Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

This is not a fine dining place, but rather a very useful stop for some meal and for buying the things that you are missing while traveling through New Zealand. This place has it all - clothes, sunglasses, car chargers, cosmetics... And what's the best,...you don't pay too much for it. Actually, this is one of the cheapest shops with the supplies for travelers that I have visited at New Zealand. Besides practical things that you need, you can also buy some presents here. Offer of the restaurant consists mostly from sandwiches and cold meals, but the place also has some hot dishes and pizzas to choose from. The ordering happens at the cash desk.More

Service with a smile - NOT. To the Southern Discoveries Tour Bus that was there at 10am today 30th Jan 2024 - I apologise on behalf of Kiwis - that service was appalling. Not even one smile (until I said I wasn’t on the tour...bus) - I received some lip movement which could have been the beginnings of a smile. These tourists are paying your wages! Be happy for that. You were maybe too young when COVID affected tourism to have a job - but please be happy you have a job now. On a positive note the coffee was good.More

I was really not pleased with our dining experience today in the cafe. I firstly was served by a cafe assistant who spoke very little English, (I understand everyone learns, but the cafe assistant just stared at me blankly until someone else came to serve)...then confusion over menu/ kids meals etc, till function issues and a lot of frustrations. Last straw was nearly charged $2 for one slice of GF bread. (After I made a fuss I was informed that they don’t normally charge for this) then seeing the cost of the cabinet food, was extortionate. Struggled with the cost of $7-8 for a cheese roll. Had upset and hungry kids so just went with it. They made a lovely coffee and staff came and apologised about till issues. (It took about 20 mins to order our mostly cabinet food) shame that it’s obviously catering for the overseas market as it’s not going to be an affordable place for a quick lunch with kids.More

Very good dinner by four of us. Surprisingly good. Highly recommend it as an oasis to the crowded, over booked "popular" restaurants in Te Anau "downtown".

Such a convenient stop on the way to Milford Sound and not to mention worth while. I stopped here for food two days in a row and the food was amazing and the service great. They make a good cup of coffee and a great...chai latte. Be sure to try their GF caramel slice and their truly kiwi cheese roll!More

What a great place - we stopped mid-afternoon after walking the Kepler Track and it was fantastic. Food was delicious and very filling (had the lamb shanks and chicken legs with mushroom sauce). Facilities were very clean with easy access toilets. Service was very attentive...and friendly. Highly recommend.More

After a fleeting overnight stay in Te Anau stopped in at the Alpine Center Cafe for breakfast. Wow wee big feed! Also the biggest americano I have ever had the pleasure to drink, plus my finger fit through the handle. Great staff, great food, you...deserve 5 stars but don’t want you getting complacent!More

The cafe staff greeted us with friendly smiles. Our brunch was plated nicely and I ordered the waffles and fresh fruit. As we savored the our brunch, we watched the multicolored alpacas playing in the bright green paddock. The cafe sells packets of alpaca snacks,...and it was a bonus to feed and pet the gentle alpacas. Delicious food, warm staff and petting alpacas make a fantastic brunch!More

Family lunch, the place was quite busy but well priced and the usual selection of hot food, but it did have a good sandwich selection. The place could do with a good clean. It was very well priced.

Visiting my daughter in Te Anau it was decided to go out for a meal and the Alpine centre was the choice of the locals. The restaurant is a great place for a family to go out for a meal and the food was wonderful....I absolutely love fresh Blue Cod and that is exactly what i got. The fillets had been beautifully cooked as were the vegetables. There was a full bar and the service was of a high standard. The facilities were very clean and as i am in a wheelchair the mobility stall was a breeze to use and i could maneuver easily.More

Big call but the wedges here might be the best I’ve ever eaten in my life! Perfectly crisp with lovely coating & fluffy inside. Can also recommend the cheese roll and the coffee is great too. Staff are lovely and there’s a good selection of...both cabinet & menu food on offer. A great spot to stop off on the way to Milford.More
