Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

When we stopped for dinner we knew the place was packed with large groups but we were going to wait. We received our drinks and were able to order dinner without any delay with several employees checking in on us. The fish and chips and...pies were amazing.More

Went there for a pub meal and it was very underwhelming. Ordered a chicken pie and chips thinking the pie would be a reasonable size and hand made and not one from the local supermarket. There were about 15 chips on the plate and cost...about $25. Not greatMore

This was the worst meal I have had in New Zealand and the worst Sunday roast I have ever had. We went for Sunday roast and the beef was very tough and tasteless, there was a slice of roast and the. Two bizarre rectangular pieces...of beef that did not seem from the same cut with grill marks. The potato and carrot vegetables were uncooked boiled and not properly roasted. The green beans were frozen and tasteless. The Yorkshire pudding was profoundly dry and tasteless. At $25 each this was a waste of $50 for a horrible meal. Do not eat there!More

Went to the Pub Quiz, absolutely appalling. Host was drunk (Had 4 shots, 1 cocktail and 2 beers) Was practically yelling through the microphone for the last hour. At the end of each round a song played, but played over and over again at high...volume. The food was not to expectation, $14 for some squid (5 small pieces with a small amount of salad). Extremely overpriced and not worth it. Do not recommend this for a night out to get together and have some fun. Very frustrating.More

I took 24 blokes on a golfing trip to Queenstown. I contacted P & W a few months in advance and arranged dinner booking including entre and main meal choices for each of the 24 people. On the night we arrived and the staff and...cooks at P & W did an awesome job of getting our meals out to us within fairly good time. Quality and value for money, with great service from the P & W team. Lots of beers on tap to choose from too!More

We Needed a quick bite and a drink. So many choices and so glad we stopped here. Bartender from Scotland was welcoming and friendly. German server was friendly and made us feel valued for being there. I had the French fries with a glass of...Chardonnay. The aioli was fantastic Prices were very reasonable based on the surrounding area. My husband had the squid which he said was the best he has had for pub grub. He chose a mojito which also got a thumbs up. We sat outside on a beautiful fall day, enjoying the view on paragliders and mountains.More

The food was lovely and great atmosphere! A bit crowed and confusing as you can't order at the bar. You need to find a waitress but understand there are staff shortages.

We were looking forward to the Sunday All Day Beef Roast as advertised but upon arrival at 6.30pm were informed that it had all gone, we were also informed that because of staff shortages there would be a wait of half an hour, we nearly...walked out in disgust but stayed as it was raining! I understand the staff shortages is no fault of management in these present Covid times but one way management can overcome this is to ensure adequate supplies of food to keep the customer satisfied, there can be no excuse for running out!More

Staff were super friendly - we have dined at the pig & Whistle before and it was fabulous but this time we drove 150km's to meet friends and have a Sunday roast together while they were visiting Queenstown - we won't be returning as 4...Sunday roasts were nearly cold - the roast potatoes/pumpkin & vegetables were obviously precooked (not fresh) the Roast Beef was very chewy and gristly - Roast Pork was like pre sliced with NO apple sauce and NO crackle - it was a very disappointing meal which we all left about 1/4 of the way through leaving 3/4 of our meals uneaten, it was just to bad to eat - we don't know how at that time of day it could have been so bad. If you want a Sunday roast then try somewhere else unless they get their act together - really the manager/owner should be checking the quality of the food.More
