Out for dinner. Busy night but tables available. Told would be 40 minute wait. Was only 20 which was great. Shank nice but mash cold Very plain burgers. Patties thick with no taste. Waitress lovely

Enjoyed the friendly staff and general atmosphere so much we went back again. Food was excellent, game venison was perfectly cooked...will be back again for that alone.
This is a great place for a meal after visiting Speights Brewery. Not only is the food good, there is a great atmosphere and of course the beer or some people might enjoy some of the great New Zealand wines.

As with all speights ale houses - expect good food, generous portions, and reasonable prices. Good for families with a children’s menu well catered. This is higher end pub grub though - so don’t expect fine dining if you’re out to impress.
Came here for dinner on a Sunday after a busy day spent exploring. Enjoyed the lamb shanks and the sausages and mash. Was delicious and hearty . Service was a little slow given how quiet they were but all round a good, simple night out.
We had the set lunch comprising fish & chips and steak & chips. Since we were not particularly hungry, we shared these among the three of us. At $15 per item, the value is reasonable.
