Having been travelling (from the UK) for over 36 hours, I just wanted a good honest meal and a beer. Thankfully I lucked out with the “Pub On Wharf”. At the recommendation of the English barman, I had the Lamb Shank dinner washed down with a great pint of DB Draught.
The live music (2-piece) was good but the young female singer was probably trying a little too hard.

Went walking round Queenstown looking for a dinner option on a Thursday night. Pub on Wharf had a good number of food options for a great price. Went with work colleagues as we were at a work conference. The menu had something for us all. Meals came quickly and as we were all hungry the plates ended up empty! Good number of fries with my meal and a delicious all round meal

We were in Queenstown for three nights and a combination of bad weather, the marathon weekend and everywhere being heaving meant we ate here every night.
We had six different mains between us, and they were all great, good quality and not too expensive.
Place was busy every night so the atmosphere was good too.
A good selection of beers and wine, and an option to get a bigger beer at a discount, most enjoyable.

The food is fine enough (we ordered fish & chips and a cheeseburger) but the drinks are extremely expensive. $21.50 for a glass of wine! I understand that it’s in a popular tourist destination but $90 in total for lunch for 2 was more than we expected to pay. Nice ambience and a great place to people-watch (especially if the local markets are on).

Visited due to the reviews, but found the food really disappointing! It really wasn’t worth the $20 charged - looking around at other restaurants they only charge a couple of dollars more. Fish and chips came with a slice of badly buttered white bread!! When we asked for tartare sauce, or even mayonnaise we were just blankly told it just came with ketchup. Would not return

Just had a nice meal, but beware when ordering starters.
Starters were delivered at same time as main meal, turns out you must state you want your staters as starters when you order. ( arsey bar man , shouted I should have read the menu wording) this dispute ordering 2 mains and 2 drinks. Turns out the bar staff can raise their voice and insult the fact you are British, but not allowed to question why all the food was served at once. The way he talked at me, seem that I am not the only person ( Brit) to have raised this issue.
Manager came to have a chat about me raising my voice, but understood my complaint. Seems in New Zealand it normal to have a starter / sharer with main meal.
In conclusion , meal very good but wasted starter & side.

The table where we sat was dirty and sticky.
There didn’t appear to be anyone wiping them down.
We ordered chicken Caesar wraps , which to be fair were generous in size.
However, my husband’s chicken in the wrap was very undercooked .
The staff did replace it , however we had lost our appetite by the time it came and were put off by the poor quality of the first wrap so couldn’t face eating the second one .

This place is really nice and does great food! However, I was halfway through eating my dinner when a waitress came over and started putting our table rubbish (used napkins etc) and cutlery on my plate and took it away as if I was finished when I was not! I thought maybe this was a mistake but my plate was gone before I could say anything, there was still half my dinner left. Very disappointing, felt like I was being rushed out even though it wasn’t quite closing time yet. Would be great if in the future waitresses asked ‘have you finished’ before taking plates away as I wasn’t even asked this question.

Pub on Wharf
Queenstown
Dinner
784138077
On 24/2/21 my wife and I and a friend visited pub on wharf for dinner. I scanned in at 7.20pm.
The bar person on at the time has bad situational awareness, he couldn't distinguish who was at the bar first for service out of 2 people, myself and some other person who just pushed in ahead of me after arriving after me and was served immediately before me.
I brushed that off and ordered 3 meals and 3 drinks. I ordered a beef wellington for myself, a chicken parmigiana for our friend, and a lasagne for my wife.
My wife doesn’t eat meat.
When the food came the wait person brought us 2 beef wellingtons (for me and mistakenly for my wife) and the chicken parmigiana for our friend. We stated that I didn’t order 2 beef wellingtons, whereupon this waitress started arguing with us very aggressively, we retaliated similarly. She even went so far as to go away then come back and say I was on the “security camera” as saying I ordered 2 beef wellingtons. I didn’t want 2 beef wellingtons because my wife doesn't eat meat, I had no reason to order 2 beef wellingtons.
The upshot was I was so angry I left without eating my meal, the following confusion and distress caused by this waitress meant we paid for the meals and somehow my wife didn’t get a meal.
The staff have a lot to learn about service at "pub on wharf"!

Restaurant nice for the atmosphere with a band playing that night. Cute terrace and beautiful interior, very well placed. Very friendly and helpful staff. Reasonable price for the city of Queenstown, my dish didn’t taste much I had asked to remove an ingredient but it was wrong done it’s a shame.

The worst steak I have ever had in my life. Staff after receiving the feedback just seemed to ignore it and move on. I should have thought that a $20 steak was going to be bad…..oversight on my behalf. My son had the ribs, he also said they were very poor quality. Suggest you up your prices and serve real food or don’t serve food at all.

For $20.00 you can choose from a good selection of food. We chose the salmon which was generous sized and delicious which was served with mashed potato and green beans. The staff were very friendly finding us a quiet spot because my husband has a hearing disability. Thanks for that. The service was very efficient.

Located in a perfect place in Queenstown. I looked at the menu and what caught my eye were that all mains were $20. I was really surprised because there were classic pub dishes like fish and chips and pork ribs but there were also beef Wellington and salmon which are really expensive dishes in other restaurants and countries.
It is really warm inside. Really busy. Very few people order food, they mostly just go there fore beer. I ordered the beef Wellington. The food took about 40 minutes to come and my beef Wellington looked really nice. However, there wasn't a lot of meat, there was a lot of pastry and not enough mushroom duxelle and bacon but I loved the sauce. I would've just preferred a slice of beef Wellington.
Great atmosphere, everyone in the pub looked like they were enjoying themselves so please come here and try the food.

We ate our first night in Queenstown at The Pub. The outdoor seating was great for people watching, and the service was friendly. The drink selections are good. The food tastes like home cooking. I had the barbecue rib platter which is huge enough to feed two people. The rib sauce was delicious, and the ribs were tender.

This place is in such a great location with outdoor seating overlooking the lake with very fair priced food. Most dishes are $20 which is fantastic for the quality and quantity you get! Really tasty, we’d recommend the ribs and beef Wellington, although the steak on a nearby table looked very appetising too. Live music gave a really good vibe to the place, and the staff were friendly. If I were around this area again I’d pay them another visit.
