We were staying at the hotel so had one meal at restaurant
Limited menu and I’m a fussy eater. There was 6 sharing plates and the young lady said I can’t tell you what they are I will explain them when I bring them. Well to a fussy eater that’s alarm bells ringing! I said I’m fussy and that scared me but she still wouldn’t say what dishes they were!!!!
So we ordered a large plate each and a paratha. Fish and piri piri chicken. They were both very tasty and you could feel the spices building but they are defo not large plates as in quantity
So we were still hungry and had puddings bacon ice cream waffle and maple syrup and some honeycomb type thing apparently it’s a made for royalty not sure would have the bacon ice cream again but hey we both tried it and when I asked for maple syrup to put on the royal pudding there was definitely a frown without it I would have left it as it just wasn’t sweet enough
The atmosphere was nice taste is definitely the experience here. Really wish the small plates could have been explained as felt like we may have missed out sadly

Seems they have a regular 3 course set price option & the 3 to 5 options for each course from the published menu were compelling. I'm not a big dude so I really never have more than an entree & maybe a starter but if I do then I just can't "stomach", no pun intended, dessert for at least a couple of hours. But I sucked it up here because the price, particularly considering the strength of the US $ v. the NZ $ (gracias Jacinda-the gift that keeps on giving!), was a great deal-a hair under $25 US for a 3 course meal-sign me up!
The first item off of the starter menu doesn't seem to be on their website menu right now but it was a puffy Indo-style filled street snack popular in South Africa. Pretty tasty-a bit heavy due to the dough that they did describe as donut like. Then for my entree I went for the Goan fish kodi in banana leaf w/coconut rice-delicious. And finally I finished w/something I would never order back in the US (or Canada for that matter) because I gave up sickly sweet maple syrup once I caste off puberty & thus was an adult. But the bacon maple ice cream and waffles was indeed about a once a year decadent dessert for me. Overall, the spot, decor, ambience & service was top notch.

Innovative and remarkable meal served in a bright comfortable setting with great friendly and informed service. We had four shared plates that we loved including cauliflower, lamb, and potatoes. Our mains were goan fish and peri peri chicken, both excellent and beautifully presented. In addition, we had featured drink which was a pina colada made with house made rum and coconut cream topping. Fantastic

Lovely tasty dishes but seriously lacking in portion size. We chose 2 “large plate” dishes. The duck & fish. Hardly able to share, 2 small slices of duck breast & a whole fish you’d have to return if you caught. Other than a sauce nothing else on the plate. Considering the meals cost $30+ & $40+ I expected more.

Hi thomashN2258JW,
Thank you very much for your honest feedback, we will always appreciate it. Great to hear that you loved the food that you were able to try.
We do always recommend at least 4 plates (combination of small plates and sharing plates) for 2 people to share so that everyone leaves satisfied. All of our ingredients are sourced direct, meats & fish butchered in house and sauces developed over time to ensure our customers do get the best quality every time and so prices do reflect this. I am sorry you felt the fish portions were too small for the price, this may have been the type of market fish for the day, but we have now become more aware of this.
We would very much love to have you back to take more of our dishes!

The whole experience was fantastic from start to finish. Excellent cocktails mixed by fabulous bar staff. Or waiter Lachy was well versed on every dish and more than happy to answer any questions we had about the ingredients. Definitely one of my new favourite restaurants.

We were absolutely blown away by our meal, the whole experience was amazing from start to finish. Every single dish was outstanding, and the chef came out to chat with us a few times which we really enjoyed. We couldn’t even choose a favourite dish as they were all so good. The staff here are wonderful, friendly and and very attentive. Highly recommend and we will definitely be back!

No 5 was amazing, we loved trying a variety of different dishes and the staff were amazing! Shoutout to Britt for running us through the menu and explaining all the dishes to us (and also making sure our drinks were never empty!) Definitely would go back again, and it’s a great restaurant if you want a moment to relax away from the busy streets of Queenstown.

We went for the first time to no5 and it was and an unforgettable experience. Since the moment that we arrived the lights and music embraced us to start this wonderful trip to nz roots. While we were waiting for our food they'd bring to the table sourdough bread made with local beer and crayfish butter, everything made by the chefs with the concept of no wasting, we really appreciate the detail. For the starters we had first the Jerusalem artichokes with a sweet salty Buffalo curd that it was delicious, the Manuka honey surprised us in this dish. Then the salmon terrine, I don't have words to describe it but we loved it! And we finish with the kura-yaki (crayfish dumplings) that again was something special. For the main courses we had the venison, and the duck that with the the carrots from Garston and the kumara bread was a little piece of heaven, we didn't try the dessert just because we were in a rush, so we will come back again because so far is the best place that we've been having dinner in Queenstown, thank you to the amazing team Thibault and Chris for taking care of us and to Trent and the rest of the Chef's for the amazing food!!

We had dinner at the No5 with my colleagues and we all enjoyed the experience very much!
I really like the idea to share the plates, as we could all have a try. The cooking of the meats were all perfect (the lamb skewers and the duck are to die for)!
Big up to Britt and her top notch recommendations.
Will definitely go back!

Went to No 5 last year (loved it!) and decided to go back to check out their new menu. We knew it was going to be good but were both blown away by what the team has created.
Service was great, knowledgeable, and passionate, it really felt like the team works so well together and is so proud to carry what the chefs are creating onto the guests. Chris and his colleague were attentive and had great recommendation when it came to wines.
The food was simply unique, we had the artichoke and crayfish tail to start, both executed perfectly. Then had the venison and duck and that was just out of this world!! The duck curry was so good, presented so well and full of flavours. Didn't have any room left for desserts!
I cannot recommend this place enough, I will be sending people this way with full confidence that the service and food will be spot on. Thanks again for a great evening, and can't wait to come back soon.

We had dinner here last night and we had the best night! The whole experience was amazing, from the staff to the food and the atmosphere. Every single dish we had was delicious, we couldn’t even choose a favourite! The staff were so helpful and chatted to us about each dish, explained that their philosophy is to use all parts of food items to reduce waste, and to source everything as local as possible. This is now a few favourite in Queenstown, we will definitely be back!

A wonderful find! We enjoyed some cocktails (they make a great Old Fashioned!) some delicious tapas (the cod croquettes are very nice) and of course some local wines. The staff are friendly, knowledgeable and attentive. Highly recommend!

No 5 is tucked away down a side street in Queenstown but it’s a hidden gem! Chef Trent (who came out to deliver food & explain his creations to us) has created a menu for all, with numerous vegan & vegetarian options, as well as meat and fish, using the best ingredients New Zealand has to offer. I visited with a friend who is celiac and she was catered for beautifully!
Chris & Brendan looked after us, always making sure we had what we needed and recommending delicious cocktails.
A must visit if you’re in Queenstown. Try the banana blossoms!

Dinner on Friday night brought us to No 5 Church Lane and wow we were impressed! Whilst lock down meant there were few people in Queenstown we were given a super reception and a grand meal. Trusting the chef to choose your meal was a little daunting but turned out to be an amazing delight. Beautiful food, great flavours and a good wine selection. A must for any visit. Bar staff very attentive and right on the mark for service. Thanks for a memorable experience.

We are vegan and it can be difficult finding 'classy' experiences for a romantic dinner. No5 Church Lane delivered! We had a stunning five course (think it was more than that but lost count) vegan meal. The staff (including chef who also can out to deliver one of the courses) were exceptional.
If their main menu stands up to what they prepared for us then this spot is a "must dine" when in Qtwn
