Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

We were Winnies Staff from 2003/2004 and we were hosted by owners Mike and Cordelia. They set the stage for a 20 year reunion with our favourite pizzas from the glory days and also the new ones too! Great flavours and always great atmosphere, this...place felt like home and the 2024 staff made us feel welcome back at every turn. Jess and George were both smashingly efficient and wonderful. A must stop in Queenstown. Get in there and do get the T-Shirt! Thanks again guys, much love.More

Overall cool vibe with the roof opening and the vintage look - we thought the pizzas were fine and they even did a decent gluten free for one of us. The Italians in our group didn’t rate the pizza but they are Italian, so what...do you expect. The weird thing was the bag check when we were leaving. This tall 20-something guy on the door wanted to look in our wives bags as we were leaving… yes, leaving. Our wives were a bit surprised but started to comply until my mate and I started questioning why. They just kept insisting on it and by the time we were out and the rest of our party (older women) were coming out, the other women pretty much told the staff to get stuffed and walked out. It’s just bizarre and I can’t see what they were looking for - someone sneaking out drinks?!? In tiny little purses? Seems like someone got the memo about no drinks to leave the premises and took it a bit far. Not a NZ legal expert but surely this is an illegal search and invasion of privacy? They blocked our exit physically insisting on seeing in the bags until the older women said no way. Never see. Anything like this and it’s a shotty way to treat your customers after they have already paid and on the way out. Please explain.More

Queenstown outside everywhere was very busy, so we were happy to get a table inside with no wait. Able to get a booth which was perfect for the catchup with friends. Very friendly wait staff. Pizzas were good. (Not wood fired but very acceptable)

This has got to be one of the best pizza establishments we have visited. A good tip is to go large and share a two topping pizza. Staff were all very friendly ad helpful. Good choice of beer as well. Highly recommended

I ordered take away via online. In the 2 minutes it took to select the pizza I wanted for the cart, it wouldn’t accept my order because the time slot was no longer available and there was no option to select another time slot. I...had to cancel my order and start again and it gave me a new slot 5mins later. Arrived at Winnie’s at the designated time and despite having to put my name and details in the system, the staff said their system doesn’t show the name on the order so I had to describe my order so they knew which was mine. I mentioned designated time, because I had to wait another 15mins 😦. Thought to myself. Don’t worry, you’re on holiday, it’s all good. This place has good reviews. I get back to my accommodation, the garlic pizza was dry and bland ($17) and the meat pizza was rather lacking in toppings. I wonder if they realised it was a large ($42.95) not a small as no toppings around the outer 9cm (3.5in). The steak was tougher than my belt. Base was pretty bad. So expensive for such bad pizza. Left me wishing I had just got dominoes, would have tasted better and been literally half the price. I will maybe try fat badgers pizza but I’m worried it will be a big disappointment too. Time will time. Will not be going back to Winnie’s, that is for sureMore

Nothing wrong with the service or the atmosphere- just the food is very substandard. The pizza base is awful- it’s not a dough but maybe a pre bought base- tastes like scone mixture. No bread like texture to it- I’d be very surprised if it...was made with yeast and if it was made in-house. Pumpkin salad was nice if not a little small. Burger was fine as were chips said one of our group. Feels like ‘captured-audience-food’. Needs to step it up especially as claiming to be a pizza place. Find a new pizza base recipe please- worst I’ve ever had. Really disappointing.More

There was a higher rating for this on TA which is why we visited. As normal vegan options are fairly limited. So we went for pizza for which they have a good reputation, or so the blurb stated. It was pretty bland. The people of...Naples, or anywhere in Italy need not worry, their crown is safe. Service okay, beer good. Not a quiet place to eat and is pretty busy.More

August - 2023. Overall decent pizza - quality ingredients, tasty sauce, nice amount of toppings. Crust was underwhelming, flat and biscuit like. Somewhat deceptive sizing as the wall displays wooden size of pies but the actual pizza was smaller. See photo. Still enjoyable pizza in...a nice atmosphere. Great food as always, and as usual, rubbish service. Young team, who really have no idea. When you ask for pizza bread as a starter, you generally don't expect it to come out with your mains.
