Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Visited here 5 years ago and the service and food is just as good as it was back then. Highly recommend the waygu scotch fillet and waygu fat roast potatoes. My waiter was fantastic at ensuring everything was coeliac safe.

Terrific steakhouse in Queenstown. Wonderful choice of cuts of beef, with origin and characteristics well described, perfectly booked to order. Also a good wine selection by the glass. Liked it so much we sought out the sister location in Auckland a few days later!

Chose to book because of good trip advisor reviews. Should have checked the menu before doing so but, I thought you can't go wrong with a well rated steak house, can you! How wrong can you be! The menu is so complicated that it has...to be explained to every diner. This is not the function of a menus, you should be able to look at it and decide without "expert" intervention. The fact that the servers had to explain the menu to each table, meant that there attention is taken away from the customers already dining! Our server introduced himself and said that he would be looking after us! Other than a couple of cursory questions about our food, we received no other contact. We sat with empty glasses waiting for an offer of further service until eventually we decided that we just wouldn't bother. The food was good but not any better than other steak house chains. This restaurant is overpriced and pretentious and would do well to simplify their menu and pay more attention to their customers. Would not go back or risk any others in the chain because of our experience.More

My wife and I ate dinner here with our friends from Auckland. We have been to jervois in ponsonby many times but this was our first visit to the QT restaurant. We were so pleased and think this may be a new favorite go to...for a steak in town! Set on the second floor at the Sofitel hotel right in town we had nice views but were blown away by our choice of a shared three steak option with lots of sides and Man o War Ironclad wine. The pre dinner cocktails were great and our waiter did an amazing job showing us the meat options by our table before cutting our cooked steak in front of us and serving it to us on a huge plate. What a great night. Can’t wait to go back.More

Really tasty food, we were looking forward to a good steak dinner and Jervois did not disappoint. The staff were super helpful advising us on what steak would be best based on our liking.

Food was excellent and the highest of quality BUT you will pay for it too. One of the best Steaks I ever had and perfectly cooked. As a non wine drinker, getting a regular beer wasn’t easy but otherwise the service was pretty good.

This restaurant was recommended to us by someone in hospitality as we were travelling in NZ. Lovely ambience, efficient and pleasant staff, not too overbearing but giving plenty of advice on the menu choices. We chose the modern take on the prawn cocktail, 4 delicious,...large prawns with the obligatory salad leaves and lemon, delicious! Chicken liver parfait was fine, but not mind-blowing. For mains, the grain fed Central Ortago Sirloin was so tasty and cooked to perfection as was the lamb rack, 225g, which was fine for us. Generally, we prefer reasonable sized portions rather than an overwhelming huge plate of food. Accompaniments of whipped potato and seasonable vegetable were lovely, but the salad was impressive with so many tasty elements. Would definitely revist when in Queenstown, but need to book in advance as it gets busy.More

Fantastic meat, fish, service and ambiance. I shared the lumina lamb rack, pan fried snapper fish, cesear salad and seasonal green vegetables with hazelnut granola. They are not kidding when they state they have the best meat. 4 of us at our table ordered the...lamb and all stated it was outstanding with no gamy taste at all. It was buttery and not tough at all. You can choose the sauce you like such as black garlic butter or spinach and Gorgonzola and about 6 others. The cesear salad with the poached egg and anchovies was great and I also loved the veggies with hazelnuts. I don’t like hazelnuts but it worked and it was great. The pan fried fish was also cooked to perfection. The restaurant ambiance and staff were nice. Even the bathrooms were huge and very clean. Apparently the men’s urinals were like no other ever seen by one of the men in our group. Don’t miss this place but do make reservations so you can get in!More

We had the NZ wagyu scotch fillet and sirloin which was nice. However last time (about 5+) years they had lots of aged dried beef on the menu (prepared on site). Sadly this is no longer the case.

This was absolutely the best restaurant we have been to in both New Zealand and Australia. The rack of lamb was incredible. Info says they serve lamb and steak as they should be served and it is so good it will spoil you for any...other. It was outstanding. Service and ambiance - sitting on the outside balcony - were wonderful. Highly recommend it!More

Very little nice thing to say about the place. Service and management was an absolute let down. The food was very nice and the steaks cooked to perfection but unfortunately everything else was more likely one of the worst restaurant experiences we’ve ever had. The...host was nice enough although a little lost and unprofessional. Led us to the table which was nicely located. Cocktails took about 30-40 minutes to be delivered to the table after ordering they were very unbalanced and flavourless. The service as a whole felt very rushed,l and quite poor considering the price of the bill at the end of the evening. I am guessing the person in charge ( a red hair lady) was running around looking absolutely lost. Very disappointing when your total bill comes at a $200 per person. I think they should highly consider training their staff properly. Would definite not recommend nor come back. Had a better service and felt more welcome in the pool bar across the street the same evening.More

Yes, there is a kids menu. It was still a bit fancy for our 7yo, he ordered the squid bites but ended up eating mostly chips, he is very fussy!
