Monday night dinner. Went around 7ish, big queue so thought was a good sign. Lots of diners had eaten early so were lots of tables wsiting to be vleared and ceaned. This never happened the whole night, not a good look, very messy. I guess because they were short staffed. Considering how busy they were foid came out quite quickly. Service definitely without! Any smiles... had to ask twice for our glasses of wine. I had crayfish, was spoilt by the thin sauce all over it. I still enjoted the crayfish. Partner had a seafood combo dish, was really good. Ovserving other diners good looked great.

Nice Meal with aspects of disappointment!

Group party of 8 arrived without a booking but was welcomed and seated. 7 of us ordered the set menu plus one meal off the menu. Set menu meal was very nice however we had to ask 3 times for our additional meal. Despite being told it was on the way it never arrived. It turned out that this option wasn't available by which we had nearly finished our mains. Disappointing that they wouldn't accept that our order hadn't come as they had replaced it with something else without asking as part of the set met. Clearly we didn't pay for what we didn't get. Overall nice meal but disappointing after care re the additional meal.

Ming’s is go to Chinese fresh cooked food

Very good freshly cooked meals, you can hear the chef cooking up the entrees in the kitchen. I had sizzling chicken and it indeed came out with sizzle and perfectly done. The stir fry vegetables were nicely crisp and the peanut chicken was delightful. I asked a small group of Asian diners how they were enjoying their meal and all said very much so. I highly recommend Ming’s for a reliable delicious meal.

Had a lovely meal here. Decided to book a table after seeing how busy everywhere was the night before. When we got there every table in the place was full and people queuing outside the door. When we told them we had booked they made sure we had the next available table before everyone else waiting. The service was pleasant, helpful and very quick. We slowed things down a little by ordering our shared mains one at a time. The servers were absolutely fine with that. When we phoned to book we asked if we could BYO on the wine and they said yes and it was $12 corkage, they do offer wine but we read that it was a very limited list. There is a bottle shop a couple of doors away so this worked perfect. The food was lovely, came steaming hot, excellent service. Would highly recommend if you are in the mood for Chinese, but best to book.

Bizarre experience

We were happy with the first dishes that came out. Then we were brought the wrong dish which was acknowledged by ‘ l accidentally pushed the wrong key on tablet’ We were ok with that expecting the rest of our food to arrive as ordered Nothing else arrived. No seafood, no Chinese tea and no rice arrived Our waiter and other staff were busy drinking large glasses whiskey and having their own banquet at a table nearby When we gave up and went to pay and mentioned we hadn’t received half of tge food we ordered, no one seemed to care and we reluctantly paid for what we had eaten including the dish we hadn’t ordered

Wonderful!

We’d had a big 12 hour day and wanted easy take away while staying in Te Anau. We opted to book a meal online with Ming Garden. What a great decision this was. The meal was ready at the nominated time and the food was absolutely delicious - one of the better Chinese meals we’ve ever had. The food was tasty and obviously fresh - the vegetables were beautifully cooked. I’d highly recommend Ming Garden.

Went both nights of our trip!

The food was so delicious we ate there both nights of our trip! We took our two young boys (3 and 5) and they also loved the food. Had to play it safe with their meals and got Sweet and Sour Pork one night, Chicken Cashew but the next, they loved both of them! We on the other hand went for the spicy dishes and were not disappointed- so delicious. First was a HUGE bowl of Szechuan Beef in Spicy Sauce/Soup, it was only a medium size. I was in heaven. Also pork riblets with spicy salt, wow, deep fried goodness. The next day we were looking forward to going back the whole day, discussing what we’d get. Went with a Spicy Eggplant dish, WOW! Highly recommend. It had pork in it and flavours were incredible. Also a Spicy Sichuan Chicken which is actually chicken nibbles. Very spicy, you’ve been warned! But we loved it! Casual dining, it’s more about the food and relaxed atmosphere, don’t need to feel like you need to dress up. My only wish is that we had a big group of us so we could have tried more dishes! Would absolutely go there again with family. Thanks guys.

Magnificent Ming Garden

Quite simply one of the finest Chinese meals we've ever had! The sweet and sour pork as part of a magnificent 5 course banquet set menu was particularly good but everything on the menu was of highest quality. Staff were very friendly, allowing us late entry and table service was super efficient but discreet. Highly recommended.

We booked for 7pm on arrival our table was already taken. Sat at another table for an hour. No food, NO SERVICE

It was in absolute chaos, probably 70 people,two staff members rushing around delivering single plates to multiple tables. Everyone complaining. Children doing handstands in the restaurant- bored and hungry. I accept it is difficult getting staff but don’t over book yourself. We walked out after an hour with no food, no water, no wine glasses, NO SERVICE.

Amazing Friendly Service (plus good food)

Ate here both nights of our stay in Te Anau following the excellent & friendly service we received on our first night. The ladies make you feel very welcome despite the speed they are working at. Attentive service was a stand out feature. Then add in fresh ingredients, cooked well, and nicely presented; you then have a great overall experiences at Mings. Thank you Ladies for your friendly, stand out service.

Authentic Chinese Food!

Was missing asian food hence popped by this restaurant for dinner. Ordered 1 medium Beef Stir Fried Hor Fun and 1 medium Sweet and Sour Pork. It was more than enough for 2 pax and super yummy! Highly recommend!

The chef is Cantonese and you can tell, if you know what dishes to order. 'Wok-hei' is the key word. Those tired of heavy meat pies and fish-n-chips, looking for some authentic Chinese food will be pleasantly surprised. Make sure to ensure they don't use MSG in your dishes, as they might use it for typical dishes that have been adapted to the local preferences.

We decided to go to this restaurant as it had pretty good reviews, the online menu looked delicious and reasonably priced. We walked into the restaurant and we were the only ones there. This wouldn't bother us normally but the whole restaurant looked and felt grubby. Definitely not appealing. Not enough to stay and eat, so we walked out and went somewhere else.

Amazing food

Amazing food on a quiet Monday. Loved the sweet and sour pork and the chilli chicken. Would have been more adventurous but hungry after coming off a long tramp and loved every mouthful. Would love to visit again and eat other menu items. No idea why a previous reviewer had an issue with the restaurant being quiet??? We had great service and they were doing loads of takeout with perhaps 3/4 tables refilling all the time.

WORST SERVICE EVER. DONT EVER GO HERE

Very ordinary chinese restaurant in te Anau.. the food is okay but very pricey and not to mention salty and the serving very little too..good for a child maybe. the chicken is stringy and dry as a rock. The servers are not friendly at all. they all look very tired and seem out of focus. We asked for spoon and forks as none of us know how to use chopsticks but the server opted to get orders of other customers first.. when it finally came, it was just placed on our table.. no table napkin.. not even on a plate. very hygienic? haha Will never come back. the worst Chinese restaurant weve ever been to. Dont come here.
