Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Absolutely delicious, as i am writing this my mouth is drooling just thinking about it! As i was waiting in transit I was recommended to try the famous Boston Cream, boy were they right this tasty fried cinnamon and sugar coated doughnut of deliciousness which is filled with this vanilla bean cream that just melts it is a must try!!! I was also recommended to try the lamb shank pie. And i can see why the lamb shank is so tender and tasty and the pastry is exactly what you want from a pie. However all the pies looked absolutely scrumptious it was hard to decide i mean they are hand made on site with fresh produce. What more could you ask for?! Also friendly service when ordering from their tasty range of pies, juices, breads sandwiches and sweets/cakes. Definitely check it out

Even if you're just popping in for a famous Boston cream donut ($4.90), it's worth it - they leave everything I've ever had at Krispy Kreme for dead. The pies are awesome too - especially the venison and portobello mushroom. They even have giant German-style pretzels ($6.90). Lots of other delicious treats at good value prices.

The queue to get in the door was as stupid as their burger joint’s queue next door. Customers can’t see the selection or prices as they queue, so are time-pressured to make choices when they actually get to the front of the queue. But patience pays off. 2 x Chocolate mud cake, 1 x flour-free cake, 1 x creme donut and 1 x baguette, in all $24 of fresh deliciousness, (& the mud cake lasted 3 days and still tasted gorgeous). Would I queue again? Yeck, yes, definitely, and so should you!

Every year I eat a couple of pies from this legendary shop. This year I notice that the pies are a little claggy and have less meat. Totally understandable, noticing that meat prices in Queenstown have gone up around 20% each year over the last three years. Just put your prices up and be the best pie I’ve ever had. Still awesome bakery and they still serve a great pie.

Skipped the long line at Fergburgers and choose to have a pie instead. $6.95 for The Ferg pie, friend had the vegetarian pie. Served hot, by friendly staff - the meat in my pie was big chunks, making it challenging to eat; needed more seasoning. Friend said the same of her pie.

Obviously this place is extremely well known, you can tell by the long queues outside it every day! But the bakery section was very special - absolutely delicious bread made on the premises - especially the rosemary loaf . Good coffee, lovely scones and baguettes. Best of all was the friendliness of the staff - when I was paying for my order and commented on how delicious the almond and chocolate pastries looked, the person serving me slipped one into my bag as a gift!! That was really unexpected and areal treat! Thank you again, I enjoyed it very much.

Love the pies here. When I saw that they were $7.20 I hesitated, but they were worth every penny. The staff are also perfectionists about the quality of their food. No wonder there's almost always a line! We were lucky enough to visit while the borders were closed so no line when we were there but I have seen it on other visits so always previously stayed away. We had the steak with mushroom and blue cheese, and pork belly and apple pies, as well as the apple pie and ice cream for dessert, and the lemon meringue pie for dessert on a different occasion. All delicious!

Well, yes, we should have come for the burgers (or pies) but this time it was a little bit late so we choose to go for coffee/hot chocolate and almond/chocolate croissants and have a giant pretzel and some sweets to take away for our friends. The service is very nice, although they were quite busy, but still taking their time to have a little chat. The coffee is very good and the home made hot chocolate 'to die for'. The almond/chocolate croissants were freshly baked and sooooo yam. Although it was only an afternoon 'tea' it was probably the most amazing culinary experience of our trip.

After sampling a fair few pies around NZ, hands down this flies to the top of the list. I ordered the classic ‘Ferg Pie’ and it was packed with tender meat and lovely flavours, not just filled with gravy. The pastry also holds itself well and is so flaky and buttery, it’s making me hungry writing this! For afters I would recommend the brownie - a $4 slice of rich, moist, chocolatey heaven. Me and my partner shared one of these (quite a few times now on our brief stay here) and it’s such a treat. I’m sure we’ll be sampling more Ferg delights tomorrow!

We stopped here before we went to Fergburger and bought one of the cream puff doughnuts and some pretzels. They were both really good and wish we would have had more time to come back and try more items. Everything was so fresh and tasty and they do a high volume business so nothing sits around long. Definitely try this place for snacks, desserts or even breakfast or lunch.

Bought four pies as queue for burgers too challenging. All were of average quality -steak ones had chewy meat, vegetarian was bland and pastry was far too thick and heavy on all of them. My youngest did enjoy her mince and cheese however......$29 for four pies

We visited Fergbaker a number of times throughout our week long stay at Queenstown. It was busy but They are really efficient at making coffees and the baked goods are amazing. Mr 8 was obsessed by the sprinkle doughnut and I loved the crossaints, they were crisp and flaky on the outside but soft and buttery on the inside. A must visit if you are in Queenstown.

We bought pastries at Fergbaker after bought burgers at Fergburger. The pastries were delicious. Then we went to Te Anau for three nights. My partners liked the pastries so we drove to Queenstown Center to buy more pastries from Fergbaker.

I’m not usually a fan of donuts with cream/custard filling but the boston cream donuts by Fergbaker are on another level! The texture and the taste of the donut alone was delicious and the delicious cream just made it a perfect combo, it’s definitely not your average donut. I could see why people would order two at a time while I was there. I had one almost every day of the trip to pair with my coffee, they were that good! Thank goodness I was only there for four days😅 I would order them online and have them delivered to Wellington if I could🤤

Visited on a busy Saturday lunchtime. Staff were unfriendly with zero pleasantries towards customers and the pastry I ordered was soggy. Disappointing experience. Please can someone do some customer service training with your bakery staff! They looked completely disinterested and the pastry was second class this time round.
