Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

My husband and I had a fun late lunch at The Crown Pub and Beer Garden. My dish was the beef Thai salad with the a memorable dressing (on the side) that I wanted to duplicate at home it was so delicious. A little spice,...a little sweet. It was the perfect dressing for the salad. Our other dish was a delicious lamb shank with a deeply rich sauce over mashed potatoes and a sides of roasted veggies. Both were delicious!More

To add to my review above, the multiple TV screens showed WWF wrestling which was unsuitable for a family meal time and resulted in some awkward discussions with preschoolers.

We dropped in here for a quick meal as we were travelling that evening. We ordered calamari, chicken bites, pizza & hot chips. The chips were the best part and they were average. The chicken was so dry we had to coat it in sauce...to make it edible. The pizza was so sloppy the toppings slid off the base. The calamari was bland. Simple pub fare shouldn’t be hard to get right, surely?More

This place is great because it's NOT in Queenstown central. Some nights you need an easy dinner with great food and fast service and not all the hubbub of the crowds. I also was really craving a salad and not a lot of places serve...what I'd consider a main dish salad, the Crown did - I got a fabulous Caesar with chicken and more to the point I got it quickly, with no craziness. This area will probably be overrun by tourists soon but for now it's an oasis of calm, a normal nice bar for dinner, and it was a lovely night out!More

great vibe, good setting and certainly dog friendly. Good variety of dishes to choose from, obviously where the locals go. Good place to get away from the madness of main street Queenstown

We visited the pub directly after learning our flight home was cancelled and we needed a place to re-group, eat and get our plan for the next few days hammered out. We were warmly greeted by the staff and despite us being harried and disappointed...with our current situation, helped us get seated and were patient while we sorted out or order. I can honestly say it was one of the best hospitality experiences we had during our visit. The food was not disappointing either! And the cold pint help settle my nerves after the chaos at the airport. After tucking in, the world didn't seem such a bad place. The pub is well-appointed with pool table and dart boards and even a place for kids to play (the later was very helpful for us as well to buy time for the adults to talk). Thank you for your kindness during our visit, staff of The Crown.More

Just keep going there because my friend chooses this bar as it’s walking distance to her house. Many disappointments that definitely make me refuse to chose this place again. NO, DONT SAY YOU CLOSE LATE. I’ve been there twice in a Friday night and the...grumpy manager closes the bar at 9pm. One night there was groups coming and they keep saying the bar was closed. So, no, it’s not about being a quiet night. But this time… the Venue was not busy, they said they would bring me my drink. After around 10’ I went to check it and the guy that was filling the fridge with wine bottles said he was working on it. Apologies for forgetting it would sound way better! Nobody would be working in a drink filling the fridge with no ingredients related to it! Just choose other place to go!More

This has to be about the best English style pub in Queenstown area, the food was good, the beer was equally as good, the prices were reasonable compared to central Queenstown venues, friendly staff, nothing too much trouble.

We visited this pub twice whilst in Queenstown, once for a get together meal and the second time was for my birthday celebration. The service and meals were just awesome. Very special venue to have a significant birthday or celebration. The staff were very accommodating...and allowed us to put up a balloon garland and we also had a space to put the cake. A great pub to visit for a nice meal and drinks with mates. There's also a nice little room for the kids to play in.More

Terrible experience. Booked for Christmas lunch, received the email confirmation for 8 guests and when we arrived it was closed leaving us without dining options. To make matters worst, I received an email the following day saying thanks for dining with us. Ruined our Christmas...- thanks alot!More
