If you describe a tapas bar meal on your menu as “Eichardt’s Legendary Seafood Chowder” and get it wrong, then you have a long way to fall. And I think this particular dish fell from the top of the Queenstown Gondola! Having enjoyed the seafood...chowder on many occasions when in Queenstown, we returned in January for lunch on a very cold day (for January). Alarm bells started ringing when the tapas portions of the seafood chowder we had ordered arrived with poorly cut up spinach floating on top. Never had had spinach on top before. Below the spinach it was just as bad. Minimal pieces of hard to find fish. One piece of prawn in my bowl, I could distinguish it as prawn, it was accompanied by some shell. The small portions cost $25 each (as stated on the printed menu), even though the price on the web page still says $16. Eichardts, sort out who ever makes this soup in the restaurant, return to the original recipe and get back on top of the legendary mountain.More

Have always loved this place, but sadly not today and see another review that echoes our thoughts. Top prices for bad service and mediocre food. Owners you should be looking at many things - training of bar staff, cleanliness in toilets, make sure there are...hand towels, fix the toilet seat, fix the soft close on the door from the bar to the toilet … sad that it has gone declined. Will not be recommending again.More

My third visit to Eichardt's bar over a number of years. The two previous experience were great. This time, really poor. If an establishment is going to charge premium prices, then they should match it premium service. Had to wait over half an hour for...our drinks to arrive and then the whole order did not turn up. The food we ordered was not a shadow of the quality we had on previous visits. Really disappointing.More

A great wine list and amazing views over Lake Watipiku during sunset , but the most amazing part was the busking piano player . He creates such an ambiance, we assumed the bar had him on payroll.

Nice place to watch the world go by. Excellent list of drinks - something for everyone. Danielle was very attentive and made sure we were well watered and nourished. Good selection of tapas and snacks. Well recommend.

The tapas are amazing, great service and good wine selection. Have the mushroom pate or the beef short rib tapas, just Yum.

Great location on the lake front, classy decor, simple, but adequate menu and excellent food quality. Vast drink options and importantly, first class service. You won’t find a better all round eating experience in Queenstown.

There for a light meal and drink. Lovely compact bar with luxe country style decor with very appealing ambience. A quiet night (about one third full) which made it most enjoyable. Very comprehensive drinks menu and a good variety in the tapas menu -- the...venison koftas and Goat Cheese Onion tart were nice, but it might be separation from kitchen, meals were warm rather than hot. Out of stock of decaf coffee and the coffee that was ordered was only warm. They did overhear my comment and offer to remake. Ordered a dessert but the coffee arrived first and the dessert went missing in action despite a fairly long wait, so had to ask for it to be taken of the account. Staff weren't that apologetic or concerned. Nice enough evening but staff were a bit sub standard - somewhat casual and more interested in talking to each other. Didn't seem to fussed by the shortcomings which in reality weren't that significant, but without receptive staff to stay on top of service and to show some empathy, the small faults became quite annoying. They really were not that professional. Pity https://www.tripadvisor.com/ShowUserReviews-g255122-d1639340-r884480776-Eichardt_s_Bar-Queenstown_Otago_Region_South_Island.html#More

Gorgeous, sumptuous surroundings, we felt like we'd stepped back in time. The staff were friendly and immaculately attired. We had a Bollinger Champagne Cocktail and an Espresso Martini to start, both of which were exquisite. We had a couple of snacks and if you like...seafood chowder you have to taste theirs it was divine!! Very special bar with professional and unpretentious staff. We loved it, and would definitely go back again.More

Great efficient friendly staff. Decor is different and subtle and is very nice. NO loud background music. NO wooden floors with wooden chairs that loudly scrape. Returned 2 nights later. Have tried their seafood chowder, most of the tapas menu and their crème brûlée is...fabulous. Bar stools, small and large tables, outdoor tables. Customers are never rushed.More

Ate here one evening. Really enjoyed a superb chowder, lots of seafood in there including a whole scallop. My wife had a goats cheese tart and loved it as well. Overall a classy place and worth calling in if you are in Queenstown.

We were fairly disappointed by our drinks and meal at Eichardt's Bar after reading so many positive reviews. Service was friendly but a bit slow. The food was not great - lamb ribs were fatty and hard to eat, fresh bread was dry and overbaked,...and the seafood chowder was fairly bland. The views of the lake are nice, and the cocktails were fine, but with so many great spots in Queenstown, I don't know that we'd be eager to return.More

Nice environment. Expensive we’ll made cocktails at joy-killing slow pace. Pie with goat cheese was delicious, lamb legs no so much.

The seafood chowder is exceptional and the calamari and wagyu salad are also very good. Service was as good as could be expected on a very busy evening.
