refresher on customer service is required. Shaking of the head and rolling eyes at customers is not acceptable. No matter how busy you are the customer shouldn't know your under pressure. We then moved through to the bar and found the few locals we chatted with were very nice and friendly and did make us feel welcome. Probably won't rush back though I am sorry.More

What a pleasant place to eat. When we went there I had had enough of eating out and large meals and just wanted something light without meat. The Club had an excellent salad bar and for $5 I got a well filled dessert bowl of...a variety of delicious salads some with unusual but very nice flavours. The other two of our group also considered the food very good. As it wasn't very busy in the restaurant at that time the chefs came to our table to ask if we enjoyed the food. We were asked not to leave until we had tested their new food--cinnamon and sugar coated bananas deep fried. This was a free sample that we enjoyed very much.More

Excellent meal presented very well. Lovely friendly staff. Lovely clean well presented venue. Value for money. First time I have ever been given a full glass of wine and not a mere half.
